I just installed daz on my new notebook. I'm getting this view of my figures. It renders fine but the figures in the scene look like the picture below. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thank you.

for some reason the links to photobucket aren't working here. I have this post on another forum that shows the photo so please check it out on the first link. Thanks again.

What version of DS, and what does it say under Help > Troubleshooting > About Your Video Card? I've seen that before, but only with DS2.

I'm using daz 2. I never had this problem with my old pc and I have a much better graphics card. I tried daz 4 but couldn't get it to use any of my content and no one had advice to fix it so I never switched over. Besides, I just do very simple renders anyway. I prefer to work with daz 2 cause its easier and I'm use to it. I'd really like to get that fixed though.

Oh, and here is what is says about the video card.

    Current OpenGL Version:
    4.0.0 - Build 9.17.10.2849
    OpenGL Provider:
    Intel
    Hardware:
    Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
    Features:
    MultiTexturing
    Supported

    Shadow Map
    Supported

    Hardware Antialiasing
    Supported

    OpenGL Shading Language
    Supported

    Pixel Buffer
    Supported

    Pixel Buffer Size
    Not Enabled

    Maximum Number of Lights
    8

    Number of Texture Units
    8

    Maximum Texture Size
    8192 x 8192

    Thank you for your help.

Sorry, I can't seem to find the earlier thread on the problem, but I don't think we ever found a solution.

Darn. LoL. I tried daz 4 when it first came out but I couldn't get it to recognize my content. It would show the icons for my content but if I clicked on any of it, it wouldn't load. I contacted several tech supporters for it and no one could help. This was on my old pc using windows vista. Do you know if it is still a problem on windows 8?

    Thank you for your help.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as your content isn't in the Program Files hierarchy.

Where should the content be installed to then? Where do I tell it to install V4, and the other figures?

You can put it anywhere that the OS isn't protecting. The default for DS4 is either "C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library" (the DAZ Install Manager default) or "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library". I use "Q:\All Runtimes\My Library"

    What is the Q drive?

LoL, I'm running into the same problem. I can load V4 and the morphs. I'm trying to use a skin texture. In the content library it shows all of the files. I can go through each of the file but when I get to the last file that its located in it shows nothing to select on as if the file is empty. The file is not empty but daz 4 thinks it is for some reason.

The default location for all content is now one of two places...
    C:Users/USERS NAME HERE/Documents/DAZ 3D/My Library ...
    C:Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library ...
The Content Folders were MOVED from the Programs folders as the NEW OS types now Protect those areas and that causes Read and Write errors when using content installed to those folders.
The Top folder is created when DAZ Studio is installed at Default install, the Second folder I listed above is created by DIM if it is used. You can also use any Folder on any Drive to hold content as long as it is NOT in the Program Files folders on the New OS's.
Here is a Default Paths in DS and my Custom Paths in DS they both work fully with all content installed to them properly...

Mine looks exactly like the first picture and its not showing the content that is in the folders. It will show the folders but it is acting like there is no content with the folders. Bud my content manager window looks exactly like the first one you posted.

That tells me the CMS is not running. If you look in the Content Library Tab do you have Content there? You should as it does not use the CMS.

Yes, It shows the folders in the content library but the files that are suppose to be in the folders aren't there. It only shows the folders. I can follow the folders all the way to the end like normal on daz 2 but there is no content listed in any of them.

Smart Content is NOT the Content Library Tab...

I'm not looking in the smart content section. I'm looking at the content library tab. Mine is on the right hand side of the scene window. There are 4 tabs to select on; scene, parameters, content library and tool settings are the available tabs. I have content library selected.

Then I'm lost. If the content WAS installed to those folders the folders should not be empty. How did you Install? By Hand from Zips or by using DIM?

All of my content is in a folder called "installed content". All of my content is divided into sub folders depending on the type of content. If its skin textures for V4 then its a folder titled "V4 textures or if its clothing then its titled V4 clothing. With Daz 2 I just copied and pasted the installed content folder where it should go. The exception is of course V4 and M4 as they have to be installed.

