I've just posted a response in the Technical Help forum that might make a useful addition to the list of tips in this one. It's about using a weight map to control a D-Former, for times when you just can't get a sphere to do the job. Take a look:

Today I picked up Gorgon Hallway as one of my free items with the bundle. As I have been whittling down the items being offered by Daz to choose from, more items that I never paid attention to before have come to my attention. The hallway showed up for me a few bundles back, so I wish listed it. Loading it up, using the RSSY 3DL to Iray converter on it, then adding Wisteria Tunnel, an HDRI, High Peaks (I seem to use it all the time when I need a great background) and then I decided to add the king in there, AM's Felidae. An hour and a half rendering on the Iray catalyzer and stopped at 97%. I wanted to share the beauty that takes me back to when I lived in the suburbs of Athens Greece. You never knew when you would come across a ruin in the oddest place.

That's a really good combination of outdoor products :)  Greece has so much history/character, you are lucky to have that experience! How old were you at the time?

That's really lovely, @memcneil70  - the dappled light and shade under the wisteria is wonderful, especially across the lion's side and back.

    Thank you @Novica and @genaris.

I was stationed at Hellinikon AB from 1979 to 1982. A 26 - 30-year-old, single mother of a pre-schooler, and NCOIC of a 24/7 operation at one point. My son played on the Acropolis as a toddler, no clue about its history. We both loved the food. The Greek people were wonderful, and a chance to see the sites of the stories I loved as a child was a gift.

During my career I was stationed around the world, and I enjoyed getting to know the people from those countries who worked on our bases, heard their stories, ate with them, tried to learn their language (enough to not insult and to be polite and to get around), their history from their point of view, and their culture and arts. It is possibly the best way to learn about the world. A packaged tour group doesn't even get you close to the experience.

Hey look, I made a shirt from a sphere! I will earn no accolades for my tailoring skills but you should see what dForce does to it.

And speaking of marvelous, how about giving Carola O's gallery work a thumbs up. This is so pretty! Note she used Streets of the Wild West. Very clever.

Thank you @Novica. The fun thing is I have had Streets of Wild West a while, but not gotten around to use it. Until I was browsing through my library of items and decided to see if it could work :)

I had the Skies of Sylva already wishlisted when I went to check on what Carola O used in the background. Love it! I need to keep an eye out for it.

Well this is interesting. When I had to scrounge to find $60 of free DOs (almost impossible to get anything I want, only really old stuff exists, like for V3) I got the Sea Life Pack 2.  for the walrus.

If any of you got that Sea Life Pack 2  lately, you managed to get the Treasure Chest and Anchor which is now labeled "Inactive" in your product library. Have you ever seen things labeled like that before? Normally you click on it and there won't be a link to a product page (It will still show you the page on your right)  but this shows (Inactive) right beside the name of the product over on the left in Product Library. Seems strange it was pulled recently, like right after this other Pro Bundle, as that's when I got it. So it was in the bundle then, but not now (look at the product page.)  Maybe it was due to the upcoming pirate theme we now have.  Check and see what your Sea Life Pack 2 says in your product library, just for kicks. Is the treasure chest there?  They shouldn't be taking things out of bundles and not telling people. Or did they?

It was there May 21st in the Life Pack 2, I just checked the order date.
"The perfect background props for all your deep sea artwork. Includes a starfish prop, too!"  It's a chest, a starfish, and an anchor.

This is what my Product library looks like for Sea Life. I've had it for 4 years.

Isn't that weird? The thumbnails below show the treasure chest/anchor, but the list of things don't have it up there in the text.

Scuba Gear is also not listed up there but has a thrumbnail below. Sea Stuff is listed above. What is that? There is no Sea Stuff thumbnail.

Well, Scuba Gear was still included May 21st (literally yesterday except we just went past midnight, so technically two days ago now)   but doesn't show as being part of the product. What the heck is going on with this product?

