I thought there would be great discounts for Black Friday, but apparently there weren't.

The actual Black Friday is two weeks away. There might be great discounts then. Until then, it's just a marketing gimmick of "pre-Black Friday" offers.

That’s it, I’m not too sure about these festivals, thank you.

I hope the 30% off gift card will come back again.

Me too. $30 as a Buy in for 20% off Gfit card is just too much. Last week 25% was nice, but $250 minimun made it a no can't do for me crying

This last 'stack up' have a few items i really really want. But without decent discouinted credit and not even allowed to stack other codes. Yeah, no so much.

Ya, the sales have been a no go for me because they are all attached to codes which don't allow stacking discounts by buying things from multiple days or even just combining with your monthly coupon. There was a few things on my wishlist that got close to my threshhold for buying, but there is always another sale and I am sure one of those will bring the price I am looking for.

Well Daz has done it. The sales have been so bad since the new Premier offer that I don't buy hardly a darn thing. I used to buy way too much so thank God they have found a way to break me of that terrible habit. I look, but the pricing is so dis-heartening it's pretty easy to pass. The Lightning Deals aren't even worth a look. I agree with what others have said that the skimp wear is not for me, the new toon stuff isn't my favorite - and that's saying something because overall I like the toon and animal items best - and the overall pricing leaves a lot to be desired. It used to be fun to buy Daz but I guess now the thrill is gone.

Perhaps if you were new to Daz and wanting to spend the money for Premier it would be more interesting but if you've been around a while this is certainly a rude change. I don't know if they will ever have sales worth looking at again and once they train us not to look because they are so lame, we may not even see them if they have them. Anyone else feel the same?

My spending is down since Premier started. And we're in the lame spot between big sales. Being second class with Daz+ and the sticker shock of the new programs are both good for limiting my spending. It's not what I envisioned back in March and April. I guess it's for the best.

@RiverMissy I wouldn't worry that there will never be good sales here again - This is Daz site! Even without a membership, there are sometimes great deals to be had. This isn't one of those times, but holiday season is coming.

My issue is most of the items on sale now, i could have had for 97-98% off about 2 weeks ago now, so until those items are back at that price point I won't be interested. I have so much more than I currently use as it is, so I can wait until things are dirt cheap. What I should consider doing this holiday season is buying an on sale 4tb NVME drive so I can get more fast performance out of stuff I don't have installed that I have already bought. Lol

A 4tb NVME would be really nice! Mine is a 2tb NVME PCIE, and I'm filling it rather quickly.

...hmm, no other deals this weekend (the two orange banners don't interest me) save for buying items for a challenge that is not judged on a "1,2,3" finish, but on how much you spend on new releases to use in your entry.  So for about 40 USD and change (for the only 3 "Battle" items that even slightly interest me) I get a one shot chance to win a 300$ GC by 22:59 local time Monday.

Not very good odds for what is basically an "RRRR" (Random Renders) challenge, given the highly "diverse" selection of  item's I'd choose and have to make a fight scene with.. .

Nah, better to sit this weekend out unless one of those rare LDs shows up

...yeah, one is for the Koa and Kai bundles and the other is for the Cloudscape Creator Bare Sky HDRIs.  For the latter you need to already own the original Cloudscape Creator. that came out a couple years ago.  I do but rarely use as it's pretty heavy on my 13 (going on 14) year old system's resources even with my 12 GB Titan-X..

    Check "Messages".

Ah, okay. I don't have the original Cloudscape product, so it makes sense that I'm not seeing that offer.

And the Koa/Kai banner is simply a link to the relevant daily sale page. Spam, essentially, and not a proper orange banner. :P

There are always a lot of complaints about pricing here but I remember when I first joined ages ago, there were nowhere near as many sales with such discounts as they have now. One of the first items I got (that was a Christmas gift from my parents lol) was Millenium Girls which, if I remember correctly, was well over $20 and never on sale. I can't seem to find it in the store anymore--maybe it's gone now? Anyhow, I remember my first March Madness when Daz uploaded new items in the morning rather than night (and never on time lol) when everyone on the forums got excited over the release of two or three new Daz Originals priced under $4.00 and everyone was thrilled.  Now we can get items from $1.99-3.99 often and if one is really good at shopping here you can usually get new-ish PA items at over 85% off if you mix the right combination with tokens. Yeah, I'm not happy about the changes to Daz+ and not sure what I'm going to do when mine expires in April but for the last several years the prices (if you play the shopping cart game well enough) are much lower than in the supposed "good old days." I've been mad at Daz for various reasons throughout the years but the prices really can be great if you know to juggle things correctly.

