Horo, wonderful view of these objects. I should try TIR too!
adbc, good looking scene. Maybe a lower camera position might create a more dramatic view?
Yellow Pen, Horo, mermaid, Hansmar : thank you.
Hansmar : I might try that later.
Thank you Hansmar.
mermaid010: Nice SciFi scene
adbc: a strange place, nicely done. I like the "clouds"
Horo: Excellent image and use of TIR. It inspired me to create a little picture, which shows the influence of Maximum Ray Depth (MRD) and TIR.
Material is from the default library Gemstones -> White Creams -> Diamond. The diamond is a free model from 3dfree.com. I added the spheres in order to show, that TIR has no influence here. Horo explained it well in his picture above. Light comes from the Bryce sun with a value of diffuse of around 180. You can clearly recognize, that the standard values for MRD and TIR, which are '6' and 'not enabled' (second example from the right) does not give a really convincing result. The diamond looks rather dull and like made of glass. Anisotropy can even enhance the effect somewhat. I am not sure, if it looks better, but it is interesting to play around with.
Not correct in my opinion are the caustics, which Bryce calculate. They look always the same, but I have no real diamond to proof it :-D
Elvis, excellent image to show the differences. I think that the first on the left looks the best. Not much difference between the 2nd and 3rd but they look worse after that.
mermaid, love the abstract and the spooky feel to the space scene.
adbc, great image with the fire and desolate location
Horo, always educational when you post images. Much appreciation.
Thanks for the comment Electro-Elvis, nice examples of MRD and TIR thanks for sharing
Thanks NGartplay
Electro-Elvis, NGartplay : thank you.
Electro-Elvis : thank you for sharing great examples of MRD and TIR.
Electro-Elvis - thank you for sharing your tests. Without your comment at bryce5 I would never thought to experiment with TIR settings. MRD was always quite clear to me, but not TIR. No matter how long one has used Bryce, there is always something new to learn.
NGartplay - thank you.
Three terrains from the Crater Construction Kit (author unknown) with a material from Terrain Stacking, the Grobburg on the mountain top was once available at Daz 3D, the near clouds are a small flat sphere with the material of a infinite slab from the Sky Toolbox and the other clouds a CloudSphere with the same material. Within the castle two radials.
Another superb landscape Horo, the clouds are awesome
Horo : amazing landscape, great terrains and clouds.
Thank you mermaid and adbc.
Horo, fabulous landscape. When you add exaggerated components to an image it makes it seem magical.
Electro-Elvis, Thanks for this great clear set of examples.
Horo, Fantastic terrain and render.
Thank you NGartplay and Hansmar.
Electro Elvis - all these Diamonds looks beautiful...thanks for showing us.
Horo - I agree with Mermaid and adbc... wonderful Terrains and Clouds.
Thank you Yellow Pen.
The terrain is from HRT 3 with a material assembled from Gritstone Hills and HRT 4. The water is a self made terrain with a material from HRT 4. Sky and ambient light by an HDRI from Environment - Inclement Weather.
Wow Horo another fantastic photorealistic render, superb setup
Horo - amazing. And the Light is wonderful too.
Horo, love your shoreline. Very realistic.
Thank you mermaid, Yellow Pen, and NGartplay.
Triple stacked terrain from Grand Mountains with materials from two HRT sets. The tower is by Steven Ray, the material from Fifty Funky Shapes & Fifty Funky Metals. Clouds and the ambient light from the Sky Toolbox.
Horo : wow, two smashing, realistic renders.
Electro-Elvis: Many thanks for this very useful TIR comparison!
Horo:
- A cool way to prsesent that "Grobburg". (Imagine the poor postman delivering the daily newspaper, *g*). Great mats and clouds!
- Great "Gritstone Hills" shore scene. Wonderful mat and water. The sky fits well to it.
- Great terrain work in your "Grand Mountains" scene. (I first missed that small dark tower.)
Horo - you are the King of Landscapes... this here is beautiful too. Linke all the others. Beautiful and impressive.
I agree with Yellow Pen, another beautiful realistic landscape Horo
Thank you adbc, hubert, Yellow Pen and mermaid.
Electro-Elvis: Thank you very much for the test.
Horo: Wonderful renders as usual, the mountains look spectacular.
I don't know if it's pertinent to ask this here, but I did a little animation and I don't know if I could post it in this thread (although I created its first two scenes with Blender and the rest with Bryce).
Greetings to all and long live Bryce.
Teobaldo - I don't see any problems, we would love to see the animation, since part was done in Bryce
Teobaldo - thank you. Give it a try, in other threads here artist show their animations.
