My computer thinks it has malware so I am trying to run Malwarebytes but searched for Maleficent instead by mistake.

update: eight screws and ten minutes copying iz not so bad to drop in a new one

    hot swap

Is in a fancy enclosure wired for thunderbolt so bad luck, had to take it to bits but lucky it was the topmost drive so didn't take long. Broke drive would have had only about three months use (?)  I guess, from experience with HDDs  if they are gonna go they do mostly go early :)

complaint: I forgot how to setup lights for Iray in Daz Studio.  I think I use a sundial or something.  I should watch SickleYield's tutorial at

I also found a tutorial by Indigo Janson

Blue is an orangey-cast killer, easy to see if you pull the red and green on the lightsource back by say 20%. I dunno I like to bake ambient into textures it seems more realistic somehow, mileage varies I guess :)

sometimes just putting a little mid to dark grey on a colour channel is enough to float a background over the line, is like turning down the volume compared to (say) a foreground :)

...for outdoor scenes I usually rely on the Sun Dial Set (which is found in Library/Render Presets/Iray/...) which allows you to manually position the sun which is a lot simpler to use compared to dealing with all the Latitude-Longitude-Time settings.

Monday, oh Monday, how do I hate thee?

Complaint: the investors in our company have decided to stop funding us, so as of next Monday I'm unemployed again. indecision  Right before Christmas, too.  Sucks.

Non-complaint is that I'll get paid for 40 hours this week, which with what is coming in tomorrow will last me into mid-January or later. smiley

I'll start my job search next Monday, but it's the holiday season and I don't expect a lot until next month.

In the meantime, I'll be working on my music and art, so expect more forum posts and maybe even a render or two (lol)!  I'm considering this as a two week vacation, as hectic as things here were it fels like I've been here a year.. I'll take the break.

I knew this could happen, the headhunter was straight up with me and told me they got funded every 3 months.. my luck just ran out this time.  But I have great references and killer experience for my resume', so it's all good! laugh

Good thing I bought all that cooking gear, it's home cooking for the forseeable future...

Yep! I love to cook, too!

My A1 Tabasco chicken wings can out killer good, hot but not too hot, the wings were HUGE, 3 wings and I was stuffed!  And I have one bowl of beef stew left, and my fridge is full of ingredients.

It could be a LOT worse...  indecision

...ouch.  Hang in there. At least you are not here in overpriced Portland where even a shoebox studio can run over 1,200$ a month or a room in a shared house, 500$+.

...been getting more "Not Responding" errors when running 4.8 along with an increase in "white screens" where the entire viewport turns glaringly white for a minute or two while loading a scene, saving a scene, or sometimes even just changing an element within a scene.

While lading the railway station scene to perform a few minor adjustments an error message popped up about video drivers.  I haven't made any changes to Daz since originally installing 4.8, so not sure why it would suddenly stary having an issue with the drivers.
