I am just happy I get to choose from items I really want! lol Just wish I had asked sooner. The first 5 days were a waste for me :( Not sure when this all ends... I'm hoping the 25th so I still have some time left to get some great items :)
btw... I picked the shader... can't go wrong with shaders. ;)
I would usually prefer to take both... It was only today that I found the decision difficult. The $2.99 item was originally much more expensive than the freebie, but I decided to go with this one because I can probably use it much more often.
Yeah... that's why I picked the shader. ;)
the BJ Camera Manager Plugin looks useful. https://www.daz3d.com/bj-camera-manager-plugin
Funny, in all my years working in DS and iray I have never used the Aux viewport, LOL
Thanks for pointing this procuct out. I"d totally skipped over it. It might save time, if only to set dof. I guess I'd have to use it BEFORE setting any Camera Magic.
I've never used the Aux viewport either.
first thing I did ehen they added the aux viewport was to find how to disable it
Just close the pane?
I'm in love with the Costume Set for Horse 3. https://www.daz3d.com/costume-set-for-horse-3
It should fit on the reindeer too.
Do you think the set will get in the way of their flying Christmas Eve???
How is that going to fit over their fur?
With some techy whatnot, it'll also go on the centaurs.
Not finished, but a test of that (along with the Willow dress):
So Matt any chance of making that "techy stuff" into a morph for the set?
That is a fine centaout outfit!
I didn't think of that. Shaved reindeer?
Not quite so simply, as it's more than just a morph and needs to be re-rigged for the centaur.
I'd have to use one of two "jumping through hoops" methods - either providing morphs that the user had to bake in, run through Transfer Utility and then save; or use RTEJava (a rather dated program that more or less uses the original asset as an encryption key to create a modified version that can only be unlocked by people who have the original).
However, if there's interest in that, I can probably oblige.
(I have spent a stupid amount of time on fitting things to centaurs that weren't meant to be fitted to centaurs - for example, Lyoness's recent Tinsley Outfit)
Well I'd be interested .....so if you did a morph and we ran it through transfer utility ,would that work? If it's too much of a hassel .....I understand not doing it .
I made my first purchase this month yesterday, and neither of the Advent Calandar items I was offered were from my wishlist. One was a Carrera item.
Well.. that didn't last long... The freebie item I was offered today is not showing up as free in my cart :( ... I guess I'll have to grab the 2.99 item before I loose it too (sighs)
Sometimes there's some discombobulation right at Daz-midnight. My freebie initially showed as not-free but is now when I view the cart.
Heads up: Today's daily deal Mercury coupe has an editorial license...
Thanks for the tip, Leana! It doesn't affect me as a pure hobbyist, and I wouldn't have bought the model anyway. I don't need another 1930s/1940s car...
When will we see actual, 'normal' cars, for contemporary street scenes? But they would probably be 'Cybertrucks' or something...
Thank you Leana, I went back to the sales page and stared at it and finally realized the license was there but in a way that it was lost in the other details. And on my old iMac, it taks so long for DAZ pages to load fully I had passed this point to look at the model's details. It is now out of my cart. This warning really needs to be in bold red.
Yes, I am a hobbiest, but I just don't need more cars and don't need another prop I have to remember to not accidentally use someday.
Cool car though. Reminds me of a 'rusty chariot' we had in the late 50's as a second car.
The XI Post Apocalyptic Camper Van is a hoot. Not only do they have working satellites, but they have easy enough access to ammunition to be able to feed several gattling guns. After a collapse of civilisation I'd expect satellites to be the first things to give up through lack of ground station staff and orbit maintenance, and ammunition would be very precious as there are a lot of industrial processes needed to make it, any scarcity in any process & the supply stops.
Does any one here know how to make cordite? Or the nitric and sulphuric acids needed for cordite? Or how to mine copper & zinc to make brass? Or turn the cartridge cases? Or mine lead (though alternative supplies may be available)? Have to confess I feel engineers should, otherwise I'm not sure too many people do. Which is why the camper seems so unlikely and so much ridiculous fun.
Regards,
Richard
@richardandtracy: The whole 'post apocalyptic' genre is a bit ridiculous or naive in a macabre way. After an apocalypse worthy of the name, there shouldn't be any picturesque dirty vehicles or sexy grunge outfits left for attractive protagonists to use for their little adventures. Even the attractive protagonists should no longer be there - or they should look anything but attractive. But once again, I'm too obsessed with reality and too pessimistic...
Sad. I exactly want 1940s cars and was about to get excited when I first saw this, but I would rather not have any products on hand that I have to remember I can't use, even for the couple of bucks that it is after the punch discount.
They're around, they're just a bit tricky to find. Everyone wants to do hot rods, vintage, or quasi-futuristic stuff. I guess straight contemporary sedans aren't sexy enough.
I can speak to this because I just a week or two ago had to do a scene where I needed to fill a parking lot with cars that wouldn't look out of place in the present day, and even though I planned to use a lot of instancing, I still wanted at least four or five distinct models for variation. I already owned Petipet's Ranger and Xivon's Modern SUV, both of which are recommended but both are Land Rover-ish so if you want a coupe or sedan these aren't it. I bought Polish's Upper Class Car because it was on sale (and did not buy his other two Upper Class vehicles because they weren't); the Upper Class Car is basically a BMW. And then I filled out with two very generic, fairly low-res sedans that come as props with Bituka's gas station set.
It's not exactly a sedan, there is the fabulous Zirael Flyte Hatchback Family Car by @gcjellyfish:
Heh.
While I agree with you 100%, I also note that Xivon, bless him, has in the past given us an armored, bespiked version of a Reliant Robin; a truck made out of the remnants of a B-52; a steampunk pumpkin carriage; a flying food truck AND a flying ice cream truck; this beautiful ridiculous thing; a pyramid that can't decide if it's the latest Vegas casino or the HQ of the alien vanguard on Earth; a vehicle which moves by walking spider-like whose legs are parts of backhoes and other construction equipment; a mecha dinosaur; etc etc etc.
With Xivon I just roll with it and don't ask too many questions.