I remember when Victoria was released back in 1999 you got the model and a base texture for around $90.00. Then on 1/12/01 the update came out for $59.95 once more just model and updated textures that rquired the first set, no genitals, no poses, and no morphs

Yeah, kind of a mixed blessing. I had a couple big cart days last summer where I kind of had to talk myself down from a "what if my spending continues like this??" panic... and then last month I didn't even spend $20. So... disappointing because I didn't get that little thrill of a new toy, but on the other hand, I do have a lot of new toys I haven't played with yet. And it gave me a chance to FINALLY get caught up with cataloging all the assets I got in the big spending days... it's awesome to have those environment sets that come with a million props, but man that takes a while to get pictures of them all listed in their correct files.

I spent my free time yesterday playing dollhouse kitbashing a rec room for my characters, though, and had a great amount of fun doing it, no extra spending required. Now I get to render stuff there. Maybe the actual Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales will lure me back.... but if not, I'll just go back to playing with my dolls and wait for another sale.

@SilverGirl I completely agree! smiley Must play with the toys we already have!

Well, for those who not so long ago argued that "no, Daz+ didn't become second class offer and Premier is just another tier," here's the first proof that you were wrong: in today's flash sale, Premier members get an extra discount. Daz+ just pay what non-members pay (yes, I checked in the cart, Daz+ members do not get the discount, so it's not only a visual/banner thing).

Being a Daz+ member definitely feels like second class now. Or even third, considering we get the same offer as non-members while Premium members get a special.

    angry I share the feeling.

Being a Daz+ member definitely feels like second class now. Or even third, considering we get the same offer as non-members while Premium members get a special.  => I want my money back.

As far as premier membership special price, the offer still stinks because the selection is aweful for the price point. And as I have said before. I don't think there is a point in daz+ (monthly) vs premier. For $9 more, premier is so much more worth it. I think the choice is between do I want premier this month, and if not then swap back to basic.

But you'll be jumping and back and forth from Daz Studio Premier to Daz Studio Free? I don't think it's worth it... For me, Premier pays itself. Only for the the coupons, you 2x$10 plus the bundle Coupon. Tokens become something you probably won't have to worry about anymore in your life... And there's the Daz Studio Premier. But... Everyone knows what's best for themselves...

So my comparison wad between the difference of monthly daz+ and premier. It's $9 and the benefit of free stuff and additional discounts well makes up for the extra $9. I got the lycan character bundle with October's free bundle coupon, then on Monday this week I used my $10 DO coupon to get the buyin hair item and the lycan 9 bundle add on for free. But, if you are not going to pay for premier, then to me it seems you might as well drop to basic and bump back up to premier when it makes sense for you. I will be keeping premier active through January at the least at which point I will then wait and see. If I won't be using daz much for the month cause of other stuff going on, then the extras of studio premier won't matter. Also, I pretty much own all of the similar functions that the new version includes. Best i can tell, the only thing that is truly new is geometry sculptor aka mesh grabber 4 which is VERY nice. It let's me do some of the stuff I would have had to export to blender to tweak before moving back in. Much nicer to have that higher level of control in daz studio premier, BUT if I will be mostly working with other stuff during the month, and not using the tool, then I might be fine delaying the subscription for a while. Atleast until I will be doing stuff that would benefit from it or sales would facilitate the premier upgrade for the month.

Yeah. I use Daz almost every day and I loved the geometry sculptor function. It's really a game changer (though I also have mesh grabber). I hope they improve it to the point I don't have to go to Blender or Hexagon to do anything else. But, if you have your hiatus from Daz from time to time, it makes sense jump back and forth from basic to premier. As long as I can afford it, I'll stick to Premiere (and there are other things to let go before, like Adobe CC Suite...). But I think if one is a regular customer, like, spend at least a hundred bucks each month, it's worthwhile.

It was a bad sale for everyone, including the non-members, because of the products offered, yes. But Premier members got a discount while Daz+ didn't, so it wasn't the same offer. And what was being offered has nothing to do with it.

My point was that, for any experienced buyer, the offer was meaningless, so it doesn't matter if you are Premier, Plus, or Basic. And...

Not exactly the same: as with any of the similar promotions requiring buying a $1 or more new release, a Daz+ member can buy a new Daz+ item at Daz+ price.

So can a Premier member, but they also got an extra discount. Which lends to the point raised back in October of Daz+ now being second class membership which some people try to argue wasn't true.

