The question is more tongue-in-cheek and if there is any humor in it, it is in the vein of the ongoing conversation around "Giff" vs "Jiff".
So, which is it? Regardless of how you feel about it, how do you say it when you say it?
"En-Eff_Tee"?
"Nifty"?
"Neff-tee"?
(Sarcastic, horribly wrong variants are acceptable.)
I wouldn't be surprised someone mentioned "NFTs are the new hot ticket. We should get in on that. Did you know people can make $69 million mad money like that Beeple guy"? and someone in the executive department said "Yeah!"
Regardless, and as I said, this NFT thing imploded faster than it blew up. I hope DAZ didn't sink too much capital into this stupid bandwagon.

Most of the NFTs they are advertising are no longer even available for sale so the promo page is not even relevant anymore.
If you invest time in checking several Daz-related LinkedIn profiles, you may find that the idea came from a very prominent position within the Daz food chain (having that on the personal profile, plus selling the 2020 Daz storepocalypse as a success story)
Depending on the language, gift can mean something different. In German, we do have "Gift", but that means "poison".
If you think about it, how many people are familiar with the HMHS Britannic or the RMS Olympic?... Both dead ringers for their sister ship the RMS Titanic... if most people came across the ship's wheel or the captain's toilet seat from the RMS Olympic at a museum they would hardly bat an eye, but you show a unused rusted rivet from the same lot that was used to build the Titanic and people will pay to see that...
So technically, the Titanic was pure marketing genius... maybe not so great for the people who got onboard with it... invested in it... or steered it to where they were told to go... but somewhere, decades later there was some guy, somewhere who was like "Naaa, baby... it was pure success... they'll never stop talking about it, yeah?"... "It was Whitestar that blew it, couldn't spin the outcome the smart way..."
He never made a LinkedIn profile before he turned to dust, but if he could have, you know it would have been a total success story...
Well you shouldn't really expect anything to make much sense around here. Clicking the "view studio NFT collection" takes you to the DAZ season pass ad. So according to DAZ the season pass is an NFT? Kinda makes sense after all, thinking about it

Very illuminating. Looking at the Linkedin profiles makes the directions that this company is taking crystal clear.
For years, my morning ritual was to browse and shop the Daz store. Not any longer.
Yeah, not an "arts heavy" or even "technology heavy" bunch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since Daz sees itself primarily as a brokerage, but I don't expect much in the way of technical innovation going forward. Daz is going to end up losing appeal for the younger users who are looking for a more dynamic platform, kind of like Facebook did in social media. There's still money to be made by milking older users, but not a lot of future.
Funny story! Today the maintenance guy came over to fix our blinds and my partner was making small talk with him and mentioned that we wanted to upgrade our computers but couldn't find GPUs. This young guy, who has always been perfectly chill before, launched into an entire 40-minute sales pitch while he worked on the blinds, trying to hook my partner into using her computer to mine Bitcoin. Just on and on about how much he loves crypto, how much money you can make from crypto (he mined a coin once himself years ago and sold it for a pittance and is chasing that high I guess). Wanted to buy our computers for the graphics cards. Just a straight shot from mentioning something tangentially related to cryptocurrency to him trying to rope a random person whose apartment he was in for maintenance into setting up to start mining and investing in crypto.
That this happened in my house and not online was just a little too much for me and Daz thinking it's a good idea to be at all associated with it still blows my mind.
The Media Kit here at the site gives clues also
...recent studies point to a coal bunker fire which started before the ship left Southampton that weakend the hull plates (made of a rather brittle steel) on the side which struck the iceberg.
Thanks for the tip. This explains a lot indeed.
Now, I know what I have to do. Cancel PC+ and spend as little money as possible here from now on.
Added: According to DAZ Deals, my total spent value here is: $20,385.68. I really feel shocked and bad now, knowing how much I spent here and for whom.
Milking the current user base does require that the users do not start to mooh too much, or get into a stampede. From the noise just on the forum I would guess that the moohing is increasing. Perhaps they are squeezing too much already (bundle setup aund pricing, NFT's, SP, you name it. None of that went really that well).
One of the things about NFTs is that the sales of them are public - you can go to the NFT marketplace and see what sold to whom, and for how much.
So I've just been through the Daz items and, as of today, they've sold 11 NFTs altogether (to 9 different people), 7 Shudu ones and 4 or their own, for a grand total of 1.195 credits, allegedly equivalant to $2733.68.
So that's a gross income just south of three grand (before you take out diigital's cut, the cost of minting and everything else). Hardly seems worth it for the trouble its caused.
Yeah, but now everyone gets to put NFTs on their résumé.
Whoa – here, someone hold my beer (because this math stuff can be hard in me current state of mind!)
Way back when this thread started there was something about if you didn’t mine the crypto-coin yourself it would cost you north of $150 to buy enough c-coin for a NFT. Then if you managed to sell the silly thing it was just over another $100 in c-coin for the transfer fee.
So over $250 per sold NFT that didn’t go into the DAZ pocket on this. $250 times 11 is $2750 – which last time I was sober was greater than $2733.68. This of course doesn’t count any of the $150 NFTs that they might not have been able to unload as yet.
So unless DAZ was their own NFT seller and transfer agent in all this they did not ‘make’ any money on selling those NFTs.
I for one thank DAZ for showing me some of the values – and pitfalls – of investing in NFTs.
How do you find the total value spent total?
You need to set the checkmark for "Total Spent & Total Value Owned" in the DAZ Deals addon, then you can see the values at the right top of your order history in the DAZ store. But be warned, you might not like what you see.
I saw what I expected to see.
Successful businesses are usually lead by business people. The goal of business is to make money. The fact that this company has helped a fair number of creative people earn a living over the years is a plus. And by buying here, you're supporting them, too.
Hopefully, you enjoy the products you bought here. That's what makes the money you spent worthwhile. NFTs are naff, but they may go away quietly.
Just say it as it is:

I don't see anything like that in the product library, is this some kind of phone or browser app? If so, I don't have it.

Guess I got off easier than you, my current value is only $11K but value is $42K
Depends. In spent value, yes, but my current value is $206.864,63.
However, I seriously need to spend less. But thanks to DAZ's recent change with increased pricing for bundles with less content and near to null quality control, reduced sales discounts, and removed extra enticements, in addition to some other stuff, like unstable DAZ 4.15, toonish Genesis 8.1, and NFTs, I am cured of my buying addiction for the moment.
I already unchecked the recurring billing for PC+ membership, and I am not sure if I will renew it when it runs out next year.
I just started using 4.15 and I haven't had any problems with it yet, but I would agree with you on the rest of it. I have also stopped my automatic renew on my PC+ membership and have already stopped spending the majority of my 3D budget here.
