Massively Lowered G8F Load Time

anaximanes_2000anaximanes_2000 Posts: 343

For over a year, it has taken me on a blank G8F more than 15 mins to load.  I was told that it is the number of morphs and such, so the more you have, the longer the load times.  On my external Drive it was 27 mins! lol However, today I happened to look at HELP > TROUBLESHOOT > LOG and noticed I had a HUGE number of "Duplicate Links Found" and a few "Missing" files.  After redownloading and reinstalling the missing files, things improved vastly.  And, I fixed all of the duplicate files - now load time is down to 3 mins.  Changed my life.

I have one duplicate file left that I am hoping to figure out.  Even though I deleted the folder and everything, it is still coming up.  But really, what I wanted to do is not delete the one it is listing.  Rather, I want that one.  I don't need whatever the "other" one is.  I saw Richard say that the duplicated on that list are the "second" thing it finds.  Anyone know how to find the "first"?  I have purchased Alice from here, the Belladonna model with the dress, and I want to use her.  I uninstalled her on the IM and physically went and deleted her folders:

Duplicate formula found linking yOrigin & Alice Body in /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs/Belladona/Alice/Alice Body.dsf.

But, as you can see above, I am still getting a long list like this.  I plan on reinstalling her, but thought maybe if I got rid of all her stuff first, I could find the culprit causing this last duplicate error.  So, how do I find the "first" file that Daz comes across that is causing this?  Hope this helps others relieve massive load times.

  • Duplicate Formulae or Duplicate Links? The former have nothing to do with duplicate files, they are usually a naming clash between two products (in this case presumably another Alice).

  • BejaymacBejaymac Posts: 1,886

yOrigin is the Y axis parameter name for the center point in every bone in G8F, and there is 171 copies of it.
The problem is that no Formula/ERC link can be connected to yOrigin as it's not an asset/sub asset ID, so the question is why are you getting them.

Especially as I know the files for the product are fine, one of my friends has it and I've already checked it to make sure.

  • Not really sure Richard as I am not a technical person, I am an artist.  But I guess I can show you and Bejay the list of things.  Please see attached.

These are the ones that I cannot get rid of, I own Alice and her Dress and can redownload her right now and reinstall her, but I tried deleting even her folders manually and I do not see any of this.  That is, I went to the Belladona folder and completely removed the Alice folder after uninstalling it with IM.  So, Bejay, I don't know anything about your friend and such, but if you are saying reinstalling her will now remove these, I will do it.  From what I read on other threads, I thought these were conflicting with something that came before them.  Again, none of this makes sense to me, but I'll do whatever removes these as then my log should have no more errors.

  • I should add though that honestly, I do not care about the Alice model here, I only bought her for her dress, so if either of you can do two things for me, I'd appreciate it.

    1. Help me remove these files right here as I cannot find them.

    2. Help me download Alice again, I guess I'll have to do it manually, but ONLY get her outfit as I do not want/need her.

I think that would get rid of these errors while I can still use her dress for one of my clown characters.

Now that I've seen the whole error message I understand why it's using the parameter name, bone sub asset ID's can be a bit long winded.

Basically it's as Richard said, you have two (or more) DSF files in the "data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs" folder using the same internal ID, in this case "Alice%20Body".

You need to find all conflicting products and decide which one to uninstall.

  • Ok, but how do I do that. On every single thread that I've seen, they never explain how to find this part. Obviously searching using the window search doesn't help, so how do I find it? And please be extremely basic as I do not understand any of this.
  • And also, what I'm really trying to remove entirely is the Alice character that your friend has. The one that comes with the dress, whatever the other Alice is is obviously something that I have had a long time that I want, I don't even like the way that the other Alice looks. So how do I remove her entirely so that this no longer shows up? Then I'm going to try to reinstall her with just the dress. As mentioned before, I deleted her through the install manager and I physically went and removed the Alice folder from the belladonna folder. How do I completely remove her so that there is no more conflicts?
  • So in the WIndows 11 search of the data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs folder, I put:

    *Alice (found nothing)

    Alice%20Body (found nothing)

    *Alice%20Body (found nothing)

    Alice Body (found nothing)

I really need a hand getting rid of her, if you can please aid me.  I just cannot find these files.

Thanks!  The issue I am having, after looking at your list here, that involves the thing the others are helping with is, to use an example:

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice

Does not exist on my computer because I deleted that folder. (So mine is only C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona)  So I am having an issue understanding why Daz is still telling me the:

Duplicate formula found linking yOrigin & Alice Body in /data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 8/Female/Morphs/Belladona/Alice/Alice Body.dsf

Since I no longer have the Alice folder in the Belladona directory, what is Daz refering to?  Thanks again!

You have probably installed Alice also inside DS in 'Smart' Content (=DAZ Connect), which installs everything the second time into a different location, doubling the space usage and causing all sorts of other problems.

Not knowing the path to your DAZ Connect installed content, the path has a 'Cloud' in it

In general, if you are installing content with DAZ Central, Install Manager or manually, do not log in/sign in to DS, because the only reason to do so, is to use DAZ Connect inside DS to install your content.

