It's not obvious where those folders ended up that were supposed to stay under Data. Can you reinstall "Default Lights & Shaders for DAZ Studio" and "Victoria 6"?

The paths don't match -- DS is looking for the file in:
    "data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\UV Sets\DAZ 3D\Base"
    but you have it in:
    "data\DAZ 3D\Genesis\Base\UV Sets\DAZ 3D\Base\Victoria 4"

I am so sorry for not being here today. I hope you understand when I say we are having Neighbour issues that are escalating to police involvement, as I am not allow to take care of it myself. SO I have been tied up dealing with that all day, first reporting, interviews, informal, calling the police for an incident number to get the ball rolling. It is going to be any interesting weekend I am sure. Anyways I digress, I then took to dog out for over an hour to calm me and him down. So while it is still no trouble to help and take some screenshots if they are still needed I will do so when I get more time than I have right now. I haven't even had time to read the last few pages and digest to see what I can do to help.

np szark i understand. I wished I could just totally re download and reinstall everything. last time it didnt re download it said the files were still somewhere and it didnt put the data etc for the base in my program files so im worried if I do it again I will just get the same problems which could be some corrupted install files

ok now base genesis fixed and working I guess best bet is to click on all my figures and characters copy the error message and then locate the files and move them where they are supposed to be at

Thanks. You are installing manually, yes and not the Daz Install. Manager (DIM) (still haven'y read the thread yet).

There is a way to start from scratch if needed and that is to uninstall Daz Studio, delete all the remaining folders and clean the registry. The last part cleaning the registry can be done manually of you trust yourself knowing exactly what you are doing or like I do use CCleaner. A free piece of easy to use software to do the job. I have used if for other software when I uninstall and cleanout residual folders and run CCleaner.

Here is a link on that subject http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14562/P30/#217002 of cleaning out things

But like I said a few pages back all the Installers (EXE) should allow you to direct the installer to install software and content when exactly you want, even after uninstalling and deleting all the folders mentioned in the link above. And even with residual info in the registry it was possible, before I started using DIM and CCleaner, to reinstall software and content to different paths.

great thanks yea i prob wasnt getting rid of everything sop it kept coming back corrupt. I did figure out the installers last night and installed everything to the folder then deleted all the installers and backed up the my library folder so i dont worry since its all installed now. and I just need to clean and organize my runtime.

ok after juggling things arund so far looks like everythings working properly so far.

another question is if I set a pose like a "T" or "A" pose is there a way to set it as default pose for that character?

What do you mean by default pose? Do you just want to have the character in that pose when you load it, or is there something more you have in mind?

well had a crash so reinstalled prog AGAIN and its all screwy again

is there any way to force it to redownload the content again? it keeps reusing the old stuff. alsoit kept wanting to put stuff in my library instead of the base dir and let me choose my library. seems thats where the screw up is happening.

and some files I get from others the character isnt in a T pose or an A pose and I want to pose them and set those poses as default when my program starts and I choose that base character

Ok I will post my current results here in case others have similar problems.

1 I uninstalled all the stuff from the install manager and then selected DELETE item too so it forced it to redownload everything.

2 I uninstalled the program, the content management service, and the install manager

3 went into program files and program data and deleted all daz folders

    4 rebooted Computer

5 clicked start then regedit to edit the registry and under current user/software I deleted the Daz registry keys

6 went into the users folder and deleted the daz stuff there also

    7 rebooted

8 MANUALLY downloadd and installed daz and created a library folder in C

9 started daz and configured my library database and reimported metadata

10 downloaded the install manager and installed all the base content and made sure everything worked fine

now it still shows stuff that I had before but isnt installed yet so I need to see if there is a way to reset that so it only sees what is installed currently then I will add my extra content back a little at a time testing it as i go

but so far everything seems fine lol but i said that last time

sorry for all the hassles with this but dont know what went wrong before but I think it was seeing old stuff that was deleted and it was confusing the program

If you Reset Database before Re-Importing Metadata that should clear out any leftover database entries.

For Poser format items, you need to have the same library folder listed as a Poser Formats folder in the Content Directory Manager

You then need to go to Poser Formats in the Content Library pane to see the content, it will not appear under DAZ Studio Content.

thanks i understamnd abt going to the poser thing but when it asks for runtime dir I was saying my library and stuff didnt show so I redid it and went inside of the runtime folder

You should not give the path by adding Runtime to the end , the path should finish with 'My Library' for BOTH Poser and DAZ Studio.

If you have Poser content installed into the My Library folder, there should be a folder called Runtime in there, and that is where DAZ Studio looks for Poser content. Do you have a runtime folder inside the My Library folder?

Does the runtime folder contain a folder called 'content', or another folder called 'Runtime'? If so, you need to move all of the folders inside of the folder called 'content' up one level directly into the runtime folder, and merge the two runtime folder together as well.

yea there is a runtime folder inside my library and yes I always take the stuff ut of my content folder and paste it where its supposed to go so that its not a sub of content
