Hyorin for Mei Lin 8       Helena Hair (Gen3/8F)       Toxophilite Outfit (Gen8F)       Toxophilite Outfit Textures    Iray Photo Lighting Capsule

First time using Iray Photo Lighting Capsule and frankly I haven't a clue what I am doing!
I love the moisture in her skin.
You can click/enlarge all of these, they are 1100px. The outfit has really nice materials.

The hair is gorgeous!!!  This is with the high shine option.

The hair does look nice. I’ve not yet decided on the Mei Lin bundle.

Really great renders @Novica - you should do promos for the PAs :)

Good googity woogity! Her skin looks scrumptious. Whatever you're doing with the Lighting Capsule, it's working! What DID you do? I passed on that as a $1.59 item, but I'm going to have to put in a ticket to get that price (I've already bought Mei Lin 8 Pro Bundle twice because I forgot to buy $1.59/$2.59 items with my first purchase).

    @worldsedge   @xyer0

Thank you :)    Um, what I did was basically load up LIghting Capsule, and kept clicking and testing. I didn't use any of the tint to get different hues on her, because I wanted to show her out of the box.  I  didn't do anything to the skin, she has really, really nice materials. I turned down the Burn Highlights (.15) and raised Crush Blacks (.40) in Tone Mapping, but other than that, it's just kudos to the vendor :)

Did you ever figure out the lighting on the Euro Apartment? I posted over in the commercial thread. I loaded the kitchen and applied the Moon lighting and the Night render settings, and the whole render is blown out. There is bright light from the window, even though I applied the night settings. The readme says most promo images were done with default out of the box lighting, so I don't know what i am doing wrong. I realize I could fiddle with the light settings myself, but I figured that the presets should at least give me something usable.

EDIT: I think I cracked the case. In the Materials category there is a EuroApt Windows Large - Night Light Preset that I didn't know about. I applied that, in addition to the lights and render settings. Now my render is looking better. I han't occurred to me to look for lighting in the Materials category.

EDIT: Nope, I still don't have it figured out. I got a night scene to work, but the day scene is totaly blown out. I must still be missing something.

Those renders really do look nice, @Novica !     Her skin has an attractive, vital gleam, like good skin, rather than the "shiny" look of silicone, wax or plastic as unfortunately is all too common.  Great job. (I figured it was due to your tips/usage re: metallicity adjustments until I read the post where you said it was just the out-of-box skin.)

I believe she said the windows are all emmissive, which was causing a lot of problems.  She details it a page or two back I believe.

Yes, I saw that. But applying the materials, lights, and render settings in the product just doesn't give good results. So, I wonder if I am doing something wrong. Even the full scene load doesn't seem right to me.

I don't have this so I am not going to be of any help at all.  Its a shame its causing so many issues for people, it looks like a really nice set!

    European Style Apartment

@barbult    I didn't putz with the kitchen after that, and it was one of those "Seriously? I try to do a 'gonna be easy' showcase and now 40 minutes later...."   So once I figured out the windows were causing the problem, I just worked around it by shutting those (emissives) off and using Dumor's lights.

I did the entry that same day but then got sidetracked, so here are the entry photos, showing the great level of detail by the vendor. Again, Dumor's Apocalyptic Plant Indoor Lights 2.

What it looks like from the outside.

These are without any postwork corrections, such as contrast, lightening, midtones, etc.

Notice the little nicks and dings to make it more realistic. I zoomed in for you, see the second one, below.

Yoshie HD (Mei Lin 8)        Layered Fringe Hair (Gen3/8F)       dForce Kimono Outfit (Gen8F)      The Streets of Asia 2
Lights:  Iray Photo Lighting Capsule        ElianeCK Face and Body Lights   plus one front/overhead dim spotlight for fill.

The Face and Body Lights give you a variety of different light colors to play with, in presets, so it's click and go! If you don't have them, give them a second look.  I picked this up when they did all the lights on sale. I checked and May 28th during the light sale, I paid $6.38. I still haven't tried the rest of the light sets I got that day. You folks pick up any that you haven't tested yet? Here's your challenge-

Check your May 28th emails/orders and do a render using one of the light sets you bought that day. Here's mine. :)

1400 px  Click to enlarge, click again.

