    Cattitude in Spades!

Glad I don't have to brush the debris from that fur coat. My American Eskimo gives me enough grief if I try to remove the 1 leaf he picks up on his travels.

    That is an incredible picture.

No idea. I just came across it as I walked along the path. It appeared to be hunting mice :)

Here those are Maine Coon, or really close to that breed.

Nature Trees Pack 5  is also not in DIM.

You are very welcome Novica :) Feelin the love heartheartheart

Edit: Complaint - there is no indication on the thumbnail of which hair is for G3 and which is for G8. This makes using the product from Smart Content Products folder a real pain.

So I have minimal knowledge of how smart content works. I have never used it.  I do recall a convo I had with a Daz person (tester, qc, other, dunno) and was reassured I did not need to label these because smart content sorts them.  As long as smart content is smart. Sigh.  Maybe I will go back to labelling if this is a consistent problem?  Kinda seems like it is always a problem?

I attached a screenshot of the identical Neroli Hair thumbnails, and a screenshot of a hair product that makes it easy to tell which is G8 hair and which is G3 hair. The latter is preferable. The screenshots show the products in the Smart Content Products tab. IF you select the character then go to the Smart Content Files tab and then check Filter by Context, then DS will show only the hair that fits the selected character, but it will show ALL hairs that fit the character, not just this hair. The Smart Content Products view is useful when you know you want to use a certain product, because all the files for the product (hair, materials, settings, etc.) are there together with appropriate metadata (categories). I think it would be a good idea for PAs to have a working knowledge of Smart Content, since many customers rely on it.

I know this is a slightly older comment, but I'm just catching up with some of the previous comments. I agree with @barbult. It's frustrating when this happens and it's not just @chevybabe25's product. A lot of vendors don't label which character a piece goes to if multiple figures are involved. If the tech folks at Daz are saying it isn't needed, they need to look again. Smart Content which is what I use almost exclusively, until I can't find something I know should be there, forcing me to hunt it down via the Content Library tab, is not that smart. Perhaps that's the way it should work, but it doesn't always.

Labeling the icons for the parts is always the smarter move despite what one might be told by the powers that be. I honestly don't even know if some of the people at Daz actually use their own product if they're telling PAs they don't need to label that stuff.

I have been having to use the info tab to find out if an item is Iray or 3DL, G3 or G8, more than I would like. With computer glasses that are 6 years old and stressed eyes already, it is a joy when I see those little symbols on a thumbnail that give me the 'correct' data. I bless the PA who take the time to label their work.

@karth  Thank you SO much for the free Gnome. Happy Holidays to you!  heart  He is outrageously ADORABLE!

I got three of these for Mom last year to put in her room. I asked what she was going to name them and she thought for a minute and said "A...B...C."

Novica, I had shut down my Daz computers when I saw this last night, but today after loading the update I checked DIM and my Content Library in DS and I found it. The first two 'Nature - Trees Pack 1 & 2' are separated from 'Nature Trees Pack 3, 4, & 5' due to their naming format. Are you able to find pack's 3 & 4?

You're gonna think I'm nuts for sending you to this video- unless you have dogs and cats. This steam cleaner is THE best one I've had in twenty years. The others were difficult to clean, and I am absolutely delighted at the whiz-bang-done effort it takes to clean a totally disgusting brush head. Popping it right off gets you to the brushes and the area where all the hair goes, and they did several things I love and that is-

    1. they made the width of the slit where the water sprays out WIDE so you can easily insert a knife or cleaning tool up there and drag down any hair that didn't wash out
    2. along with that, they kept the area as FLAT as possible so your knife or cleaning tool (which came with it but I think we threw it away by accident) doesn't stop due to a curve. With the cleaning tool or knife plus running water through it from the top of it, whoosh, you get a sparkling clean plastic area (where the water shoots through.)  It's on our right and you can see how it is much longer, going back toward the handle, so the slope is gentle. LOVE this!

You clean the brush area separately, as shown in the video. With the plastic part off, you can easily get all the hair out of the brushes.

LOVE this steamer, so thought I'd share, particularly with you other long haired dog owners. And one other thing- they have a foot tool you can press and it shoots out a stream of water from the front-right, to soak an area. No need for a separate hose/brush!  Which is always annoying as they can come off the spool thingie.

I think we got it at Walmart, and I'm picking up a second one in a month or so, because as you know they discontinue steamers all the time for a "newer" model. This is smaller, with a shorter handle, and so light it's a joy to operate. The width is the same with the large, heavier models, and that tank holds just SLIGHTLY less but covers a really large part of a room.

Above, on your lower left, that green vertical area with the black dot is the sprayer. It's to the immediate left of the words ProHeat2x. The button you step on is the green knob that sits on top the wheel to our left, it's to the left of Bissell. Smart to have that on the same side as the sprayer of course.

I know I'm going to be using this a lot more often. The bigger, bulkier steams with hoses and difficult to clean brush heads and plastic spray sections are a thing of my past. Like the one on our left. HATE that thing.

    WOOT!

    About $200.00 at Amazon

I don't recall exactly what we paid for it, but it was under $200 on sale :) Bissells last a long time (unfortunately, if you get one and don't like it, you're stuck with it for awhile unless you try to return it and good luck getting it disassembled and back in the box LOL)  This time of year you may be able to find some good sales. Home Depot may also have it. (Edit, Target is 280.00 normally, and other places around 250.00. So it ain't cheap, but it's a godsend in my house with four dogs and multiple cats. So Amazon 200 is a good deal at the moment.)

  • I have three cats and Emerald the dog who sheds like a shetland pony twice a year and like any other long thick furred dog in between.

