Is it possible for aniblocks designed for Genesis 8-8.1 to work on Genesis 9? I understand that there is facial differences but what about the body? Cheers

Not directly, because the bones are different. You would need to bake to the Timeline on Genesis 8, use a pose converter to turn the Genesis 8 pose into a Genesis 9 pose, then turn that into an AniBlick (which requires the full version of AniMate 2).
Wait Richard! I do apologize, but that's no longer true!
Edited with the correct link: Bone Minion Bundle can allow us to just use whatever from whomever without having to do... well... anything at all! Aside from applying the Bone Minion to the character ;)
The only thing is that we have to use the correct Bone Minion.
The body rig of G9 is completely different from G8x.
The problem is that I have a big investment in Genesis 8 8.1 with animations. Things like Genesis 8 alive and other animations I have purchased. If DAZ is going to keep adding new figures I feel they should be backward compatible! There are not enough animations for Genesis 9! Cheers
I'm sorry, I put the wrong link up earlier.
Seriously! You can use All of those animations Directly on Any of your Genesis 9 figures - trust me, for what you want to do the cost - as you'll soon agree - is Nothing compared to it's worth.
But you don't need the whole bundle, just the Genesis 8/8.1 Pose for Genesis 9 Bone Minion - and it's on sale as we speak!!!
Riversoft Art's video pretty much covers pose transfer. It works for animations just as easily as turning it on and hitting the Play button in the timeline.
Here's my full workflow - Instead of like Riversoft Art says (no need to convert and save) I use Bone Minion to transfer, create new aniBlocks and save them.
The tutorial video is a Generation 4 Poses video. He only made one because they All Work the Same - and I can Verify that!!! I bought the Genesis 3 Poses to Genesis 9 first, and was so pleased with how well it worked, I started buying the Bundles I needed because my animations are all older Generation 4, Genesis 1 through 3 and a few 8. Well... my collection for Genesis 8 has really grown now, since that's what I'm using.
Here's the tutorial. Imagine that the generation 4 figures are your Genesis 8/8.1 and what he's transferring to are Genesis 9. It works the same way, and his system translates all the skeletal rigging differences nicely.
FYI - the Facial animations might not transfer, but it's worth trying.
For that, use what's called the Heavyweight Bone Minion (included) as it looks deeper than the standard body motions. The reason it's separated is that it uses more resources to work (hence the name) so we're not always bogged down like that when simply transferring sitting down and playing cards, as an example.
EDIT: I also edited my original post above to reflect the correct bundle in case you have other animations from other generations.
Also to Note:
I use Mixamo and I have instruction for how I do that Right Here, which requires that I use Genesis 2 Female (or Male). Wolf has a solution, I think, that can omit the use of using the earlier generation, so you may want to consider that instead, but I've been getting excellent with my method so decided to share the workflow. For that you'd also need the Genesis 2 Pose Bone Minion for Genesis 9.
I have Bone Minion for all Genesis and Generation 4 figures. It says nothing about animations! Cheers
Perhaps not, but It Really Works!!! Check those workflow links - I've put a lot of time into getting that flow down - it help alleviate problems.
Cheers to you! :)
I wish I knew where Wolf359's threads are on this stuff - I'd link to them. He has other ways of getting Genesis 9 to come alive

There are a few thousand FREE animations over at Mixamo.com
Use Diffeo with Blender. Import the character into Blender with the regular Daz rig, don't change anything. You don't even need the hair or clothes, just a base G8 or G9 will do. Then save the animation from G8 as a pose in Daz. Apply that pose to the Daz skeleton in Blender and for the most part it should transfer perfectly fine. Sometimes legs get wonky at times, but you can go into the graph editor and quickly tweak those spots. Then Save that as an Action in the Blender pose tab, and you can apply that pose to your G9 in Daz. I've done it and it works. Facial stuff doesn't transfer if I recall correctly though.
I looked and watched Mixamo's videos. It says you have to prepare Genesis 9 figures before uploading. What does this entail? Cheers
That's what Wolf is offering just a couple posts up
...and I was offering a different solution here
The actual answer to that question is not an easy one. Mixamo doesn't even like Genesis 3, 8, or 8.1 rigs.
The solution I mention uses a Genesis 2 figure. Once completed and the animations are in Studio Pose format, I use Bone Minion.
Blender with Diffeo is free.
have you tried the method suggested by BennieWoodelle?
The Mixamo Retarget rig for G9 is $18
and you can cherry pick from the thousands of
FREE Mixamo motions at your personal convenience
and convert them to aniblocks for cutting & remixing inside Daz studio as described by @Dartanbeck.
Many of the commercial Motion packs for G8-9 are RECYCLED MIXAMO animations ,
I know this because I have this offline archive of the entire Mixamo library to compare to what I see being sold in the marketplaces
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G86S76VvvJMHTyAsQU8mzLt8QwtnH9st/view?usp=sharing
And I have Autodesk Maya and Reallusion Iclone that easily retargets Mixamo to G8-9 and exports to BVH
via melscript.
Thye Mixamo G9 retarget RIG IS $18 US. That for me here in Australia is almost double the price depending on the exchange rate for the day! Cheers
I don't even understand the basics of what animations will work wiith what software...still lost. I see this aniMate move set aniMate Hip Hop Moves 1 - that I think would be fun to mess with, then I read this: Compatible Software: Poser, Daz to Blender Bridge, Daz to Unreal Bridge . Daz Studio won't work with it? What about Carrara if I got the animate importer? If I got the aniMate2 plugin would it would with Daz Studio then? I'm going back to the minor leagues lol. Is there a thread that explains compatibility with all the available softwares sold by Daz? I'm not ready to try bridging to Blender yet lol. I see Poser all the time under the Carrara section in the shop. Is Daz Studio the new Poser? Sorry again for all the stupid questions
Yeah, that seems confusing to many folks. That stuff is Made fro Daz Studio, so the Compatible software is for "Other" compatible software.
In the above webinar I'll be showing examples of how to Really have fun with these aniBlock packs. I've been collecting them since before Genesis 1, so using Bone Minion I'll also demonstrate how I use my entire collection on any generation of Daz figure from V4 and M4 to current.
Also, I use the paid version of aniMate 2 - always have. So I'm not entirely familiar with what can and cannot be done using the free version that comes with Studio. But I must say, I bought it when it wasn't even on sale and it paid for itself immediately. I love it!!!
Here's the thread I made that spawned the webinar.
aniMate 2 - Real aniMating Power for Daz Studio!
Also, none of those are stupid questions!
Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. I have soooo much to learn lol. But, it seems like it's going to fun, or at least interesting. Back to the basics...Later.

It's Sooooo Fun!!!
If you need to stay with free solutions
Daz studio has animation tools
including the free aniMate 2 (with export limitations) and FREE exporters to the FREE blender software for more advance animation tools.
There are more and more animations for G9 appearing in the marketplace and none of them are FREE.
There are several G9 animations in the Daz store that are $18.99 (nearly $29 AUD),for a single walk cycle.
You can pay $27 USD(40 AUD) for bone minion and try to convert your existing G8 animations to G9 as @Dartanbeck suggested.
So you do have options for animating G9 But none of them are FREE except Blender>Diffeo save animated pose back to Daz studi as suggested by @benniewoodelle ...so if you want to animate G9... pick your poison
Absolutely!
The bright side of investing in Daz Studio tools is that, while collecting the tools might not be free, they do have some of the best prices - especially when on sale, and they are perpetual instead of having to pay a yearly or monthly subscription fee. I can't afford all of that so I've found the whole Daz 3d route a real bargain - even though I'm constantly buying something! ;)
I don't mean to Spam, but I do want to illustrate a point that I really Love about my method, when it comes to Mixamo.
But first, if I could use Genesis 9 for my main Rosie character in my animation work without crashing Daz Studio during certain processes, I would take Wolf's route hands-down and just use it. Then I'd still have my method to fall back on for other figures. Which brings up my point regarding 'my method':
Since I'm using Genesis 2 exported to FBX to get my Mixamo animations, and I have purchased the bundle of Bone Minions for Genesis 2 poses, I can download my Mixamo animations once, store them to my library once, and use Bone Minion to animate Any figure from M4/V4 families through Genesis 8.1. Adding the Genesis 2 Poses for Genesis 9 Bone Minion - all of my Genesis 2 Mixamo animations work on All of my figures!
Predatron's LoRez people usually work beautifully with Genesis 2 poses with a little adjustment, and Predatron includes some handy dials to assist with that.
I have a fairly vast collection of Generation 4 products that still look and work great - so I use them. Throughout the years as Genesis evolved I've been collecting all along the way. So when I'm working on an animation and need someone to run the cash register, for example, I can go through all of my generations to pick one out - knowing that I can use Any of my animations on whom ever I pick.
So I feel like I've happened upon a truly magical workflow - especially knowing how easy it is to make my own custom control dials for further adjustments.
Having said all of that, when I dod get Genesis 9 working... I'm buying Wolf's solution as well. Flexibility of options has always been and always will be an animator's best friend!
Also, Most of the animation packs I've bought from Daz 3d are Not something I could easily find at Mixamo. GoFigure, Reisormocap do their own motion capturing and have unique offerings that I love.
I have purchased and installed Mixamo Retarget Rig for Genesis 9. The only problem is when I add an animation the feet and toes are all wrong! It is a big job to go through frame by frame to fix this issue! Cheers
