I have posted an image below of my Products = 'G'. Just so as you know it can work :)

Did you look in the Content Library pane in Poser formats as I explained above?

I have Garden Pond, and it is installed into Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Props > Scenery

There is something wrong with your Metadata, one of them has a yellow exclamation mark, and the others do not have any icons. In the dropdown menu in the Content Library pane, select 'Content DB Maintenance' and tick the box 'Re-import Metadata' to see if that fixes it. If not, you can use the Reset Database option, which restores it to it's default state, and then reimport the Metadata again.

If you have any categories that you have created yourself, those will be lost, so try reimporting metadata first on it's own.

    EDIT:

The yellow exclamation mark may also indicate orphaned file references, to you could try that as well as reimporting metadata

OK...re-importing the meta files does seem to have worked...Thanks.

Part of this may be that the DS was automatically updated when I started it. Hope this isn't going to be a regular occurrence...

    Thanks for the help.

    What causes this?

And to get back to the last question I had - the "File Not Found" error page when I try to download and install from the product page?

I have never had DAZ Studio update automatically. The only way that I have ever been able to update DS is through the DIM or by downloading and installing the update myself, so I don't know what you mean here? Also, updating DAZ Studio from DIM with DS already running, can lead to problems. You should always make sure that DS is closed before running any updates. What version are you currently running, Help > About DAZ Studio will tell you the exact version.

Also in your My Account > Product Library, you should be able to download most items directly from there without using DIM. There is a Green button for DIM ready files, and a Blue one for manual download, almost all are in ZIP format now. If you cannot download the manual ones and you are getting an error message, have you tried a different browser?

I haven't heard of any problems like yours, and I can download any of my bought items without DIM, although I usually use it.

There are many reasons for the DB files to get messed up. Have you installed PostgreSQL from DIM, and transferred over the older Valentina/CMS db? PostgreSQL seems to be much more stable, but if you use Smart Content in Carrara, it does not work with it yet, so you should stick with Valentina in that case.

It was DIM, not DS - I was tired and not taking the cold weather very well...

And yes, DS was closed at the time - I learned fast that having DS open when using DIM is not a good thing.

OK...are you telling me that I can manually download any DAZ product to the C:\Users\OrcaSoul\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloadsfolder - and DIM will install it?
Will that also work with 3rd party zip files?

    That would be great!

No, downloading with DIM is by far the easiest way to install content. Some people prefer to download and install the content themselves, and you can do that, but I see no reason to download yourself, and then try to get DIM to install it, that would not work? You can, however, use DIM to ONLY download your content, and not install it immediately.

There is a checkbox on the 'Ready to Download' tab which says 'Install After Download', uncheck that box, and the content will be downloaded, but NOT installed, and you can install it later using DIM. It will sit in the Ready to Install tab until you are ready to install it.

DIM only installs content that was bought in the DAZ 3D Store, and is in your Product Library.

What content are you having trouble with using DIM? You do not need to install everything at once, or everything that is available, you can select what items to install inside DIM, you can even only select one item to install at a time.

If you download manually, there is a folder called 'Content' inside the ZIP file, and you have to move everything that is in that content folder into your My DAZ 3D Library, or wherever you keep your content.

If you are having problems with DIM, please post any queries that you have here, and I'm sure we can sort them out.

Yeah, I know that. What I was asking is if there is a product in my "Account/Product Library" on the DAZ site that does not seem to be recognized by DIM and this not downloaded, could I download it manually and copy that downloaded file to the "downloads" folder of the DIM - and have it installed that way? If I can't, and need to install it manually, should it go into the My Daz Library folder DIM uses - and will DIM then show it as installed - of should it go into an alternate library folder?

I'm asking because I seem to have a number of older DAZ products that are not showing in the Library...I may just be missing the clues on this, but my marginal OCD won't let me let them go...LOL!

OK, I think that answers the basic question - so it's mostly a matter of me getting to understand what this does...And I gather that any 3rd party stuff MUST go into a separate folder alongside the My DAZ Library...

Thanks for the help - I just got a call that someone downloaded and installed something call "groovorio" and it took over the gallery's laptop browsers...time to change the password again!

There aren't too many content items that aren't DIM-ready, AFAIK. If the Product Library page has both a DIM and manual-download button, and for some reason it isn't showing up in DIM, you can download it manually and put it in the DIM downloads folder and DIM should recognize it (at least in offline mode). But if the download isn't formatted properly for DIM, DIM won't be able to install it.

OK, thanks - but there is also the problem I have mentioned a number of times, that has still not been answered, the one where I click on the Download and install with DIM - and it takes me to a page that says it can't find the file...

Have you tried recently? It was working for me earlier today, although I had to confirm to Firefox that it was allowed to launch DIM.

I just did - and it gave me the following page at daz3dim://download/462d2cfbb38e3de335557b09e8eb99a5/product_id/9315

    File not found

Firefox can't find the file at daz3dim://download/462d2cfbb38e3de335557b09e8eb99a5/product_id/9315.

Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

And there was no permission needed dialog.

I tried both as run as admin and not, same thing.

OK....I just tried with IE, and it worked - downloaded and installed...since I already had the product I used as the test, does this replace what was there, or give me a twin?

Anyway, I can use IE if I have to, but would prefer to get it working in Firefox...

    Thanks.

No, it will replace the product already installed, assuming that you installed it to the same library folder.