Luckily all my floors are tile except for the bedrooms so I only have an area rug in the living room and the carpet in the cats room (Emerald doesn't go in their room or the bedroom) to deal with

@meshitup  does it right. If you didn't read the details about the Rabari Tribe Outfit, the vendor did hierarchial poses for you. No simulation needed, just click and go!  Kudos!

And Artist Hideout has a lot of rooms! First glance was like, "Okay, a big-pretty-much-empty-room compared to other sets. Then I went exploring. You can easily turn this into an art gallery/museum (think outside the box.) There are displays already set up for you, you have a back storage-type room with shelves for the office or workspace, etc. When you add up all the rooms, you actually get a really decent amount of props. Many are unusual. Love the little tea-light :)

I know, I know, we all have more bedrooms than we need. But take a look at Avril Master Bedroom and Bath. I think you could easily use that for an upscale hotel room too. That bathroom is really unique.  I also like the functional ledge/desk in the bedroom area under the mirrors with the chair. Efficient use of space.

And I really like the lighting in that bathroom render. Really brings out the materials.

Are the walls and ceiling rigged? Looking at the readme and file list (there's a readme! and file list!), it looks like there's only one rigged wall, a center wall that appears to be sort of removable or hideable?

@vwrangler   I don't have it yet, I'm going through my cart and having to cull items/ wishlist them (IF they go in the wishlist. My goodness, will this store changeover EVER end?)  So it's still in my cart, but perhaps someone who already has it installed can take a peek at it. Edit- I'm seeing all four walls listed as separate components- so what exactly do you mean by riggable? They should all be able to be hidden if listed separately.

I guess I'm just not seeing what you are. The only thing I see listed as a separate component is "Center Wall", which has its own DSF and UV file. I don't see any other wall listed in the file list. And that's more or less what I meant; if the walls are rigged -- that is, can be hidden with the eyeball rather than the surfaces tab/cutout opacity -- then they should have their own DSF in the file list.

It's weird; as far as I can tell, each door has its own DSF, and each room has one DSF, and whatever "center wall" is has its own DSF. But individual walls of the rooms may not be rigged so you can hide them.

@vwrangler  I'm looking at the wrong one, I'm on a different set (The Avril Master Bedroom one I also discussed.)  So I don't know about the walls. Sorry about that!

Okay, so I've loaded up the Artist Hideout and the ceiling and the walls are indeed all one piece. We've raised enough you-know-what about sets doing that and I'm not pleased about it. But I still really like the set because it gives you so much room for camera angles/interior shots and all doors and windows open/close and the blinds do too. Simply select the item in Scene then in Parameters they have sliders. Edit- I created a ceiling off/on using the Geometry Tool and it took about two minutes. But there's another one called ceiling in Surfaces so now I'm not sure what I did and what the vendor did :(  so take what I say with a grain of salt.  (In other words, there's more than one.)

The props are listed individually or small groups, so that is great, but that ceiling being part of the walls is NOT.

I did want to mention the Caribou, Mule Deer Buck, Antler Pack, Fallow Deer,  Whitetail Buck, Red Stag are at Rendo half price so I didn't get them from HW. One thing which stood out for me from the Commons thread, is that link to the HW post said  Ken hadn't stated where he was going. So I typed in Songbirds in my Product Library and found I didn't have Penguins. I think those are a later release from after he left here. I also don't have turtles, frogs, and a good lily pad (the ones here curl up, aka Tropical Pond)  and I want them to be flatter so the Water Lily Garden is looking good.

    Ken (at 2:49pm, today):

"I waited to chime in until now because I wasn't sure where I would go from the Hivewire store. I had a number of offers and even considered building my own store. It looking at pros and cons, one thing stood out. Renderosity has been a sponsor of my bird art contest for a number of years and that made them a good fit for me. After chatting with them, they've earned my trust and that's where I will become an Exclusive Vendor."

Now I don't have to go on a serious shopping spree.  I have thousands of points, but Rendo's 50% sales would make products I am interested in slightly cheaper to purchase there.  I did notice that Hivewire and CWRW are amongst those that do not participate with the coupons.

  • barbultbarbult Posts: 24,244

I just bought some stuff at Hivewire. That site is really slowwww, but at least the sales are simple and clear and perform as advertised. yes

I haven't purchased anything here except the freebies for several days. I'm looking forward to when the new store is working reliably and we can enjoy shopping again.

    No problem!

And yes, I really do like Tesla's stuff myself, these days. They had a rocky start -- there's a couple of European-style apartment sets I got that I didn't get to immediately, and when I discovered they were all one massive piece, it was too late to return them. But sometime after that, they posted in the forum that they simply didn't know that people didn't like unit sets like that, and ever since then, they've done fully rigged sets, and even shown completely exploded views in their promos. I have the Avil master bedroom and the balcony (it was a PC for the Day item, I think) and keep arguing with myself over the Avil entertainment room every time it goes on sale. I absolutely do not need it, I just kind of like it.

And I'm glad that you were able to evaluate the Artists Hideout room. It looks great, but I'm just not willing to deal with rooms with unrigged walls these days unless it's something that I desperately need and can't do without, and I haven't run into one of those in a while.

Has anyone tried Tropical Acacia Trees (https://www.daz3d.com/tropical-acacia-trees)  I am finding odd purple spots in the trees where it seems like the texture is missing or something.

@gitika1 I see these too.  They are the end of the branch but its not missing a texture so I don't know why they are purple like that.  I just replaced the base color map with the bark map and darkened the color just a bit.  definitely something strange going on there because what it shows when you hover for the branch end and the actual image is different.
