On the subject of Women's clothing on men, I did a comparison of the Female Sci-Fi Police Outfit for G8F vs. The Sci-fi Police Officer for G8M on a male figure. Note: the male is an officer, so the uniforms aren't supposed to be mirror copies.
I prefer the one designed for the women. The male has more of futuristic feel but looks more stylized. The female uniform looks like it could be easily kitbashed to make a standard sci-fi crew uniform.
I'm curious which you prefer.
I think #2 looks much more interesting, but I don't know which one (male/female) that is, because I don't own it and didn't go looking it up inthe store.
The second one is designed for females. It does have a ton more detail than the male outfit.
Winter Boots by Dogz went on sale recently. They fit just fine on G8M, and have a nice amount of detail. Strange they don't have a male fit since I see people of both genders wearing these. Check out the nice stitching and the details.
Anyway, I copied them and pasted them in his content directory. Victoria will be sharing these! =-)
Actually- I like both. They could very well show difference in rank and department in the same unit.
I like them both, but they look like they're designed for different things, not just different sexes. The male uniform shoulder and chest pads and helmet could be used over the female for riot gear or some such.
Thanks for the feedback. I’m always curious how others perceive things.
Boyd gets tan easily due to bio-mods.
In fact, I'm wearing mine as I type. At least the Daz ones won't get smelly
LOl. Yeah, I think the boots look pretty good on the guys too. =-)
Where is Owen applying the necessary SPF protection?
And, "Hubba hubba."
Hmm. Interesting render challenge. Where indeed is Owen? I'm guessing Owen applies something like SPF 50 before going out in the sun.... But maybe he'll need a touchup too...
I totally love the lavender shadows against the yellow here! I really admire the colors you bring out in the skin, for me, it takes the work from being another render to being art that stands by itself.
And I know what you mean! I have pale and dark skins on my 2 main characters- it is really hard to light them! In fact I haven't acheived a render where they both look good yet
I really like the detail in the women's version- the chest area is a little too feminine for me. But on the whole-he looks great in it.
Gorgeous
Holy wow....
Thanks Icedrangon art and Summerhorse! =-)
Okay so I get asked a lot how to make painterly renders. Here is the quick and dirty way to do it.
1. I create my basic render using a fairly bright HDRI. In this case its Dimension Theory Maui A HDRI. I also add some bright suns to try to catch some red translucency in the character's ears and extremeties... Since I like that. End result is sort of plain. Don't worry. Its okay. You can correct the image pokethrough if you want. This is my first layer in PS.
2. Lighten it a touch. It can't be too dark. In an ideal world it would already be light enough, but I'm not perfect.
3. In a new layer, not on the figure, draw in your lotion. (Yeah, it puts the lotion on). I use it in photoshop and use one of Ron's slime layer styles. I adjust the transparency so its not entirely opaque. I paint it using my tear method described earlier in the thread in black
4. If you have wet layer styles like ron's slime or a liquid, use that for your suntan lotion layer. Adjust opacity. Yeah, I know its still dark and the lotion is gold. Its a new layer so you can change the color to whatever you like.
5. In photoshop, flatten your work. Copy, and undo. Create a new layer with your flattened copy of your work. It will look like above. Duplicate it again.
6. If you don't have it already, you need a copy of Topaz Studio. its free.
7. I adjusted a freebie filter made by someone else on Topaz Studio. It basically alters your dim dark photo to look like the one here.... As you can see this is no longer dark.
8. If you take the over exposed new topaz studio cartoonish layer... and layer it over the previous darker layer, and set the blend mode to overlay. Voila..... This technique really works well to produce Boyd's amazing tan.
If you don't like the gold lotion, go back and correct it.
9. Finally what I like to do is flatten, copy, and undo, and past my new flat layer on top. Duplicate again. I then go in, and choose an oil paint filter, and apply it to the whole image.
I then erase out boyd Owen and details leaving some elements... Blended. I'll show you after dinner. Sometimes also I will vignette the edges so the background isn't too bright. There you have it!
The filter I use in Topaz Studio has 2 settings. These are the settings. You can create and save this filter for your use.
wow, nice directions...
Love him so much!
Thank you! Glad you like that! =-)
I'm exactly HALF WAY THROUGH you thread. I have to go eat! LOL Love your renders, your perspective, your love of the medium. You should do an art book, you have enough to warrant one! lol
Nicely done! The way you've posed them is so intimate without being overtly sexual.
And thanks for the walkthrough of your work.
Aww... Thanks... =-)
Boyd tellls Owen he wants to take him on a date. Since Owen has come back from deployment, and he has gotten a body, they have never been on a REAL DATE date. Owen's pretty sure being engaged, and having meals together daily, and spending most waking moments together... qualifies as dating, but Boyd disagrees.
He's a romantic. :)
I like how you dressed Owen to accommodate his broken leg. Very realistic.
Owens lost a fair amount of weight here. Probably about 20 or thirty pounds due to mistreatment by aliens. He’s got a shirt on over a sweater and gym shorts over those sweat pants. I figure Boyd would object to him getting cold in that state and was pleased to find the sweats could hide parts of the leg. And also thank goodness for blue rabbit making individual shoes... one of the few pas who does.
Boyd is indeed a romantic and wants to take the relationship slow when Owen returns. He’s been gone a while and they have to get back into the swing of things.Boyd is correct that they never actually dated but it’s no ones fault. He proposes when Owen is being deployed and neither had time.
For the most part the boys spoil each other and in Boyd’s case Owen takes a lot of pleasure in indulging Boyd because Boyd’s reactions are so adorable. It is harder for Boyd to spoil Owen due to Owen being stubbornly self reliant but Boyd is resourceful.
Owen and Boyd mess around with carts again. Notice the boys have all the essentials: Donuts, Cafe Mocha, Beer, and..... Some gifts. No baby Packy though. Guess he didn't fit in the box and there is no pizza either... better make another run.
I'm looking for a small undecorated christmas tree.... IF you know of one. Preferably one a little tamer than this one.
