Polare bear is really nice!
Comments
We have a couple of foxes, now we just need a mint.
Fascinating Polar Bear fact: it's widely regarded as the most dangerous predator in the animal kingdom, even more dangerous than the Tiger (number 2 on the list) and the Lion (Number 3).
Cheers,
Alex.
P.S. What we realy, realy, realy need is a Red Panda, one of the least dangerous predators in the animal kingdom (unless you're a nice ripe young bamboo shoot, in which case it's horribly violent death on four paws).
Red Pandas The red panda is known as the "first panda" because it was so named nearly 50 years before the giant panda.
Maybe polar bears and foxes have bad breath?
No, Richard definitely means MINT - it's from the Foxes Glacier Mints adverts in the 1970s or 1980s in UK.
The bear was shown on the mints, but the fox always thought ti should be there from the name - I can't find anywhere near as many as I recall, or any of the ones I recall, so this is a bit in media res
WOW that bear looks good, in particular the fur. The realism of Daz animals has come a long way from the days when we had to fake hair/fur/feathers with displacement/normal maps.
I have tokens to use by end-of-day tomorrow and might buy this polar bear.
I bought the bear. With the tokens it was too good not to.
It wasn't a typo? Wow,
Despite Richard's posting history, I assumed he was just making a joke I didn't get.
It's $9.44 (73%) with tokens which is a good deal. But will the price be as good tomorrow? I just want some other things to add with the polar bear purchase but nothing else worth getting.
I assumed he was just typing fast, to move on to help the next person. I had no idea what mints had to do with foxes or polar bears.
$8.50 with all the discounts, (2 Newly mad, 2 Mad Related plus 8 tokens)
I've been wanting to visit Churchill, Ontario to see some polar bears, from a safe distance.
I've been happy to discover that red foxes, minks, weasels, elk, black bears, and otters have have repopulated the area I live in again after disappearing for over a century. I have yet to get any good photos though as they can be very elusive in behaviour. Turkeys and white-tailed deer have too, as well as multiple species of birds, but those repopulations were mostly complete by the end of the 1990s.
Confused here, why is everyone acting as if we didn't have a polar bear before? Cause we do, even by the same artist: https://www.daz3d.com/polar-bear-by-am. Yeah the new one looks nice and is with dForce, but seriously, I'd much, MUCH rather get the more common animals that we don't have yet in realistic quality - like the long-promised hare / rabbit.
Edit: Please don't point me to the versions by Hypertaf and Deepsea. These are very cute, and I've got them both, but they're not realistic in the least, not meant to be either I believe.
Ive noticed quite a few promos have gotten where they don't show as much as they should. But the bear does have a Mouth Open and the tongue has bones.
Quick render.
Very good. So much sales info at times I miss a lot of that.
Polar bears are so dang photogenic, and I had leftover tokens and bonus discounts from the horse stuff, so... Yep: Carted and purchased.
There's a giant gaping difference between the original polar bear model (by AM) and this one. The original one was nice for 3DL, small-sized renders, and/or distant shots. It's age would stand out like a pink elephant if put in a portrait next to a G8 or G9 character. This one holds up to Iray and close-ups.
I have bought the new polar bear . It is excellent! Hope to have a grizzly like this

I just want a black bear. But I bought this, because polar bears are good, too.
You know, I actually don't think the bear's aged that badly. I saw renders with him (it?) in the gallery not long ago - can't remember the artist name unfortunately, but they were amazing, with the bear and the weasel and a fantasy-hunter type girl. I think they were meant for a series of illustrations to a story. The bear held up very well I thought, even so close to the (very new) weasel and the G8 figure used. But of course they weren't meant to be photoreal renders.
I put it in my wish list but didn't buy. I'd rather have animals from more temperate climates or tropical ones. The landscape is limited where you can use the polar bear since they're found pretty much where there is ONLY snow and ice and no significant vegitation. A grizzly, brown or black bear would have been much more useful.
I had the same reaction. It looks nice and I wishlisted it, but I couldn't imagine when I would make a scene that used it. There is a furry brown bear in the store already. https://www.daz3d.com/brown-bear-by-am
I actually have the brown bear and I think I have dforce hair for it from somewhere. I think. LOL