Thanks for trying help but now I am even more confused.  So, you are saying that I have doubles of everything on my computer?  How do I delete the 50% that I don't want?  I only logged into Daz once because the first time, I think it made me.  Otherwise I use IM to install it all.  So, that's the folder I deleted.  Where can I find all the "doubled" content?  You said you do not know the path, but it'd be whatever it automatically does.

We need to see, where your content is installed, go to Content Directory Manager and take a screenshot of the folders in there

I am pretty new to all this Daz stuff, but I currently install everything through DAZ Central (with studio closed). I have auto login for studio as I assumed it needed to confirm I own the content before I could use it. I've been nervous about signing in lately as I don't want to upgrade to 4.16 just yet. I'm not using the software daily or even weekly unfortunately, but this info could simplify things for me.

Sorry to hijack the thread, just trying to get a better understanding of the software.

If you are installing your content with DAZ Central, DAZ Install Manager (DIM) or manually, there is no reason to Log in/Sign in to DS - Yes, DS does ask if you want to log in or use the program in Offline mode, but just choose the offline mode.

In DS preferences, set your startup options as in the attached image.

The Text was a reference point. if you did a default install and if you did a custom install so yes you would have to go to where you installed DAZ. My install is D:\Daz 3D\Applications\Data\DAZ 3D\My DAZ 3D Library. If you did the default install your Daz connect library is in your documents folder.

Side note everything in your documents folder is backup by Onedrive if you have it enabled. This means there could be a backup replacing the files after you delete them, or it could be doing files on demand, which will allow; it to pull files from Onedrive if they need to be used. You can uninstall Onedrive in the control panel programs and features. So if Alice is in your connect folder there's a copy on Onedrive.

  • @PerttiA - I'll start with yours, this is the thing mine shows.

  • @AgitateRiot - I had to go find this One Drive thing you were talking about as I never heard of it.  I did manage to find it and it says I have less than 1mb on it, and when I looked at it to see what that 1mb was it was an empty folder that said One Drive Personal and there was a file that explains how to use One Drive, so I closed it.  So, that's unfortunately not it.

  • Daz forums appear to have eaten my screenshot @PerttiA - here it is again.

Ok, you have 3 content libraries in the traditional locations, the last one (scenes) is 'nested' as it is actually a subfolder of the first one. Nesting can cause problems.

The traditional locations are used to install content with DAZ Central, DAZ Install Manager (DIM) and manual installation.

Whatever, if any content you have installed within DS with DAZ Connect, the files will be found in C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ Connect Library\Data\Cloud\[identification number of the product (=SKU)]\

The SKU for Alice And Her Outfit For Genesis 8 Female is 79885 (it may be preceded with "1_", making the folder name 1_79885, but I'm not sure as I have never allowed DAZ Connect to do anything)

  • Oh, the Scenes folder is for me since each of my novels uses around 6,000 renders, I like to have the scenes seperated into their own folders for each novel, then subfolders and such for organizational reasons, instead of thousands of files all in the one folder.  Unfortunately, I did go to the C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My DAZ Connect Library\Data\Cloud\ and there are 16 folders there.  None of the numbers matched what you showed, so for the heck of it, I searched for *Alice and it found nothing.  So, then, I went through each of the folders myself, but nothing called Alice.  I do not appear to have a single file on my computer anywhere named Alice but Daz is still listing all that in the log.  I guess it'll be an error never solved unless someone has even more advice to check.

And, I want to tell you tahnk you for going through the steps and visual aids because it helped me understand.  If only I could find a single thing called Alice anywhere on my computer.  I have no video games installed, this is a computer with Daz, Photoshop, Twine, Renpy, Word 2021, Discord, and Spotify on it.  Nothing else has ever been installed at all, so where this Alice stuff is that Daz is seeing is beyond me.

    If Alice wasn't there, she is in one of the two 'traditional' content folders;

    C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice\
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice\

These two locations in addition to the possible 'Cloud' location that you checked, are the only locations where she can hide and still be seen by DS

Searching with Windows Explorer may not always give you the correct results in a Windows installation that has been configured like Microsoft wants it to be configured.

  • Ok, I shall check these!

  • C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice\ popped up with an angry windows sound and said the location could not be found.

Oh and the second one did the same thing.  But, thank you for trying!  Again, I appreciate it.

The paths are correct and the folders are there, otherwise DS would not be seeing anything but the 16 'Cloud' installed products, but as I'm at home, using my heavily tweaked W7, I can't advice you on how to get to those locations in W10 until tomorrow morning (it's 11:15PM here now)

  • No problem!  I still managed to save 24 minutes of a G8F load time.  I was just hoping to shave off a bit more by rectifying whatever this is.  As mentioned way up there, the C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice\ is the one that I personally deleted, so I can say for sure it's not there.  It was the one the path shows in the Daz log, so, I deleted it before even coming to the forums here, without luck.

    So, she is hiding in C:\Users\Owner\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Morphs\Belladona\Alice\

Depending on how your Windows is set up, Windows may think you have no right to access that folder.

  • To show you, it now only contains the other 4 models I own by Belladona.
