Our Floyd (Maine Coon cat) depopulated a large warren so much that it took 3 years from when he was run over for us to see any rabbits out in daytime again. Now, 10 years on the population has finally recovered and there are always rabbits visible as in Barbult's image. One thing is very wrong, though. Every rabbit is facing the wrong way. Regards, Richard

Gulp - All That Was Left
(No rabbits were used in this render, so it really doesn't belong here, but where else would I put it after the discussion here?)

Oh dear. Errr, would you believe I was trying to disgui...dress up for a surprise party?

As a cottonmouth perhaps? You'll have to slim down quite a bit. I have your Fat Belly morph dialed to max there, since you've just consumed a large meal.

Richard Cottonmouth Coiled and Ready to Strike

(I even have a rabbit in this one! It felt the need to hide from Richard, for obvious reasons.)

Oh dear, oh dear. Naughty bunny, frustrating my attempts to play, all innocent like.

    <hack><hack><heeeve!>

    Heh! Heh! Sorry! Hairball....blush

My strongest association with albatrosses is the Rime of the Ancient Mariner (from whence the term 'albatross around one's neck' originates), but I don't remember any rabbits in there.

Because I was misremembering Watership Down. Sorry. In fact we ar already covered for Keehar https://www.daz3d.com/noggin-s-seagull-set , although thiose are rather old (and I know some of Noggin's birds don't work well in DS), not sure if Songbird remix has a black-headed gull.

Alessandro, thanks a lot for the lovely rabbits! I only now got to test them the first time and they are absolutely adorable!

I do have two small nitpicks, one concerning the running pose. so if you do some reworking maybe have a look at that as well.

your running pose preset has the front legs outside the hindlegs as here in the first render

but rabbits and hares run with the frontlegs between their hindlegs as I've shown in the following renders

I did bent up the tail further as well

Also rabbits don't have naked toebeans wink

Oh no, I hadn't seen these mistakes yet ... That's not very accurate, both of it. At least the toes should be fixed I think, this messes up the rear view completely. Soles of rabbits' feet are covered in fur, just like the upper side, only often in a lighter color. Dear Alesssandro, can you please correct this?

@Linwelly, thanks for pointing this out!

  • Oh the horror... yes I will have to fix those one of these days .

I wonder what the max number of rabbits in a scene is one can render before DS goes on strike.

I'll be waiting for that render, for inspiration I recommend googling Okunoshima, the rabbit island in Japan

    Rabbits' Revenge

Rabbits attack from all sides as Richard runs for the tree to escape. It doesn't look like he'll make it. No more cottontail lunches for him!

Why can't they pick one someone smaller their own size, as cats do (it was tempting to say "like a cat" - but they would have willfully misunderstood, I am sure).

Though really, I just need to jump into the clear space ahead of me and then jump onto the tree trunk - you better believe a cat can fly.

    Richard Escapes

Richard sprang into the empty space between rabbits and literally flew onto the trunk of the tree! The rabbits stood, mouths agape, staring at the unbelievable event before their eyes. Who knew cats could fly?
Evidently they can fly up, but can they fly down? How will Richard get out of that tree?

    Hey, Richard,

You should start taking lessons from your fellow cat, Pixel.

If you can ever learn to walk through walls like him, then you can just walk through trees, earth, rabbits, etc....

    Cats can jump.

(Edit to add: @barbult, excellent work. Totally love it. My gingers have very sharp, long claws and my doorway shows it. Along with my leg.)

Down out of a tree can be a problem.

My avatar cat was frightened of heights, but being a noodle he never worked out that claws worked only one way. So, because he also came down trees head first, he always fell out of them when the trunk became close to vertical. And, being terrified of anything other than a Dog or a Cat, he'd be a wreck in that situation. If the 'Enemy' turned into something as small as a Doberman, he'd be in heaven. He attacked Dobermans and Alsatians for fun, and nearly killed (literally, no exaggaration) another cat having trapped it in a corner of the fences. He weighed 16lb and was pure brutal aggression to cats and dogs, but was frightened of absolutely everything else. Being armed with infected 3/4" long claws and 3/4" canines and being so fast you could barely see him move, there was nothing locally that could stand up to him. He was TOP CAT.

    Regards,

    Richard

Yeah... Some 20+ years ago when I still had a cat, I heard there was a fight going on outside my house and it was loud enough for me to run out into the snow without shoes.

My cat was high up in the tree at the end of a branch and a way bigger neigborhood bully was giving him a beating.
Got my ladder and climbed up,.. Got far enough to drop the bully down but couldn't reach mine.
It took me an hour, standing in the snow on my socks to sweet talk him down the tree

It took a few days before he went out again.

When I first brought home my two gingers, with 7 paws amongst them, faced with three men and me trying to get them into travel carriers so we could evacuate the apartment, they scored destroyed new venetian blinds, three fingers on the manager's hand, my arm, and went zero to sixty as they bounced off walls, furniture, and the bathtub. A year later, Charlie the Older, wandered out of my room to meet the maintenance guy who had been working for hours in the apartment and talking with me. Even sniffed his fingers when offered. Simon the 3 Paw is a harder nut to crack, but you don't want to get on his bad side. He digs in. I swear he must be part rabbit with his rear legs. And zoomies in the middle of the night on top of me, not fun. But they are terrorized everytime they hear a dog bark around us.
