Those platforms are on my list... the reptile dude looks awesome.  Love the skeletone in the cape as well. I think sunset works better than grey in that one for sure.

I think I'm just going to bow out of this month's new user contest.  My render wasn't working the way I wanted.  You know when you are doing something and it speaks to you, you know it's going to turn out great.  Not with this one.  It really wasn't telling any story. The best way to describe my feelings about it is... meh.

So it's off to something else.  I just picked up a whole slew of Ron's brushes and am going to be working with those.  There are some ideas kicking around in my head and I think I'll work on those instead.

So here's the last iteration of Saturday Afternoon Routine, and this will be it.

Just foolin' around here.  Thought I would try to put some eyeballs in the skeleton - and they look pretty good.

I superimposed Victoria 5 Supermodel on top of V4 Skeleton, and then turned off the visibility to everything but Vicky's eyes.  Found a spooky eye texture which I made glow a little and added a little lighting.  Not bad for 15 minutes of work.

I know that feeling all to well.  Sometimes taking a break will help things.  Sometimes you just have to move on.

Some of my best renders are little quickies that didn't take much time.

  • dracorndracorn Posts: 2,345

Sometimes I go back to those quick renders and make something of them.

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

Totally know that feeling.  I bowed out due to lack of time and focus. Mostly lack of time but definitely some lack of focus as well.

    Love the skeleton.

I do a lot of quickies.  I have a whole folder of quickies that I like enough to take to the next step and will come back to on the days I have time to do them justice.

Yeah, there are absolutely no posts in the entry thread and it's the last week.  I looked up last June - in 2015, it had half the entries of the other months.  Maybe people are just too busy in June.

I've got some pretty cool ideas for a skeleton... not sure when I will do it but I have everything I need.

Yep, I can understand perfectly about having those feelings about certain renders.  While I've worked on a scene for the theme of the month when time permitted (lots of projects going on) I haven't actually done a render of it and seriously doubt I will manage to get anything up for the contest.  I'm really surprised, though, that there haven't been any entries for this month yet.

Dracorn, I love that skeleton!  I think it would be perfectly for a spooky haunted house scene or something.  I don't think I ever thought of just putting the eyes in the skeleton and hiding everything else.

No entries huh? maybe the three of us should throw something together and sweep the contest lolol.  Kidding!  I really don't think I will have time to do anything.

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

I'm sure there will be a flurry of entries at the last minute.  I can try to finish mine, but I have serious doubts I'll make it.

I've got a wild idea about dolling up the skelly in Vicky's clothes with a cigarette holder in one hand... like one of those old 'smoking is glamerous' ads.  Let's see if I get to it.

Ice Dragon Art - I hope people post.  I saw some really nice renders in the WIP and want to see them in the entry thread. There's also something to be said about winning when there is stiff competition that gives one a greater sense of accomplishment.

That said, I had better get working on my render!  I want to finish it in time.

I was on vacation for the last 10 days or so, but got back in time to submit my earlier render.

Hey, welcome back, TJ! I hope the vacation was fun!

  • IceDragonArtIceDragonArt Posts: 12,548

Ya its no fun unless there is competition.  I just have a weird sense of humor. Hopefully everyone is just waiting til the last minute.

Hey, welcome back, TJ! I hope the vacation was fun!

It was great!   One of my nieces got married and then we spent the following week at the beach.

Unfortunately, I had to come back to work........

Yeah, that thing called work can be such a pain at times.  The only good thing about it is the paycheck!  :)

I'm just waiting to come up for air.  I swear I'm doing the work of 2 people right now.  Just finished a 14 hour day yesterday.  I just have to get through July and I think it will calm down.  The whole project will be over at the end of August, then maybe I can get back to sane hours.  I am very fortunate to be able to work from home, though.

What do you do, if you don't mind my asking? And, yeah, being able to work at home is a great thing. :)

What do you do, if you don't mind my asking? And, yeah, being able to work at home is a great thing. :)

I test internal custom business software.  Currently I'm working on an automated phone system, so I get to hear the same prompts over and over.  I write up defects where it's broken and test the fixes.  My work is project-based, so it's constantly changing.  Suits a geek like me very nicely.

I don't typically work long hours like this, so this project is out of the ordinary for me.  Working from home is great because I bought a house in the country and the commute was way to long when the traffic increased.  Even a 12 hour days at home is better than a 4 hours committing every day.  Now my commute is a stroll down the hallway.

And no, I don't work in my jammies.  I have my two cage-free budgies in the office with me.  Listening to them sing is very calming.  However, they can be a challenge when I am on a conference call and I have to quiet them down.  There was the time when one bird disconnected my call during a conference by jumping on my phone.  Apparently, little birdie feet can qualify as a tap.  So I called back and said, "sorry, my call was cut off..."

These are my little buds, Sunny and Shayne.

They are adorable!  That's funny about one of them disconnecting your call.  As for your job, it sounds interesting.  Not that part about listening to the same prompts over and over, but the variety of different projects.  I do have to say that, sometimes, I do work in my jammies, but, then, being a wannabe author, I am sometimes writing at the oddest hours in the middle of the night because inspiration struck while I was sleeping.  I do try to dress most days as I go about my normal day stuff.

I would love to work from home but I do have the next best thing. I work 5 minutes from home, super flexible hours, lots of paid time off, great office atmosphere, great boss, been there 20 years really relaxed dress code although not to the point of pj's lol.

And your buddies are super cute!

    Glacier Queen:

I just picked this up during the last sale.  It has a couple of problems - looks like some things may have broken in D/S since it was created for V4 by Arki some years ago.  I had opened up a ticket for it.

These are the problems (and how I fixed them):

Elbow Distortion - apply Smoothing Modifiers.

No autofollow - manually apply Fit To Victoria 4.

This complete, here is a test render in 3Delight (I applied Omnifreaker's Simple Surface Base).  She is holding Dragonkeeper's staff with Gemologica shaders applied, because it's missing textures (fix coming).  There's a lot of Runtime stuff needing fixes, but considering how many items they are converting to D/S, it is understandable.

Thats very cool!  I picked up the ocean queen bundle but haven't had time to do anything with it.  The fix has been released and it looks like all the missing parts are now there but again, haven't had time to test it out lol.

  • KnittingmommyKnittingmommy Posts: 8,191

Yeah, I think I picked that bundle up, too.  I haven't actually tried anything I picked up in that sale yet.  I know a few were having problems with missing textures and stuff, too.  I figure I'll have a go at everything I got over the weekend and see what they managed to get fixed this week.  I already had a few items in the sale, but, so far, they haven't transferred over into my product library yet.  I'm hoping that gets settled by the weekend, too.

I've kind of just been watching and seeing what type of problems others are having and how they get around them.  Thanks for posting your fix.  It will come in handy, I'm sure, especially, if it takes awhile before they manage a fix in the files.

They are scattered around in figure, pose, props, and the neck mane is somewhere else but I forget and I'm not at my computer. I loaded everything but haven't poses it yet.
