I put it in my wish list but didn't buy. I'd rather have animals from more temperate climates or tropical ones. The landscape is limited where you can use the polar bear since they're found pretty much where there is ONLY snow and ice and no significant vegitation. A grizzly, brown or black bear would have been much more useful.

I've had a idea: Lost, combine the polar bear and the forthcoming desert landscapes for Ultrascenery. I hail from the United Kingdom so I have a very British sense of humour.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

It looks good, but it's weird that none of the promos show open mouth, teeth, tongue, etc. Listed pose controls include "Mouth Open".

Ive noticed quite a few promos have gotten where they don't show as much as they should.  But the bear does have a Mouth Open and the tongue has bones.

    Quick render.

Has anyone rendered the polar bear in HQ version? If so, have you experienced issues such as not able to render, or a boged down PC that becomes unsuable once you hit render? I tried rendering the HQ version but I get "error during rendering!" a minute or two after I hit render. I tried using "memory" setting for optimization with no success. I did render the SQ version even though both versions bogs down my PC to an unusable state. I suspect it may be an nVidia driver issue and not a video card issue since I have a beefy card with 25 gigs of memory on it and never had issues render anything HQ before. Also, the bear does not load in LAMH if I try to edit the fur.

I laughed that after buying the Polar Bear by AM on 26 Mar 2023 for $2.44, here came an updated one Polar Bear 2 on 1 Apr 2023, but it only cost me $9.44. Not an issue, I figured the old one could be used in the backgrounds and I could always have Zoo scenes somehow, or a fantasy world where the animals can mix it up.

Thank you @Daventaki and @Fishtales for showing both Polar Bears in renders from this year. Great work.

    Mary

Thanks for posting, @Daventaki - the teeth do look fantastic! Also, the fur is some of the best I've seen. While it's fairly uniform, at the same time there's enough random variation/clumping to make it look natural and not so much like a stuffed animal.

I like how you think - outside the box.

I just want a black bear. But I bought this, because polar bears are good, too.

I too got the newest polar bear but also wish for a 3D black bear.  Hopefully we will get a black bear before a pizzly comes out.

That polar bear does look amazing! I'm all for more zoological variety in any form, and I'd assume the specific morphology of black bears is technically unique, but you should be able to adjust the white fur of the polar bear in the surfaces tab. A specific species is always ideal, but it is an option if you wish it.

If it's of any interest to see examples of though, I recently got the adorable weasel by AM and ran a few render tests.

    (1) default (2) body / root and tip / transmission root (3) previous + transmission tip / highlight root and tip

The brown version didn't shift as well. I'd assume that the bears have similar hair settings.

EDIT: spelling / removed a lot of rambling and redundant renders
