@illysArt I know what you're going through! A couple of years ago I fractured my right shoulder and could not move my right arm at all (except when a nurse came in to help me with special exercises so I didn't get "frozen shoulder.") But I had to eat with my left hand, type, etc...  It was over 90 degrees out and my apartment doesn't have air conditioning and is like a hot box, and I couldn't even put my hair up in a ponytail without someone's help and I live alone. I had to have a nurse help me shower! I felt like I had turned into a geriatric person overnight!  I had friends open a ton of water bottles whenever they were over because I couldn't even do that! I remember I bought drawing paper and pastels from Amazon and tried to teach myself to draw with my left hand LOL. So I know what you're going through! Instead of getting irritated, just look at it as a fun challenge (I know that sounds weird) but in my mind, I made everything into a challenge from a reality TV show, imagining I would win a prize if I could just complete this one challenging thing (like picking up ice cubes that had fallen on the kitchen floor with my parents' picker-up thingie with my left hand. I couldn't even bend down withoutout excruciating shoulder pain.)  Get better soon!

@Wonderland I missed this post before. I apologize.

The warmth from the community is beyond amazing. I am trying to keep my chin up. Pain turns me into a different person, largely unlikeable. There are lots of people worse off an/or facing bigger challenges. I do keep trying to tell myself to chill.

    Stay cool.

Pain tend to turn anyone into a different person, it's only human. So don't worry about that, just try to hang in there *offer coffee/tea*

You aren't alone. I have chronic pain, and one day my family held an intervention of sorts. They asked me to please take pain medication on bad days, as I was very grouchy when I was "doing the right thing" by not taking pain meds and just bearing it. So now I slug caffeine and pain meds on bad days, and they live with a nicer person, LOL.

This is my ''Ollie morph" with the Genesis 8 essentials, t-shirt and shorts. The pose and expressions come straight out of the pack, but I tried D-force on the t-shirt and shorts. I have very little idea what I'm doing with D-force ... I need to read the relevant threads, but I wanted to see what happened. I wasn't supposed to be doing this today, but you know how it is. Playing is part of learning. Strange things happened to the shorts, but I love the draping on the t-shirt.

I know, I don't have very fast broadband, so I'm planning on doing one at time. Doing it over mealtimes etc.

I grabbed Ollie yesterday, pulling forward my budget for next month. I know I shouldn't but hey, the discount was just so good! I added Atlas to the basket because of the possibilities of morphing a toon style character between them. This is my first attempt at morphing Ollie. I've was aiming for a caricature/ toon style.

    Head:

    • Ollie 30%
    • Owen 20%
    • Strkyer 20%
    • Atlas 30%

    Body:

    • Ollie 40%
    • Kasigo 20%
    • Kieron 30%

I stopped rendering both early, so they are a little grainy.

    1. Full Body

    2. Head and shoulders with hair.

This is a really cute morph.

I have a lot more respect for those who have chonic pain. This is just injury. It's not as bad as yesterday so hopefully tomorrow will be better than today. :)

    Thanks a lot everyone!

That was a surprise! My fat bike image won the PC inspiration contest for March 14-27. First time I've managed that.

Been there, done that. Still doing therapy exercises daily.

I do hope you have a speedy recovery, and the pain soon becomes a distant memory.

@Mollytabby, Ollie looks good there. The shorts look about right to me, At least they aren't hovering an inch or two above the leg.

And I positively love the new avatar!

How do I check your gallery?

I actually don't have much in it.

Were you the one with the awesome pic w thrown dirt, etc.?

That was by Mollytabby's (and I agree it was awesome). Mine was the one with the rope bridge. You can see both plus many others with the bike in the PC Inspiration thread.

@L'Adair, Thank you for the well wishes. I'm a lot quieter on the boards when I can play with my art. LOL ... Getting good at the one handed typing. Bah ha ha! Mine is an evil laugh.

    @agentunwares and @L'Aair , than you :-)

L'Adair, I never really liked my old avatar, I wanted something with a bit more character :-)

@RCcincy, your winning PC Inspiration image is absolutely amazing. You must have spent hours setting those figures up and it is so atmospheric. I try to enter each week because it helps me to improve. Every render teaches me something new. I aspire to be able to draw people into the distance as you have in your render. I love all the creativity.

