All of my content is uninstalled [RESOLVED - sort of]

Drogo NazhurDrogo Nazhur Posts: 1,112

The files are physically on my computer but DAZ does not think that they are there. What happened? Do I have to physically reinstall all of them? Or is there so global reset that I can do?

It sounds like connect somehow think they are installed with that, and then it will override the normal installation.

How do you determin that DS doesn't register the content?

Look at the Content Directory Manager. Is the correct library listed as a content library in Daz Studio Formats and Poser Formats? Or, perhaps is your content on an external drive that had a drive letter change?

Have you checked the path for your content in the Content tab fly open menu: Content Directory Manager?

How did you install? When you say Daz does not think theya re there what do you mean - that they don't show anywhere (including in the Content Library under Daz Studio Formats/Poser Fomrats), that they show in the Formats containers but not the database-driven views (Categories, products, and the presets tabs in property panes), or that they show fine but give an error on loading?

It looks as if you spread the information over two threads, which is not helpful. is this still current? https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/491581/smart-content-stopped-working#latest

All the products are greyed out.

What happens if you try to open a product from the Product Library?

It is on an external drive but I've had it on that drive for years and it has always worked.

Yep. Paths are pointing to where everything is

Does the drive letter that the external drive is currently mounted to match the drive letter in the Content Directory Manager? This is critical.

How did you install? I have always installed using DAZ Install Manager.

When you say Daz does not think theya re there what do you mean - The products are greyed out and if I right click to install, it shows an incorrect path after the install is finished so it still can't find the product.

They DO appear in the Content Library but when I double click on them, they still fail to load.

When I opened that thread it appeared that just my Smart Content wasn't working but as I tried to create things it appeared that the problem was more wide spread than I originally thought.

Yes. Nothing has changed except all of my stuff is greyed out.

I just want to add that I have been using DAZ for years and have nearly a hundred pages of DAZ products install, so I am not new to this. Everything just suddently became uninstalled and I can't reinstall it. I tried right clicking and uninstalling and reinstalling it that way. I also tried to install it via DAZ central. That also did not work. I'm out of ideas.

The first image shows what I see in the editor. You'll notice that none of the elements of the product as visible and the skin doesn't look correct with some parts of the body whited out. The seond image shows how that secen rendered.

Please don't show nude, textured figures.

The framed ! means that the thumbnail is missing or unreadable, but the lack of an ! at lower-lft means that there is a .duf file there. I suspect the files are corrupt - if the product was greyed out and you double-clicked then DS will have downloaded it (if on line) or asked to go online to download it; I think you allowed that and the files failed to decrypt correctly. In that case the "wrong" location would be /data/cloud/1_#####, where ##### is the product's SKU. It sounds as if you have two issues - one, the installed files from DIM are not being found - please check barbult's suggestion above; two, the Connect (through Daz Studio) installation is failing to decypt the files, so they are theer but not applied correctly - this may be an issue with security software, or an issue at Daz' end.

But everything was working fine. How did everything become corrupted at once?

  • Drogo NazhurDrogo Nazhur Posts: 1,112

The time stamps on the files are from years ago. So I don't know how they could have been corrupted?

    Answer:

    • DO NOT install from inside Daz Studio (that uses Daz Connect and puts the files in the "cloud" folder on your computer).
    • If you have already installed product from inside Daz Studio, UNINSTALL it from inside Daz Studio. then reinstall it from DIM or Daz Central (whichever you use, but not both).
    • NEVER install a product two different ways (Daz Connect and DIM or Daz Central). Doing so will cause your product files to be installed in two places (duplicated files) and Daz Studio will always use the Daz Connect version. Any updates you install with DIM or Daz Central will be ignored.

The files are physically in E:\DAZ\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\

That is where they have been for years but yesterday all of my products were greyed out and the thumbnails were no longer showing up.

The example that I showed above is a brand new product that I just purchased today and installed it with DAZ Central and as you can see it does not show any path or creation date and the file size shows zero.

I've been using DAZ for years and nearly a hundred pages of product content in my library. Not a hundred products but a hundred pages of product.

And is that where DS is pointing? As Barbult asked, have you checked that the E: drive is still the E: drive (and that it was when you set it as a content location)?

The database is on the C drive which is where it has always been.

My Connect Data and Studio Formats are on my E drive

And I don't use Poser so I never did anyting with those folders

Everything under Products is greyed out even though everything is still there.

Highlighted in yellow above, you spelled your Content directory location as DAS instead of DAZ. is that a typo in the forum, or is that true? DAS does not match what is in the Content Directory Manager.

And the drive is showing as E: in the file browser?