I just did a command in daz 4 to scan known directories after linking my installed content folder to it. It now detects my obj.files but it won't show any textures or preset poses still.

Umm... You can not have Nested folders and this sounds very much like nested folders in My custom set up as shown each folder is a folder by itself and each one is listed as a path... that works. You can not have a Content folder inside another content folder that breaks the paths built into the content load files as DAZ Studio does not know which folder to load from unless each one is separate...

Okay, I tried doing it as a single folder but still it won't recognize the content. As I said in the last post, just a bit ago I was able to do a content search and I can load my objects from the other folders, clothes, hair and such but I can't get daz 4 to see any textures. The folders are all shown but just empty. I had this same problem when daz 4 first came out and was never able to fix it. Now I'm on a new pc with windows 8 and still get the same thing.

Is it possible that the problem I was having with daz 2 maybe because my version of it is for 32 bit and my new system is 64 bit? Is there a way to get daz 2.2.2.2 for 64 bit systems still. I'm perfectly happy running daz 2.2.2.2 because I can actually get it to work. LoL.

    Thank you.

Oh your running DS 2? It was never built in 64Bit only DS3A was built in 64Bit before DS4. But all PC's can run 32bit and 64Bit. I think it is just the new OpenGL drivers on you Graphic card causing that issue then. DS2 was built long before the New OpenGL versions.

That still does not fix the Content in Programs Files error. Or nesting. I never said put them all in one folder, My set up shows Many folders.

Is there a way to make daz 2 that I've been using work on my new pc? I'm perfectly happy using daz 2.

I guess I don't understand what is mean't by nesting? What I did to try and solve it is to take just one of my skin texture folders and move it to my desktop. I then linked it up in daz 4 and it still won't show any content to click on. I can go inside the folder but no content is shown. If its a folder that has objects or figures I can do a search for content in directories (not sure if that is the exact command but close) and it will then display the objects but it won't pick up the textures that are with the object.

The one skin texture for V4 I tried to get the program to pick up was Evolution 8. The object I managed to get is the orange suit but it won't detect the textures that come with the orange suit.

I do appreciate your time helping me. If I sound irritable its not you at all. I'm just irritated that I can't get it to work. I don't know what else to do.

It sounds like the path the content is installed in is not listed in Content Directory Manager. Can you pick one of the files you want to load and give the full path as the Operating System sees it? Having the Scan for Content pick up the .obj files but not the DS/Poser format files suggests that the paths are not correct.

I'll try it. What do you mean by "giving the full path as the OS sees it"? I'm not sure what your telling me to do. Sorry, I'm not a pro with Daz. LoL....

For example, the default location for Genesis if you install with DIM is C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis\Genesis.duf

I've done that several times and it still does not see the content. That's where all my content is. I've even put just one folder there and it won't see it. I can get it to see object files but textures and preset figure poses won't show up.

Umm... my Friend DAZ Studio 2 can not use content for DAZ Studio 4 or above. It only supports Poser type content made in the original Poser formats such as Poser9 and below. Only DAZ Studio 4 and above supports the new content types and figures. Sorry.

I think I'm lost Who is using DS4+ and Who is using DS2?

I know and I'm 100% happy with that. I don't do very technical renders anyway. I'd rather use Daz 2 since I can actually get it to recognize the content I have. Is there a way to get Daz 2 to work? I was only considering switching to daz 4 if 2 couldn't do it but since 4 can't do it either.... I guess I'm screwed either way huh. LoL. Anyway, if anyone has an idea on how to get Daz 2 working I'd love to hear it or if there is some kind of fix for daz 4 that would be almost as good.

    Thank you all.

I did point out the OpenGL thing for DS2. I know no way to get a current Graphic card to not use current drivers that I think is causing the transparent in Viewport error.
I do not know the Spec's of the Lap Top and have no idea if it should be able to run DAZ Studio 4.6 or not. Here is the System specs needed to run DAZ Studio on a PC... http://www.daz3d.com/products/daz-studio/daz-studio-tech-specs if the lap top meets those standards the program should run.
