I thought when you became an old fart, your chances to win the Lotto are supposed to improve.

It did for me.  Won about $850 when I was 65.  Whee....  but not since.    I keep trying though but I never buy more than one ticket at a time, any more is a waste of money.  Any less is guarantee of failure.  My philosophy is "It only takes one ticket... over and over and over and over and over....."

...thanks.  Another draw tonight now 3.6$ million which on the annuity option (which I would take as I have no "investor" savvy) would be about 96,000$ after taxes per year.

Besides, unless I can strap a couple of hellfire missiles to them, what's the point?... I guess I could annoy squirrels with them, but that's what the missiles would be for in the first place. The hover boards are a hoot too, someone we know got one two months ago and the battery severely overheated, so they returned it and got a new one... Now I'm seeing news warning about many of them bursting into flames and even exploding... Which is cool if you intend for it work that way, but not you just want to rides around on it like a slightly more coordinated Paul Blart- Mall Cop.  Megh... I'm probably getting coal for Christmas anyway.

There are already privacy concerns connected to drones, and safety concerns.  There is a new FAA law about to go into effect because people, mostly innocently, keep flying them too high and they pose a risk to airliners.  Lets fac it, if a bird can cause damage to a jet enjine, what can one of these hard plastic and metal things going to do?  So, they'll be regulated to keeping below a certain altitude.

As for "hoverboards"...who the hell named them?  They don't hover, they roll on the ground.  They have wheels.  That's like calling a Mustang a flying car.  They both may become airborn, accidentally, but neither is intended for that use.

I flew a '77 Mustang about twenty feet... I thought that counted... The owners manual said nothing about not flying it... That left it open for interpretation.

    Nope.

Well, that depends on how much energy you want to invest in taking HDR images.  A cheap camera would make it very difficult, but a moderate priced quality manufacturer camera with manual settings and a good tripod will work.  I've used an old tiny 3.2Megapixel Nikon Coolpix 995 and a good steady tripod to take some damn nice HDR images.  You just have to take 3 or 5 images of the exact same scene without moving the camera but use different shutter speeds.  (not different aperture settings because larger apertures decrease depth of field causing some of the images to be blurrier than others) Then using Photoshop or other software capable of merging the separately exposed images turn them into an HDRI.

Attached is an image I took inside a tropical setting with deep shadows and bright sunspots.

No, quality equipment isn't cheap but it doesn't have to exorbitant unless you want the camera to do the whole HDRI thing in one snap of the shutter.  THAT is expensive!!!!!

Well, true... I was just generalizing... There is often some overlooked or short lived device that gets forgotten because it isn't "the best of the best with bells on it"... And I've had a couple of cameras like that, very reasonably priced, but not well known either... I think I've become very fed up with digital cameras... Most are overpriced and I don't see why all the SLRs have to be soooo expensive... There are no good cheap ones... Sorry, that was not the point...

Actually what I meant to say was, yeah I agree and FYI... Both iPhone and Galaxy have an HDR mode... Not the best, but they have them.

Yeah.. while the job was interesting and challenging, the commute was long and expensive and most of the companies focus was on the user-facing side of things, making me wonder why they wanted a full-time firmware engineer.  I could have finished everything in about another 4-6 weeks, then boredom would become a far more serious issue.  Plus, nobody understands what I'm doing so I feel unappreciated, which blows. indecision
