In addition to lighting being important, processing a 32-bit file in post is crucial (IMHO). I suspect that re-running this render without changing any lighting, but adding a beauty canvas and tonemapping the resulting EXR file will yield great results!
Under Render Settings -> Advanced -> Canvases, check "Canvases" and then add a beauty canvas. The result will be an EXR file, which you can then open with PShop. I have a background in HDR photography, so I process (tonemap, etc.) the 32-bit output using other proprietary tools that I've authored in the past, but there's a lot you can do with pShop alone.
Here's a link to a thread by Esemwy (who is extremely knowledgable and has been generous enough to create some fantastic documentation):

It should be really helpful getting started with canvases. Hope this helps!
- Greg
PS - I like the image already and am looking forward to seeing it properly tonemapped ;)
Thank you, Sonja! :D I tried to give it a little bit of a washed out, over exposed look to indicate a very bright day. I was worried I might have over done it. lol
Poop! I didn't save this as a scene. It was just a quick render to play around with the HDRI. Now I wish I could go back and do that. I will keep that in mind for future renders though! I've not used any of the Canvases settings, but I'm looking forward to reading that discussion and playing with it and seeing what I can come up with. Thank you for the link, Greg! :D
I will be reading that discussion as well. Adding it to mile mile long list of things to learn.....
A classic pinup style with an 80's vibe. The Girl 4 with Astrid for S4 skin and Vincent hair (freebie with the Vincent character on ShareCG). I think this one turned out kind of cute. I really like The Girl 4. I've not bought the Girl 6 and I think she's really pretty, but I'm hoping they release The Girl 7 - I'm trying to hold out for her. *crosses fingers*
I entered this in the June Freebie Contest. Everything in it are freebies except the girl (she's V7 with a few morphs - which where also free). lol
I hope I win! I could REALLY use the store credit! :) I'm like on the edge of my seat until they announce the winners! :D
The blue light looks really good illuminating her skin, Diva. It's a great contrast to the sky, and the sky coloring the shadows on her is a nice touch, too - excellent!
- Greg
Thank you, Greg! :D Setting up the lighting on this was a real learning experience. One I enjoyed. I feel like I have a bit more knowlege of lighting now and more tools in my tool box for future works. :) Thank you for the sweet comment!
Experementing with AllenArt's freebie Jewelry Shaders. Bikini and Set are shaded with them. I love how colorful it made the set!
Iray render with light post work in Photoshop.
Diva, the Sugar for V4 bundle is back on sale today for $4.00.
Grab it while it's hot!
Ahhhhhh Thank you! That's so cheap! I'm so broke though. lol I hope I can get it. I'm going to try and find a way - I doubt it will be that cheap again. Thanks so much for letting me know, Jack! *hug*
Playing around with the new weekly PC Club Freebie. It's my first Sci Fi set and I may have gone overboard with the shiney and the glowy. lol At least that's what my computer told me when I tried to render the scenes. I ended up having to make them TEENY TINY (as you can see) because my computer was like "WTH is this? Are you trying to kill me woman?" and then wheezed and groaned and nearly died. lol
Poor computer! I like the renders, though. Nice job!
Grabbed that today too but haven't even had a chance to download it. those look great! Poor baby it may have complained but it did it a nice job of it anyway lol.
Thank you, Knittingmommy! :D I appreciate you coming by and leaving your support! *hug*
I did a few mods with it. I changed the lighting color and brightness from those lit panels and lit buttons and added some glass and metalic shaders. I kind of went crazy with AllenArt's jewelry shaders. lol I adore those shaders but they definitely are taxing on the computer when you shade large surfaces with it and then add a bunch of emissive lighting. I really like the Sci Fi set though and am going to try some renders of it "out of the box" without adding a bunch of custom shaders. I'm sure it will cut down on the render time by a lot. heheh
Thank you for your lovely comments, Sonja! I hope you do some renders with this Sci Fi set - I'd love to see what you do with it! :D
I really like all of AllenArts shaders he has some really nice stuff. I am hoping if we don't go camping this weekend to work on some projects. We shall see.