Fun tip:  if you are using colored lights, you will quickly realize they don't match your background and may look out of place. Instead of spending twenty minutes (or more) tweaking and adding lights to make the buildings the same color, SIMPLY CHANGE THEIR COLOR IN SURFACE TAB. I changed the base color and the glossy color to blues and grays, even doing the windows so they didn't distract. They're a dark blue. Voila!

The Kimono drapes very nicely. You can't tell from this angle, but it goes cleanly over the front  extended foot. (That isn't pokethrough, it arches over the curve of the top of her foot.) However,  look at the sharp point hanging down on the sleeve. Easily hidden in postwork but it is a minor flaw in the simulation that you should keep an eye out for. That sleeve looks too baloony IMO at the end. That is just using the default simulation settings though.

    Who IS That?

VERY. But since I don't know much about those, I thought it was just me. I also hid the black sash that goes behind it, I don't know if that would help "soften" the look or not. I wish the Obi was thinner, I had a lot of pokethrough when I tried to slim it down. Just a bit unweldy.  And the material is REALLY crumpled behind it, didn't look good or gathered enough to show the waist when I hid the Obi. I didn't spend a lot of time on it though, so I'm sure other users may have better luck.

Typically, they're supposed to be stiff.

Good to know! Thanks!   (But man, that would be uncomfortable I would think.)

Take a look at these women in traditional kimonos and see what I mean:

  • All of the Obis I've ever seen were made of silk or silk brocade and soft the only stiffness was in the back where it was tied and that had to do with the amount of fabric involved

They generally are wrapped very tightly around the waist kinda like a corset without stays ar an ace bandage would probably be more accurate

They also tend to use a board to support the small of the back.

Just have to vent..l too had a PayPal order reversed but then Daz took the money anyway out of my store credit plus an extra amount from my PayPal balance, charging twice from my PayPal balance but did not put any of the items I purchased in my library as being purchased and I explained in detail with the order number and screenshots in the first post and they keep giving me the runaround asking me to get another gift card although they already deducted that amount from my store credit and keep asking for everything I posted in the first post and they just don’t READ what I wrote! So frustrated I threatened them with the Better Business Bureau for the second time because they don’t read what you write and keep the ticket open forever asking for things you already posted over a week ago. I’m just getting so fed up!

Seriously I’m ready to contact the BBB and stop shopping here. I know they are bombarded with complaints but if they just read the initial complaint they could resolve things quicker rather than upsetting the customer, dragging things on forever asking for what you already submitted! Aaaaaaaaaargh. So frustrated with them!

You and me both. I'm STILL trying to get customer service on track. They took the (rounding the numbers) $96 out of store credit. The response from support that I got was that Paypal did indeed cancel the order for the $10 part of it.
So,  In my Orders, it says CANCELLED.  I am adamant that it is not. When I put the order through the second time at Paypal's request- it went through.
So then, get how screwed up this is. It went through TWICE that day, over at Paypal, with  two $10 amounts.
Then Paypal cancelled BOTH orders, the first one that never went through, and the second one that DID. The first one never charged though. So only $10 is involved.
Then five days later, PayPal refunded that $10 to my bank account, without another word to me about it.
So Daz is right Paypal cancelled the order (the SECOND one, that Paypal seemingly DID approve.)
    BUT-

Daz TOOK $96 store credit out. So that means it was PAID FOR except for that $10.
I've asked support to just take the $10 out of my current gift card.
I could care less actually, as I downloaded all the products already, and installed a second set. So I have them. But the order says cancelled and I insist that it isn't as it's PAID FOR.

Store credit from now on. Not worth the hassle, totally agree. Daz had better be talking to PayPal to see why the gateway is throwing red flags at PayPal. Daz was really good at keeping the products in my Product Library/DIM. So they didn't mess up there. It's just having that CANCELLED on that order in My Orders that is getting my goat.

So Britney solved it with applying store credit. They asked me to purchase that $10ish amount in a separate gift card (so we could keep things straight) and I did, and they applied it and created a new order with all those products and the sale prices. So it's all solved. Paypal is the one who we have to keep our eyes on, frankly. They didn't send me any notification whatsoever that they canceled the second attempt that had gone through. (With a payment confirmation and even an order number.)

