Okay well, at least this is showing up now... So I bought this item just yesterday and I tried it out today but for the oddest reason, I keep getting a script error whenever I tried the ZForearm Unlocker. I tried to"reset database", see if that would work, I also did the manual install just in case I was missing a file but I'm still getting it.
Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose converter and Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose converter:
Should both products work on Daz Studio 4.9 Mac or not?
They do not work on my computer Mac Os Sierra 10.12.6
Make sure figure is selected.
The values are consistent so it should work.
Hi,
I am having a problem with the Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter (ver 1.2). I worked fine after I purchased and installed it from the Daz Store... up into I had a system crash in the middle of a long conversion batch with some corrected Zeddicus poses (removing the Carriage Return in the pose files), and now it doesn't work anymore. The conversion looks like it runs successfully, but there is no output in the target directory. I tried removing the script, and reinstalling from the Daz Install Manager. Also tried changing paths. And even deleted the Registry location where the script saves it settings. Doesn't matter if I convert one file, or a directory. Or if metadata is selected or not. Same behavior, it runs and no output.
According to the log file, it looks like one of the path variables is being mangled when it is concatenated:

Is the log correct? Any ideas why the concatenation for the output path fails, and how this can be resolved?
Thanks!
Hi Zev0,
I always experienced some "deviations" using your "Genesis 2 to Genesis 3 Pose Converter". Although applying the "ZForearm Unlocker" to my G3 characters, the converted poses look very different compared to the G2 pose-model.
Especially the arm's twist parameters are completely mismatching (Example: G2_Right_Shoulder_Twist: -40.8 <--> G3_Right_Shoulder_Twist: -30.8) These values are all well inbetween the allowed limits.
For the Forearm_Twist the difference is way bigger. There must be some errors in your script formulas.
And I saw that for the fingers, the neck, etc. there are some noticable differences too.
Did you submit an update in the meantime?
How can I have a look into your (encrypted) script to apply the necessary rework by myself?
They will never match up perfectly because of the rigging differences. We found that if we made one that perfectly matched one pose, the results would be a lot worse for another pose, so we had to find a middle ground. Regarding the hands, Slosh released Handy Dandy at the same time so we left out the hands so we wouldn't conflict releases. So if you have Handy Dandy, use that to correct the hands. The forearm unlocker just removes limits on the forearm. Some pose sets exceed the limits there, and G3 with limits on could'n't match. We also were not allowed to change the limit factor on figure by default (that is user choice) so best we could add was the forearm unlocker.
Script can and will never be updated unfortunately. Draagonstorm was the only one with the source files, and she passed away last year. So like you, I am also stuck with encrypted files. If the product is not to your satisfaction, please ask for a refund. Thanks.
When DiscoBob gets back he will look into it.
Hi Zev0,
due to the never match exactly:
That I understand, but it is not an argument for the big differences in the named values.
So I purchased this product quite some time ago and only used it from time to time, I'm now stuck as I wanted to translate a lot of poses from G1 -> G2 -> G3 -> G8, cause now I have some more time free.
It is generous of you to point at the possibility of refund. But for the official DAZ policy it is way too late now.
It is a real pitty that the original designer left that world, which is really sad. But there must be a possibility to get a usuable tool.
Please don't get me wrong, but for some reason I'm not able to spend some more money again for a useful tool.
Is there a way to change the default locations for the tool for the Pose selection? It starts in the wrong content lib for me, and I have my content sorted with Pose as a top level dir, and it would be nice for it to start there...? I checked the PDF, but did not see anything there.
Great product! Asked a question, and solved it already myself. I found the interface through Content Library instead of Smart Content.
The Convert Pose to .duf option in Pose Builder is to change the pose format to .duf which is the standard format now. Before on Genesis 1 and 2 the poses were saved as .dsf. The script only works with .duf. So once you choose a pose folder that has .dsf files, convert to .duf and it will be able to be used. You will now see two copies of the poses in that pose folder. One in.dsf and one in .duf. So now when you want to use that pose set it can be used. If the pose set is already in .duf format then it will not populate in the list to convert, and nothing will happen because there is nothing to convert. Also the reason you need the figure selected is because you cannot apply a pose to it if it isn't selected. The script needs to know what figure it is applying the poses to.
Hi, sorry for the dumb question here, but I bought all of your Pose Converters the other day. I am wanting some info on converting G2 to G3. I see the file called Zorearm Unlocker but not entirely sure how this works. Can you tell me, do I need to load this each time I want to convert a pose? Does this not batch convert like the V4 to G1/G2 converter?
Thanks
Hi Zev0. Thanks for the quick response. So if I want to run batch to convert all of my G2 poses to G3, would I just apply this the one time on the figure loaded into scene and then run batch as normal like the V4 to G1 method? I also see a Pose Corrector for the G3 to G8 and wasn't sure what that is for either. Sorry for my confusion on this, but I couldn't find any documentation in the Scripts folder with the product so I wasn't sure.
One last question, are any of your pose converters able to convert G1 to 2, 3 or 8? I have a lot of Genesis poses as well that I was hoping to convert.
Hi Zev0. So I noticed that the G3 to G8 converter has option to create Metadata for use with Smart Content. Is there a good way to do this with the other converters?
Unfortunately not within the older converters. They cannot be updated for new features as Draagonstorm had the source scripts and she is no longer with us. I have no way of getting those:(
Oh. Sorry to hear that. Well I do know how to edit metadata so it will be tedious, but I can probably figure out how to add the new poses into Smart Content panel.
Hi, Pose Builder for Genesis 3 Question (Version 1.1) question. Couldn't read this whole thread so dunno if it's been answered before.
I have a Genesis 3 Male selected in my scene, I try the Pose Builder, select an upper and lower pose, hit process, and it just puts the guy in T pose.
I have no idea what's going wrong.
Any help?
Did you assign a different pose to those sections that were ticked? Where it says click here to select pose, you must add in a pose from your pose collection, or nothing will happen.
Also for those who arent aware, the product is also compatible with Genesis 8. I just cannot update the script to say that, so it isn't advertised.
Yup. Picked two different poses, then I hit the 'Process' button.
I don't know if it's relevant but I'm using Daz 4.9 Daz is on my D drive. Was wondering if that could be a contributing factor somehow.
Edit: I see yours doesn't appear to be on the C drive either, so that shouldn't be it.
Drive location isnt a factor. Is that happening with all poses or from a specific set?
Interesting! I was trying it with Be Seated for Him poses and was getting nothing. I tried some other poses and it worked.
Might you know why those poses wouldn't work with the script?
No idea. I suppose not every vendor saves poses the same. It is hard to pinpoint why some work and others don't.