... Of course, it's a second-class membership! It's the second tier! If Plus had the same advantages as Premier, it wouldn't make any sense for anyone to be Premier -- and if it happens one day, I'll cancel my Premier membership and jump back to Plus! I thought that should be obvious...

If you missed that part, when Premier was introduced, some people argued that Daz+ wasn't "second class" but just "different tier for people with different needs" (if I recall the wording correctly). It's not about that Daz+ should have the same perks as Premier which you're implying. It's about Daz+ not getting special discounts anymore (which happened in the quoted sale and will likely happen again) which is devaluing the membership (with a message "you're either Premier or you don't matter"). Yes, it's obious and understandable that Daz+ doesn't get as deep discounts as Premier (see token gaining or DO discount). But when the sale says, "offer X, but get extra Y when you're Premier" not mentioning Daz+ at all, that's a different matter, and that was what I was referring to, not some "oh, Daz+ and Premier are not the same".

  • TorquinoxTorquinox Posts: 3,332

So, this is what I think should have happened: As a show of good faith, caring, etc, existing Daz+ customers should have got an upgrade to Premier for the duration of their current Daz+ subscription. After that, it's after that. That would have been the thing to do, IMO. Reward the people who bought in not knowing the buy-in was about to become a lot less valuable. Reward the people who have supported Daz, many for a long time. That would have smoothed over all the angry feelings about this situation, and I suspect many people who benefitted would have spent a lot of money in celebration. Could be wrong, but that's what I think.

  • Jeez, those last sales made me forget how expensive those products are nowadays especially since tokens are no longer offering that much discount for PA items. Just deleted a cart with some items. Promos plus usage of 8 tokens brought items to 51-66% but cart was > 70$ for just a few things. Too much for me.

don't know for sure, but it appears the prices went up even more just recently. Most are beyond my budget anymore. Yeah, tokens make a difference when you buy DO items. I've purchased more DO in the last month than I have in years. 90% off at least on most. Now its whoa, not happening.

I have mostly stopped buying stuff that is not DO for the simple reason that it is so much more economical to stick with DO. The exception is if there is a fabulous sale on some PA item or tool like the $1 door busters recently. Some of the best characters are DO anyway. I do really like stuff from MSO, blue jaunt, cynderblue, and a few others, and their prices are cheaper by default, but with DO sales and tokens i can often have the main characters for cheaper. The major exception for me are the creature artists like Joe Quick, Oso, and Rawart, but I can wait for fenominal sales on those a few times through the year. I also tend to buy the items that end up being DO from them or released as a special discount like a buck or 2. I already have so much stuff. I built a large gen 8 collection, then upgraded to gen 9. Between the 2 i dont really need much of anything new, so when I buy its more of an "oh look at that shiny new version of something I already have." I unfortunately spend more time looking for deals on things to play with then on playing with the things I already have. I need a new hard-drive for Daz stuff I already have more than more new daz stuff... but I want the new daz stuff. Lol Anyways I think artists do much better when the prices are low because I will pretty much only ever buy when the prices are really low, because otherwise I have no legitimate excuse to justify buying something at the high price that I don't really need. In any case I often wonder about which artists make out better, the PAs that don't sell their stuff as DO at high prices most of the time, or the ones who sell their stuff cheap as DO and probably at a much higher rate.

    ^^^1000% this.

At the very, VERY least there should be a way to upgrade from D+ to Premier by paying the difference, on a monthly basis, and go back to (already paid for) D+ for the months one chooses not to upgrade. None of this "hey you took advantage of the good sale we offered, so here's some Cheerios if you want to trade, it's a great deal really" nonsense.

I realize some folk here are beating the Premier drum loud and proud, saying it's a great deal based on all sorts of factors... that don't apply to me. It would be nice if folk in my situation weren't left in the dust now that the new baby is here.

It's clear as day that Daz+ has lost much appeal. There's a new example today of this. Once again, we Daz+ subscribers are treated as basic members and only Premier members get a distinct treatment. Have a look at the Stealz sale. I don't know if I'll become Premier after my Daz+ sub expires in one year. But unless Daz can make the Daz+ tier more appealing, I won't renew Daz+ most likely.

But that's another matter. Personally, I haven't even bothered to check the items included in that section (today's sales haven't drawn my interest). The point still stands, though, that Daz+ has lost value.

Yes, confirming my token expiry dates are now different - reflecting the two carts I bought recently - and are much later in the month, with dates that look about right. The count of tokens remained correct.
