Yes, it can be rather costly to purchase something everyday just to keep a discount that you may, or may not use. One possibility is to look for a good sale price on something in your wishlist, or on the Holiday sale page. I was able to get an outfit I will use for $2.40 in the DAZ Originals section of the Holiday Sale yesterday, and there are even more options there today. But even at $2.00 a day, it can add up and might not be worth it after 10 days ($20.00+) if you don't get a good discount on one or more things you would buy anyway. It also won't work well if your on a monthly budget of $20.00 to $40.00, you may use up your entire budget just trying to keep the max discount and not be able to take advantage of the discount.
I almost always ignore the punch sales. I got hooked on this one hoping to get a better discount on some basic G9 needs. I couldn't quite afford .... or maybe more accurately I couldn't justify the cost of Josie 9, so the whole punch thing hasn't saved me as much as it could have. Unfortunately, I just don't have the ability to purchase a lot of stuff even at decent discounts, so I have to be pretty picky.about what I get. I just can't justify getting bundles where 50% of it I may never use. The same is true for the items I purchase to keep the punches going. If I won't use it, then maybe I'm better off using the $$$ I'd spend on punches to pay the no punch price on an item I really want. I go through a lot of "yes, I do like it, but will I ever really use it". If I probably won't use something, I typically won't get it.
I'm sure people who can spend more on DAZ stuff than I can are very happy with the sale, especially those that love playing shopping cart Jenga to get the best discount. I'm not complaining though. the Black Friday Weekend Punch sale worked out well for me
Well, for me the punch sale means spreading my purchases over several days instead of making one order. For example there are 3 DAZ+ itemsi want before the price increases next Wednsday; so Instead of buying them all on Tuesday I can get one today, one tomorrow and one Monday.
How can you tell when the price is going to increase?
In this case there is an introductory discount for 2 weeks and it expires Tuesday midnight DAZ time.
Thanks.
There does come a point when you have to decide if wasting $2 is worth it for the potential larger saving the next day when you my have to make the same decision again and again... and so on.
Doesn't quite sit right with me and it's also easy to exploit... not that i believe that's the prime motivation, but it may help to offload some lesser products.
I regret not purchasing more in the Black Friday weekend. I really can't afford all these punches. I just hope they maintain their 1st January sale...
What does the punch card actually work on? Yesterday I should have had two punches, but nothing in the store got an extra discount in the cart, so I dumped it. It's pointless to buy stuff to get 35% discount punch if it doesn't work on anything in the store.
It only works on the categories on the holiday sale page with the little punch card icon next to the category title (see below).
Oh, only new releases. I never purchase new releases unless there's a huge incentive (like 3 free bundles.) I guess I'll sit this one out. I spent way too much in the great Black Friday sale anyway, and it doesn't seem like this can compete. Has anyone figured out how to get 84% off like in that sale? What's the max off people are getting?
Its the Holiday Sales Page Items, This includes the Categories as well. Now if your desired item gets pulled from the category before your 35% is active ... well... tough nuggets I guess.
Not just new releases.. anything in the annual holiday sale with the little 'stamp' icon next to it.
I have decided that I do not like this roller coaster ride of punch sales. One day I had 3, next day back to that 1 only except whatever I put in the cart wasn't being discounted. They expect me to do this all over again?!!!
Update: and from 1 now we go to three!!! {wild guess that the punch gizmo isn't always displaying accurately, oh well}
And so I bought something, a really nifty idea came to me after I bought it on how to use it! Yes. And that remain a mystery 'cause it should be real funny if I can pull it off okay.
And in buying a new item, we got to choose a free item, thank you Daz3D.
'OK, I just got something for $2.50 in case the sales look better tomorrow (in 2 minutes) but I went on a bit of a spending spree when everything was 84%-90% off and I doubt this sale will be as good. I actually hope it isn't, I really don't want to be tempted lol.
...yeah I think I'm done for this year.
This is how I figure it:
Getting a head start on some new year resolutions too.
@barbult, I was thinking along those lines already, but thank you for the exact break down!
Since the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend we've actually had some sales that are pretty decent all by themselves (Holiday Grab Bag, DAZ+ Cathegory Sales if you are a member). I will take advantage of those and regard whatever Punch Card bonus comes on top of them as a bonus without paying too much attention to it.
I might get the Punch Card going again in the run up to XMas and then again New Year's Eve, in the hopes for some extra nice offers then. But otherwise I'll be pretty much ignoring the Punch Card.
So, is it still only holiday sale items that count to get a punch? If not and any $2+ item triggers, then mine still isn't working.
Since I decided early on it wasn't my kind of deal/promo/ game, I don't personally care. Just flagging to give Daz a clearer picture of how many users still need a fix.
I bought items on Wednesday, Thurday and Friday, but got engrossed in the football game last night and forgot to check out, and so missed yesterday. I went from 35% punch discount straight back to 10%. Not Nice!
Thank you, barbult
Now I don't feel left out. I don't like the punches system and your clarification makes me feel much better!
Is that your in cart discount or just what the graphic (which is notoriously bad) shows.
I believe you should be getting a 20% discount. Check your in cart price of a Holiday sale item and if it only has a 10% increase I would file a ticket
I thought it should have been 20% too. That's both the card graphic and in the cart...
Sounds like grounds for a ticket if a purchase would have gotten you 35% last night.
Punch Card:
To qualify for the punch card - the order must be $2 or more and can't be a gift card.
To use the punch card discount - items featured as part of the “2022 Holiday Sale.” Excludes Gift Cards, FastGrab items, Daz+ Memberships, and “Today Only” deals unless otherwise specified. Currently, on the sales page, we have a little punch card icon next to each of the sales where the coupon discount should apply.
This is about the Bachelor Bundle which I purchased a week ago. There was an error with the missing Montreal hairstyle which I see now has been corrected. How do I go about obtaining the hair which was missing in the bundle when I first purchased it? Thank you (I was away for a week and now cannot find the discussion thread on this subject).
Thank you!
So I didn't purchase anything over $2 yesterday, but today I'm receiving 30% Daz+ discount + 10% discount + 10% discount on the new release.
$19.95 - 30% = $13.97
$13.97- 10% = $12.58
$12.58 - 10% = $11.33 (it's showing 11.31 in my cart)
Ignore this, just saw the banner 10%.
Do purchases made with store credit from a gift card count as $0? I don't seem to be accumulating punches from them.
No. Buying a new Gift Card doesn't count, but spending store credit from a Gift Card does count.
I thought this should have happened automatically, if it hasn't you may need to open a support ticket - however, if others are also affected it may be a more general issue that I can send on to Daz.
