Misssing Content

I recently installed Daz Studio. All my products show up in the Content Library, but nothing shows up in Smart Content. Can someone help me?

    Did you also install PostgreSQL?

  • I installed PostgresSQL and it still didn't work.

  • How did you install your content?

    Manual, DIM, Connect, Central?

You might just need to reimport the meta data.

Right click on the "Smart content" or "content library tab, or click the menu option button(arrow and lines button at the top of the pane group, make sure smart content or content library are active as the menu options change with the active tab).

The select the "Data base maintenance" option.

In the popout tick the "re-import meta data" option.

As long as the support files are present in mapped directories, then cms should process them and update smart content.

  • I followed all the steps you laid out for me. It imported the metadata, however, Smart Content was still empty.

  • I almost forgot. I used Daz Install Manager.

Did you check and see if you installed what I said above because if you didn't install it smart content won't show. If you install with DIM go to the installed tab and type in PostgreSQL in the search field and see if it comes up under installed. If it shows in ready for download you need to install it.

  • Are you looking at the File or Products tabs in Smart Content? Do you have items under the Categories or Products headings in the Content Library pane? If you look at the files under Daz Studio Format do they have a tag att op-right saying whjat kind of file theye are (Wearables, Wardrobe, Scene etc.)?

  • I looked under both the Files and Products tabs and both were empty. I used to have items in the Content pane but just now when I checked, there 's nothing there. Also, there's nothing under the Daz Studio Format.

Sounds like you are installing the content to a folder that DS doesn't see.

  • I appreciate all your help guys, but I am going to try to use Daz Central instead. Wish me luck.

It just sounds like your content is being install somewhere other than were DS will look. You need to go to the advanced settings>Downloads tab in DIM, and screen shot it and paste it here so we can see where your installs are going to.

DAZ Central is going to have yet another idea of where it's going to install content...

You need to find out, where your content is installed and check that DS is looking for content in that location, installing content with different methods over and over again is not going to help.

  • Attached is the screenshot requessted.

Nope. That's the download folder, not where it installs to.

Another piece of information we need is, where DS is looking for content - That can be found in Content Directory Manager, see the attached screenshots.

  • Ascania, what informaiton are you asking for?

  • Download this script, using the link above the code, and drag it into the Daz Studio Viewport. That will make sure that Daz Studio is looking in the folder Install Manager is writing to.

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/file_io/install_manager_config_import/start

  • I did as you asked Richard, but nothing has changed.

You need to expand the headings (push the plus sign) to see the folder paths, just like in my example

Ok, now we still need to see the path, where DIM installs your content, but as I dont use DIM, I cant give you an example.

In your case, DIM should be installing content to "C:/Users/Owner/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library" or "C:/Users/Public/Documents/My Daz 3D Library" in order to DS to see them.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like DIM is using the correct path, but is your content actually installed and not just downloaded.

  • Those are all OK, they are just the defaults. Does C:/Users/Public/Doccument/My Daz 3d Library/ exist and does it look as if it holds your files?

  • I found the C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/My Daz 3d LIbrary and it has all my files.

But that's not the path where DS is looking for the content

  • So how do I correct that, PerttiA?

    Wrong!

That's where your install to, your SECOND content folder.

I have no idea, how your content ended up in where it is, but now that it is there, I think the safest way would be to add that path under 'DAZ Studio Formats' in 'Content Directory Manager'