I've been busy yesterday and today doing the New User pose challenge. I've learnt so much doing this. I'm still tweeking things and I'll probably be going right to the deadline at this rate, lol. After that I'll continue with the G3F renders.  @Fishtales, I have that dress and only I've tried it once. It renders beautifully in your images.

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

@fishtales   Love the warm overtone, it really suits her hair color, and the side lighting shows her features very nicely.

Most people probably already know this, but I only fully understood it today and am relaying a warning to any other "dummies" out there. If an outfit has a hierarchical material preset, that means that you select the figure wearing it, and the materials will automatically apply to all pieces of the outfit that the character is wearing. Which is pretty cool, until you try to fit the outfit to a different figure, and the materials won't work.

I had this problem with one Genesis 8 Female outfit, put in a refund with product error because I couldn't figure out what was going on, then tested another G8F outfit, accidentally stumbled upon how it was supposed to work, and now I'm requesting a refund (without product error) on that one as well.

It's a legitimate design decision by the PAs involved and/or Daz, but it renders the products less than useful to me personally.

If there are only Hierarchicaal presets you could apply them, with the items fitted to its intended target, and then save out regular Materials presets for each piece.

What I want to know is, which products were these? It wouldn't stop me from buying, (or keeping,) an outfit, but I'd love the heads up so I can do what Richard just suggested now, before I need them, and while I still know which ones they are!

Well it finally got to be a good sale if you got the Ollie Pro Bundle. (After what they did with Aiko for what, almost two weeks, it was a no brainer to get the Pro Bundle and an extra 10% off the rest of March Madness probably. Plus the bundle did have a variety.)

Anyway, with the two newly mad releases and extra 30% off, I thought I would load up the cart and show you some prices. My logic is set and outfits which also have discounted textures. There's SO many outfits that I waited on getting the textures, and so I went looking for the DOs. Nows the time to scoop those up!  There's also several vendors who are BOTH in the stores, so if you see a texture you like, be sure and click the Required Products and see if the outfit is featured also. You can get a clue from what I've tested here. (Tested $500 for you in the cart.)  Note all vendors are not represented, as these results all depend on what I already own. Textures are never high on my list unless deeply discounted, so that's what shows up for me. Although there are shaders, some of these prices make it tempting if you like the textures. Look for the DO's.

Obviously, not keeping all these, it's just to show you what is getting good discounts.

MORE COMING. THIS IS ABOUT HALF. Note what outfits are in the list, that have discounted textures (and the great prices on other textures.)  Click to enlarge, the images are coming out darker. They still won't be great as I don't have time to postwork all these.

    observations:

The Intimates for Genesis 8 Male Choice textures give you a lot of options for t-shirt materials. (see required product.)
If you have the Giant Monster Spider, grab the textures and really expand his looks!
Hellion HD for Anneka Demon really changes her.
Autumn Sorrow has a great park environment with trees and grass, etc.
Other sets include Ghost Chamber, The Isle of Mythos, Dauphin, Creepy Attic, Counting House (and with snow.)
Now's a great time to get Lillyanna and her expansion, both on sale. Makes a great child (and shown in promos)
    Check out Miellyn's makeups.
De Nimes Outfit is for Genesis 8 males, and 78% off, so if you are in the future going to G8M, it's a nice starter outfit.
Love the dForce Open Shoulder Dress- the textures are also on sale.
Garden Gala Outfit is a fun family friendly outfit, textures also on sale.
April Rain textures are on sale, but main outfit isn't. I grab textures anyway if they really change up an outfit. These do. (See outfit.)
Stealth Siren AND textures on sale at same time. Likewise with the Pastel Goth Outfit. Great for kitbashing.

Not nearly so many things in my cart, @Novica. And I need to decide which products to remove as I just don't want to spend that much today. My "generous" gift card purchase won't last the month at this rate!

Trying to decide between Pascale Hair and Karissa Hair. Any thoughts, Anybody?

@serenenight  LOL, okay, what did YOU buy today?  I'm rendering a few things I bought. Coming up shortly, I have another window open as we speak and working on it.

The shop is kind of broken for me right now... Looks like the image below.

I did buy yesterday. Bought Slosh's excellent Chef's outfit, and before that, I bought some of Ollie's content.

I'm looking for a good kitchen with a refrigerator but so far, I'm striking out. The fridge is either too toony, or doesn't open.
