Szundown, I would be very surprised indeed if you really do recognize the character I based this model off of, though there is always a chance--it's an obscure NPC in an old Star Wars computer game. However, that said, it also happens to look enough like Christopher Lambert (of Highlander fame) that I think I'll actually try to get a closer likeness to that actor. If you do recognize him as an obscure decade old Star Wars NPC, awesome.
Scott, thanks for the tips; I'll see if I can figure out anything about displacement maps at some point. The CheekToMouthSlope looks like the closest thing to what I'm looking for, might have to pick that set up some time.
Christopher Lambert is who I thought it looked like.
It does look a lot like him. The biggest difference I see is in the lips.
This is what I'm working on so far. Actually HAD planned to make another render for the PC item contest... but somehow I started ended up playing with the morphs instead, and decided to keep this guy for this ^^
He could need some scars to fit my image of him, and he need finetuning... but so far so good, here is Aldrak (name might change along the way)
Sorry I missed this one, Carola! This is a good start; he has a very distinctive appearance. I think the name is fitting.
In order to clarify one of the rules, I made a slight wording change:
Instead of: "You must use a variety of morphs from different sources in the creation of your character," Rule 7 now reads, "You must use a variety of morphs from different products in the creation of your character." This was my original intent, but it occurred to me that the wording wasn't clear and that some people might be misinterpreting the meaning of "sources" to be vendors or websites (you certainly can use morphs from a variety of different vendors or websites if you wish to, but the rules don't require it).
Freebie morph sets ARE considered "products" as far as that rule is concerned, and that includes the basic morphs that come with Genesis Starter Essentials.

Don't be sorry for missing it, there is a lot of things going on in this thread after all *smiles* I probably should go back and give the poor Aldrak some more love too... had to put him on the shelf for a bit *grins*
This version is less shiny I hope, and a good bit more like Christopher Lambert. I will sit on it a bit before I enter it though, to see if I figure out anything to change.

That's really good...looks just like him! I'm having trouble spotting a significant difference, actually. If anything, I think your character's jaw might be slightly too strong and/or too angular...maybe. The M5 Philip skin works perfectly for him, in my opinion.
Here's one that really shows off how powerful Genesis is when it comes to create believable characters quickly. I was putting together an image I was going to enter in the New Treasures contest, and I wanted three Japanese "salaryman" indulging in that notorious cell phone practice known as "upskirting." The catch was that I only had one Asian male morph that I thought looked reasonably close to the general Japanese genotype, and that was a young man. So, I opted to create a few older fellows based around some older gentlemen I know in Tokyo, and was particularly pleased with the results on this old rogue who I've dubbed "Mister Watanabe."

@Sasje: Great job...instantly recognizable in my opinion. Still looks slightly cartoonish to me though (though maybe that's intentional...nothing wrong with it as a stylistic choice)...I think it's in the cheeks and/or the jaw. Great expression too.
@XaatXuun: nice character...she looks unique yet vaguely familiar. The jawline looks a bit masculine, but of course some women are built that way. Kind of hard to put an age on her...she looks youthful yet mature, as if she's lived a long time but hasn't really aged.
@Cybersox13: I particularly like the one where he's bald and smiling. In that image he looks just like a Japanese salaryman (I used to live and work in Japan). The others strike me as somehow "off," but I'm not exactly sure why (could be just the shine of the skin, but I think the eye morphs could perhaps use some attention too). He looks great in your final image in the other thread--the image overall is very well done.

Yes, the smiling one definitely works best, which is why he's also grinning in the finished shot. I suspect it's partially because his teeth are so big and the pose accents the jowl-iness, and partially because that's the one with the least skin shine. (My wife's first comment was also about the shininess, and specifically how it softened the lips.) He's also far more interesting when he's reacting to something, but since this is a thread about morphs, I did the two on the bottom with only the base neutral expression. I'll go back and re-render those with a few tweaks before submitting to the actual contest.
My favourite render when it comes to Mr Watanabe is the first one. The eyes' pose is lovely and enamorating :P! Just as if he was saying: "I'm not the top hunk, but I have that special thing!", che, che :). I wonder if you could smooth the nose though, it's a little bit too cracked for a Japanese in my opinion. But it can be intentional, I don't know. Do you plan to add some background and maybe additional characters on the final render? A little Japanese kid, for instance (he is kind of a grandpa, right?).
I also have a question regarding my submission of it's okay. Should I write down the poses too? For Fossey-Weaver, I used one of D5's basic poses, whereas gorillas make use of Gorilla for Genesis' presets. Yet, I had to seriously tweak each of them, as my morphs were original ones and required some changes. Besides, what should I change in the gorillas please?

No need to write down preset poses or Pose Controls formulas, but you're welcome to do so if you'd like to. Same goes with expressions.
Regarding your question about the gorillas...if you want to withdraw your image from the contest I'd be happy to give some feedback. You could then make changes, if you wish, and re-submit to the contest. (This option is open to anyone)
I want to keep things flexible but I'd rather not break my self-imposed rule of not commenting on submitted entries until after the contest has closed.
Aldrak were given some more love.. and I even tested him i na few poses. He now has more of his character and also his almost hidden soul (unless one looks at the right time)
Here is what I think might be the final version of him... going to put it in here first, let ppl say what they like and don't like etc.. and also give me a chance to think and than look at him again :)
And I just realised by putting that picture here.. I need to make new renders for him before posting it into the netry thread. Didn't thought of that when I made that little collage *laughs*

Mister Watanabe says that, "if enamorating means what he thinks it does, he finds you very attractive as well and hopes that you will accept this photo, suitable for framing, as a token of his regard."
Sadly, I'm afraid that Mister Watanabe is not a grandfather (that he knows of.) He does, however, have a definite fondness for young girls, but probably not quite as young or in the way that you are thinking. :0
(I tried a couple of different sets of lights for this image, turned the specularity down and he still came out pretty shiny. I'd never realized how glossy the base skin was, but I really like the mole on the cheek for the character...)
And I just realised by putting that picture here.. I need to make new renders for him before posting it into the netry thread. Didn't thought of that when I made that little collage *laughs*
Actually that's not necessary: this works like the New User Contest in that respect...no problem posting your final entry to the WIP thread and the entry thread because they're both considered aspects of the contest. But don't post elsewhere until it's in the entries thread.
I probably should have made that clearer in the rules, though...
Ah ok, that's nice.. though I probably will atleast do more renders with him anyway.. so we will see :) I do like that collage so it probably will be one of the pics used *grins* Have to admit I have jsut finished making his home... *sheepish smile* so that will probably also be in a render or two *laughs*
This is so fun *give Scott a hug for the awesome idea*

Lara Croft, I assume? Unless it's Angelina Jolie, that is. Looks to me like a compromise between the video game version of Lara and the movie version.
Just a WIP. :)
Try to make Angelina from the Tomb raider movie, I had to fix a few things
I might give this a try
WIP : Agnes
pretty much done with the dials, just need a background and do some lighting , or at least some lighting

That would be perfect, Chohole, could you please go ahead with it? You could give your feedback then. Thank you in advance.
