...yes. We used to have them at the crossings where I grew up.  Different design than the one with the set.

Have some RL stuff to deal with the next couple days, but then will sit down and work up a scene.

There were several different designs of crossing signals, before crossing signals were automated, they would have a guard shack, or crossing shanty with a man who would come out and use a flag during the day, and a lanturn at night, at really busy crossings, they would have what was called an elevated gate tower, where the man inside would lower the gates, turn on the red lights and ring a bell, all pretty much at the same time!

So.. Picked up the Hi.. not too bad.. Classification lights need to be a different colour (not red, unless traveling light engine), (- red - end of train, white - train running as an "extra" or non scheduled train, or green, indicating a second section was following (second section - usued when a passenger train sold out and it was needed to add a second train  to it, running as a "section" of the original passenger train))

    Time to play..

I used the Pliable Plastic Shaders neon colors to change the lights as needed, so I made it an extra or second section train, I also picked up the track pack, also picked up the flat people pack, so I could pack my bleachers at the drag strip, unfortunately, that isn't working out too well, the fact that its made for Poser shouldn't even be an issue, the people render just fine, that much I checked out, even in Iray, the problem is, the way it loads, you have people standing on top of people, and as far as the crowd scene goes, they are all the same people, somehow, this ain't gonna work out too well, I think I will stick with the billboard people that are sold at DAZ, at least those work right, guess we need to leave modeling to the real professionals!!:o)

You don't have to be young to pop wheelies!

Ganny's bike is a Poser prop from Rendo (by Adh3D) that needed retexturing for Iray.

...sweet, what did you use for the smoke?

Noticed a texturing error on the side of the locomotive it reads "Yawatha" Shouldn't be too big a fix to change that.

  • hacsarthacsart Posts: 2,025

Yeah.. I'll fix that after the fact - smoke done in Photoshop as PP, using some free smoke brushes..

Tried to retexture the "Yawatha" but no luck... so I made a plane primitive, (1M,1 div) scaled it at 55.8% overall, and 12.0% Z  scale.. and applied  these textures, top one as diffuse, second as opacity map  and add it to the side of the loco after setting the opcity of the original surface to 0.. Took some playing for position, but it seemed to work..  The original attachmebts are 4000x500.. feel free to use if you like.. (the colours macth the RGB values used for the red and yellow of the original textures....

...yeah takes me back. Still remember seeing the original "Little' Red Wagon" down at the Great Lakes Dragway just south of Milwaukee in Wisconsin.

I recall building a 1/25th scale plastic model kit of the ittle Red Wagon in the late 60's or early 1970's. I believe it was by MPC or Revell...

Found a '37 Buick Special at rendo.. Seems to work ok..

    Shiny or not so shiny?

That looks like the Dreamland Models model, I have that one as well, just don't use his cars too much since they are basic lo-poly models, but when doing a large scene, they work very well.

    Looks great!!!!

I remember when Robert F. posted this render of a VW. I liked it so much I downloaded it and still have it in my collection. Not sure where you got this Robert, but it's nice

Got it over at Vanishing Point I think but could be wrong

    Nice!!!!

I did this one a while back. Wasn't sure what car I used as I got it from a site now gone. I later realized it was a 1937 Buick. I used an HDRI on the enviro sphere for the background. I think this render turned out very realistic. I got lucky...haha.

    Yes...turned out quite well....

What a beautiful scene of traditional hot rods and what appears to be a 1950's Olds or Buick...

It must be a forum bug of some type, the image usually shows up when you submit the reply, and then everything else is working normaly.