Sounds good! If you go camping, I hope you have fun! :D
You have some great artwork here, I really like the G3 skin you did and your posing and lighting is looking really good. That scifi picture above is good, she kinda has a saucy attitude leaning against the wall like that
Hahah Thanks, Kharma! I was going for saucy/sassy, so I'm happy that it was able to came across that way. :) Thank you for the lovely comments - I appreciate the feedback!
I'm really loving my newest character, Rebeca by BestmanPi. He's amazing to offer his beloved character to us as a freebie! I can't believe it's a free character - it's better than like 99% of the bought characters I have. lol
I've been obsessed with this character for months so when BestmanPi posted it as a freebie, I thought I was dreaming! lol I made some mods to her mats (she basically used V7 mats, so I'm using my own mats which are a version of V7 mats that I have modified quite a bit). I also did some slight mods to her body. I haven't touched her face though, as I think it's pretty much perfect! I hope he's not offended by the mods. :) I just wanted to personalize her a little bit. :D
Where Pray tell did you get this amazing creature at for free?
I am so jealious!!!!
Truely great renders though Diva you did her justice for sure!!
Aww Thanks! I'm glad you like the renders. Sadly, I don't do her nearly the justice that her creator does - his gallery is filled with AMAZING images of her: http://bestmanpi.deviantart.com/gallery/
He does really incredible work, his renders are gorgeous!
You can get Rebeca's shape here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/85539/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Rebeca-R3.09
And her shader (very important) here: http://www.sharecg.com/v/83595/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Rebeca-shaders
She uses Victoria 7 mats, so you have to have V7 to get her to look right. However if you don't have V7 she might look decent with your favorite G3 skin textures. I haven't tried her with any other textures though other than her default textures (V7) and the textures that I made. So I can't guarantee she'll look as good with other G3 textures. :)
If you get her and do some renders I'd love to see - definitely send me the links so I can check 'em out! :D
These look great, Diva. Have you tried rendering to .exr (32-bit) and tonemapping yet?
- Greg
you ve got me inspired
Rebecca out of the box
No, I don't know how to do that - I'm not even sure what that is? lol What does it do? :)
Lovely! That hair looks great on her! :) Thank you for showing me. I enjoy this character a lot and am interested in seeing what other people do with her.
Very impressive work -- both 3D and 2D. You have a nice, solid style that is instantly commercial -- and in comics work, that's a good thing. I personally like your I Dream of Jeannie coloring the best. The soft pinks actually look like real fabric in the way you colored them. Your face morphs of the girl with the glasses are VERY impressive. That looks like a commercial product to me. I like seeing faces that have some character and don't look like another vapid model.
Aww Thank you for the lovely comments, Mitchell! You put a big smile on my face! I love working with comics and am looking forward to trying to find a way to marry my 2D work and 3D work. I might be using 3D work more in the future to make some comic book art - I'm looking foward to seeing if it's viable for my commercial work. I've never done anything with 3D for commercial work, but I'm hopefull I can find a way to make it happen in the future as I'm really enjoying working with 3D. :)
Thanks again for the sweet comments! :D I really appreciate the feedback and support!
Practically speaking, tonemapping is the process of going from 32-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) file (in DS this means .exr file output), to the usual 8-bit files we are all used to dealing with. While Studio can tonemap, doing it in post makes the process non-linear (meaning you can play with different tonemappings without having to re-render). Doing so also gives you many more options for exactly how that tonemapping occurs. Photoshop has many HDR options, and there are tons of HDR processing programs out there that offer things such as local adaption of exposure, as opposed to simply globally adjusting the exposure, etc.
If you scroll up a few posts, you'll find a quick how-to (about rendering .exr output in DS):

If you've got any specific questions, I'll try to help as much as I can. Can't stress enough how beneficial I believe learning how to render/process 32-bit output is - it can change your life! Here's an example (you've seen before) showing the DS tonemapped output from DAZ, vs. the post tonemapped output of the exact same scene:
Here's a link to another example of tonemapped 32-bit output:
