The Daughter, The Mother and The Crone. I think I'll have use for this figure.
I have to say again that the character looks much better here than on the promo pics. Thank you!
Has anyone noticed that the previous version of Olympia discount doesn't work? I have the starter package for Olympia 9 in my cart along with Olympia 7 and I should see Olympia 7 for $5, but she,s $22, 50% off.
It is working for me (though it is $8, not $5), exactly what is in yoru cart?
That $8 is for the starter bundle, there is an option to buy the individual character for $5 and that doesn't work.
Liking this one a lot (although the expressions are... sigh... typical "improved" G9, just subtle ones look fine to me), the bundle's not bad either and the deal was good enough.
Have every version since 6. It's as near an auto-purchase as I can make.
Oh, I see what you want - but I don't think that works. The base character gets the $5 older bases, the Starter gets the $8 older starters and so on - you cannot mix-and-match, to get the discounted bases with the starter bundle.
Here's my side-by-side comparison...out of the box versus a couple different quick shader tweaks. Click for larger size!
No it doesn't work, that is what I am saying. According to the posting, I should be getting the stand alone Olympia 7 for $5, but when I put it in my cart along with the prerequisit purchase of Olympia 9, I am getting a 50% marker with a price of $22.50. So clearly it is not what it is marked for. The starter bundle for Olympia 7 does work at $8, but not the individual character. I tried it again with the individual character and it is still broken. I am surprised that has gone on like that the whole day without anyone fixing it.
Here I copied this from the sale page. I bold and italicised the part that says...
Previous Generations of Olympia
$5 each* when you buy Olympia 9 HD
Does work
The day when Olympia 9 was released, the alternative shapes were available as a separate product. I was hesitating too long, and on the next day, they were pro bundle exclusive.
I'm interested in the alternative shapes, but won't pay the additional money for the pro bundle with lot's of items I don't need.
In the end, DAZ is selling some items just to customers with deeper wallets. What about "support the artists"?
This pricing policy is neither good for the artists which created the items (as the items are sold in a bundle for a lots smaller price), nor for the hobby artists, which just want to pay for the stuff they need.
@MelissaGT I really like 'Tweaked 2' that slight olive tint is dead on for a Greek lady I worked with in Athens. May I ask what were your settings?
Mary
Here is what I did -
My best suggestion is to start here and then tweak around with them to see what changes what...not all skins are the same, but above is what I start with.
Here is another example with changing only one setting from the above...the SSS Color. I changed Val from 254 to 253 (click for bigger size!)
I admit that Olympia is, for me, the strongest temptation to start using G9 to date... she's got the gravity of a queen. But I guess she is no longer the "Queen of the Curves"? And the link to the Alternative Shapes is broken? And who is the male model for "FE Arkadiusz Hair for Genesis 9"?
it's Michael 9
Oh, wow. Thank you.
See this thread.
Note that I'm not saying that bundle exclusives are a good thing. I'm only explaining what happened.
Personaly I would find the young version of Olympia more usefull and its a shame that the shapes and Olympia cant be bought on thier own buying a probundle for one or two items is just not feasible for me. just saying.
Looks like I was lucky to purchase the extra shapes in this small time window without even realizing they weren't supposed to be available for separate purchase. Because I did not buy the bundle.
Oh well, I paid money for Olympia 9 Alternate Shapes, I'm not giving them back. Miiiine.
It's a stupid idea to make them available only via the bundle, anyway.
Aside from Genghis - which I bought dirt cheap for the armor - this is the first time I've purchased a non-toon core G9 that wasn't associated with G8 deals (which made them practically free). The more curvy figure seems to compensate for G9's huge arms and shoulders, and she doesn't look male-ish or weirdly proportioned in her promos. I haven't been able to download (anything) recently because RL has offered some challenges that required my attention, but I think she'll be useful. Her build strikes me as somewhere between the athletic looks of Rune 7 and Ophelia 7 and the curvy appeal of Olympia 7 and 8.
The pegasus content helped the purchase, too - I'm an easy mark for most of the horse stuff.
For those who don't have tokens and didn't want the 2 texture packs, today's coupon makes the deal look similar to Day One..
Olympia 9 lacks Rune 7 magically implanted silicone chest reinforcements.
Although I'm not sure if that's a bad thing.
Ophelia 7 looks better than both of them anyway.
But that's because Xena is cooler than Wonder Woman.
Bought Olympia 9 and do not regret getting back on the G9 train. Apparently, some of the joint issues I have been experiencing are because some character's adjustment morphs are being triggered even when that character is not being used. Not sure about the details, but read it in another thread. Hopefully, those characters will be identified and updates will be in DIM. Here is Olympia 9 at about 60% mixed with a variety of others. Sorry for the low key lighting but was going for a night scene and missed a little. Got the apple but not her face. Eris and the Apple of Discord, for you mythology fans.
Honestly, those arm bends are very nice. Even with the third-party bend morphs available on G8/8.1 and G3, arm bends continue to be problematic. But those are nice.
I'm not sure that Olympia was ever the "queen of curves"...that was Lilith 7...who never got an 8 iteration.
Either way, Olympia 9 is very similar in shape to Olympia 7. Here is a side-by-side comparison between Olympia 9 (center), Olympia 7 (left), and Olympia 8 (right). (Click for larger size!) Olympia 9 is right there with Olympia 7. Olympia 8 is definitely my least favorite. Her body shape is fine, but her face is very blank and her skin was never good.
Not too long ago, anatomical elements were only sold as part of pro bundles.
Well this might be a shocker for some people LOL but anatomical elements are of no use to me at all but the extra shapes for Olympia have good use cases
Alternate shapes for various core characters often were released along the new core figure, but not as an exclusive bundle deal.
Edit: Olympia 8 is so unremarkable amongst those three the only use I ever had for this figure was as a base required for Olympia 7 for Olympia 8 product.