Since I just bought it, let me show you what it looks like in the list to the left.

    • Treasure Chest & Anchor (Inactive)
    • Scuba Gear
    • Dogface Puffer Fish
    • Walrus
    • Sea Life Pack 2

LOL I don't know what "Sea Stuff" is either!

Sea Life Pack 1 has a bodyboard in it and it's also listed as inactive

Well, aren't I having an evening. I wanted to experiment with different lighting, and clicked on Dramatica Iray Lights and Settings. Not in the store anymore apparently. I bought it May 2018.

I have individually bought some of the products in both the Sea Life 1 & Sea Life 2 packs. I definately want them both but they are priced at DAZ Originals, even PA level prices but are more in tune age & quality wise as PC+ products so I keep buying something else, even when they drop down to less than $7, which they usually do 2 or 3 times a year.

Hmmm, I know too much about the DAZ 3D Store! laugh

I just picked up the Sea Life Pack 1 and the Scuba Gear for V2 is also inactive now, along with the Body Board. I still got a download of both, but had to make a copy of the Library page for my files.

You know why that's important? It just dawned on me-  whenever I get freebies, when I click on a bundle and it says  And You Own Them All-   that means MAYBE I DON'T.  What if there are products in the bundle which ARE there (aka show up in the Product Library) but are not shown on the bundle page?  Aka, that treasure chest, starfish, anchor  (one product) wasn't on the bundle page  but when I bought it a couple days ago, it is indeed in my Product Library.

I got to thinking and now think my original theory of them making a change between the day I bought it a few days ago, to the next day, is not plausible. In all likelihood, they wouldn't be messing with an old product and my timing being spot-on. This is nutso. Now I'll be doubting ever time I see an older bundle, what is really in it that I DON'T have.   See, I don't have the Sea Life 1 and didn't get it, because I Own Them All showed up. But I don't!  I don't have that bodyboard which Robert pointed out.   GRRRRRRR.

So what were some other bundles where they quietly pulled items out and didn't announce them? I do remember the Lisa's Botanicals product (or products) being pulled from bundles when she left. They didn't mention it, but astute forum members posted about it. Was it one with a big oak tree, which had her flowers? That's sticking in my mind, but it was years ago. So people getting bundles now, aren't getting what was in them when first released on several products. I don't think it happens very often, but I think they should put something of the same value back in the bundle. And obviously, get the bundle pages correct, showing all the products you DO get.

Ah, found one thread where the beanstalk from Lisa had been pulled,  "It was part of the Think Outside The Box # 2 bundle. And also the Fantasy Tales Bundle 2"  This is bringing back memories which aren't quite clear. What was it about the new database transfer referred to in that thread?

You might be surprised to see just how many inactive products are in your Product Library. I've seen that designation before, so I didn't think much of it.

One of the inactive products in my library is the Airport Island - Sea Base. I believe that comes with all of the Airport Island products and is not sold separately. In that case, having inactive in the name would tell any Daz staffer that the product should not be made live.

I also have several beta versions of products, (Decimator, Measure Metrics, etc.,) that show as inactive, but those show up in DIM with updates for each beta release of DS. Again, it looks like the inactive tag makes sure the product doesn't show up in the store live inadvertently.

I bought the first Sea Life Pack over a year ago, and I seem to recall being surprised by the bodyboard showing up in the Product Library. I have also purchased bundles from the early days of RDNA products in the store, that included products that could not be purchased separately in the store, although none of those where marked inactive.

My guess, then, is the products remain in the database, (otherwise they wouldn't be available for download in our Product Library,) and inactive is added to the product name to prevent a product from inadvertently showing up in the store. It wouldn't be necessary for products from inactive PAs. (Though that doesn't explain products that are inactive from current PAs but not marked that way… Just a tad confusing.)

Well, Gumgle (or something like that - the Lords of the Rings looking creature called Gollum) was pulled & Jonathan HD for Ollie 8 replaced it/him.
