~GASP~ You wouldn't!!! Besides, the "naughty corner" doesn't reside on this forum sir, and the forum it does reside on, well I have the last word (except for you know who). ~mwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha~

Now, if you feel french, it is Ricard (two parts of water for 1 part of Ricard (for real men!) with an aditional ice cube), Pernod is for the tourists or "pseudo-frenchies"! ^_-

And don't forget, I am german, so "Pils und 'n Schnaps" will do nicely, not that I don't like Ricard but I was raised with beer.

I have both at home (gifts from my cousins in Bourgogne ) What about Pastis 51 (Got one of those too I think). And the mxing 2 for 1 sounds familiar ;-)

I'm glad you didn't say Liebfraumilch (must be the worst tasting wine ever invented)
I real German beer is always good!

Well you know, wars started over that question, if you come to my area of France, to be on the safe side, just order "un jaune".

Chances are that you get a Ricard, but what ever it will be, you don't start a war about which mark is better.

Still can't quite get all the fireflies out of this one, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Yes, it's more classic deco, this time with a more family-oriented role. Reminds me that I really need the full millennium cat, or at least some decent textures.

Pendraia (?sp) did some fur shaders for the Mil Cat as a freebie, but I suspect they'd not carry over into LuxRender via Reality, though I do not think I have tried.

Art Deco reminds me of the BBC Poirot series. Though he doesn't look like Suchet's Poirot. Slightly expressionist lighting to go with the period.

Very nice. What did you use for your city backdrop?

I tried and they don't work, sadly :-S Though LAMH does, I think.

It's a couple of Dystopia blocks scaled up.

Grab your old red/blue 3D goggles, I have done some testing, rendering stereo images:

Just wondering, what sort of render times are people getting with Classic Deco? I've tried two different setups, the supplied lighting, and applying Uber AreaLight to the light surfaces. Straightforward scene, looking straight in at the room with all furniture loaded and nothing else added. So far I've always had to quit the render after a couple of hours with under 10% (sometimes well under) completed. This is using the current version of D|S4.5 and my system is powerful enough I usually get moderately complex scenes completely rendered in under half an hour. Is there anything fancy in Reflection or something that would cause these long render times?

that would also depend on the Area Lighting and Advanced Render settings to make any sort of guess if it's taking longer than it should compared to others with similar speced computers. I don't have this set and am running a P3 machine (don't ask) at the moment so I am not keen to test it. :)

Actually you do make an interesting point. The one thing that was immediately apparent when I did my first render with the Classic Deco was how much longer it took to do a render. The odd thing is that I couldn't see a reason for it. I've had the entire Sacrament set loaded in and rendered it relatively fast and easily, even with material tweaks to add reflections and the like, but the Classic Deco certainly clocked in at a lot longer render time.

The render above was done with Lux, but even then it required a good 400+ samples, still has fireflies and took over 9 hours to render. It's strange indeed.

There are lots of reflecting surfaces in this set, which are always a bit longer to render.

I honestly have not tried the lightset Jack put in with the set, but using Arealights on the lamp glass and a neutral Softlight at low intensity kept the render time relatively low, about 20 - 30 minutes for 1000x707 pixels.

Check your raytrace depth in the advanced Rendersettings, 3 is enough, you dont want the reflection of the reflection of the reflection of the reflection ....

...I keep the ray depth at 1. Even 2 usually leads to a crash.

I used UberEnvironment2 with a directional light from the outside, with 6-7 bounces, And it didn't take me hours to render the one scene with the Vertex King. The usual times I get are from an hour to an hour and a half at a 2560x2048 resolution. Maybe it's the Arealight stuff you put in that gives you the long rendertimes...?