Going to be 43 degrees here tonight, with a real feel of 38. I have the tent made for the stray cat of 6 years, to keep him toasty, and Stetson has his blankie on. (The fleece, not the heavy quilt.)  Welcome to winter in the South. Can't complain, it's November 9th, and a couple days ago I had the top down on the convertible. So what's it like where you folks are? Temperature tomorrow will be 58 for the high.

  • 52 here in Harlingen at 2300hrs calling for a high of 58 tommorrow. Supposed to have a low of 39 on Tuesday

I've had my doors open all day and the cats have had a blast running from the front to the rear and back and tackleing each other along the way

Here right now, it's 3.17pm and 26 C (79 F) and humidity 63%. I actually have a nice breeze coming through the window in the computer room for a change, but I also have a fan blasting at me. LOL. I'm dripping in sweat tho as I just rearranged my office (glare from the window was getting into my eyes in the afternoon) - have you ever tried to screw a shelf to the wall on your own??? One shoulder leaning against it to keep it up, two hands on the damn screwdriver cos the screw kept shooting off in every direction until it was in the wall enough (yeah I remembered afterwards you can put blu-tack on the wall to keep the screw steady but it was too late ha ha ) On the other hand I DID remember the trick to putting the powerboard on the wall - put a piece of tape across the back and mark on it with a pen where the screw holes are, then put the tape on the wall, screw in the screws and then remove the tape. Easy peasy. Heh. I'm off for a shower tho - cooling down a bit but still sweaty. We're heading into summer here - I am NOT looking forward to Dec/Jan temps. UGH. Disgusting.

We get warm weather this time of year for some reason. I live in the fog belt of the pacific coast so generally our summer is around september, october and november. Temps are in the 70's at daytime (of course when I'm stuck indoors at work) and it is supposed to be freezing soon, so it gets cold at night.

I finally can get me budgie Jack to climb onto my hand to take millet spray but usually Jill his mate has to eat perched on my hand first to help entice his trust as he is more leary! I guess this is a disconnect between his taste buds and seeing a big hand that had only ever chased and caught him when he was at the breeder's home. laugh Repeating taming exercises with paitence and eventually I will be able to easily take them from their cage so I can clean it while they wait. I hate chasing them around to get them out of their cage so I open the top and they usually will fly out the top without repeated attempts to perch them on my hand. They are still more likely to flee my hand in the cage than outside the cage although they are getting better.

And sometime I'll have to try and record a video of Jack doing this 5 - 10 minute crazy song and dance as if either he's jealous of Jill sitting on my hand eating milletspray or maybe that song and dance is meant to tell budgies in the surrounding area that he knows of a high fat seed source to share. I just know he doesn't do that song and dance unless I'm feeding milletspray to them and Jill is sitting on my hand eating and he's taken a nip or too of the milletspray himself before he starts dancing and singing. I didn't know budgies had so many naturals sounds they could make. At least I think all those sounds are natural to budgies but I'm not sure. I'm afraid I don't know much yet of natural budgie & cockatiel behaviour to be very efficient at training them yet.

Rio the cockatiel is same old grouch except I can now get him to practically run to my finger now to perch if I let him see a spray of millet before I say 'come here'. He doesn't always do that though. Birds have wills of their own I guess too. Before I'd have to make often many multiple attempts before he'd finally grudgingly climb on my finger to perch. I'm still going to get him a mate though, I know that's why he's grouchy. That is not a bird that was raised from the nest 1st & foremost with a person as a companion in mind, he had a cockatiel as companion for years. When I take the spray of millet away though he wastes no time jumping back off my finger before I can even say go home so that's frustrating because I need him to come here & go home on command so I can do things easily like take him out of his cage to clean the cage. I'll have to win his trust over a longer period of time and taper off on the milletspray and eventually use the milletspray only to try & teach him new tricks but I'm just trying to learn how to teach tricks & words now with no success so far.

I have visitors from Germany so I am not doing that much with the birds for the next few weeks.

Wow - big difference a few hours travel makes ... I'm on the opposite side of FL from Novica who's expecting low 40s,  I'm just a 45minute trip inland from the St. Augustine/Daytona Beach (north east) coast and just past 3 AM here  as I write this and 70 degrees outside. It is cooling this weekend, the forecast says, and so will only be mid-70s for the high today; previously this week we've been in the 80s or better.
