My sister found a really, really good song for the virus- everyone is doing it to Islands in the Stream, and this one is really good. She also posted lyrics to a song  that I also shared. Have some fun- Check out my Facebook page.  Also, there's a cat freaking out that is just hilarious.

If you do a search in the Render Settings > Presets tab, you can find the Sun Dial node. I've added it to my Custom Actions, because DS does not make it easy to find. This little gizmo loads in World Center, and you can change the height, (Angle,) and location/rotation, (Azimuth) by selecting the Sun Chain, (I think. It's one of those bones closer to the "Sun".)

I did search for it, but did not find the Sun Dial node in the Render Settings/Presets.  Could it be a part of a product you own?

     Sorry, @gitika1 , I was doing that from memory…

    • Open the Render Settings Pane and click on the Presets tab.
    • In the left column, click on Default.
    • In the right column search field, type dial.
    • The Sun Dial Set should now show up in the right column, (and may well be the only preset to show up.)

The Sun Dial Set comes with the Default Resources for Daz Studio. There are other ways of using the sun, but I find the Sun Dial the easiest. YMMV.

I don't have any of Emma and Jordi's G8 Characters but I do have FW Dan Megapack for Michael 6. I  bought him ages ago - he's very versatile. This image shows his tattoo, but he also has a werewolf option The pack also includes dogtags, glasses and a wristwatch

    @L'Adair,

Thank you for the extra explanation. I had tried to find it myself yesterday and got an error message on one of my computers for that icon. Just found it on the laptop and it worked and with your other explanation about the chain, opening the 'Sun Dial' up in the Scene Pane until it showed up and selecting it, I found the movement controls you spoke about. With a cone in the scene I was able to see exactly what you were explaining. If I get through all my work today, I will have to test this out on a real render, or tomorrow as today is pretty full.

Again, thank you so much. Another mystery of DS revealed.

Has anyone tried the new ZEV0 Dial Control? https://www.daz3d.com/dial-control-for-genesis-to-genesis-8

Wondering if it adds that much to the option to show all used morphs. Always looking for "must-have" utilities, but can't figure out if this one would save enough trouble to be worth the price. Waffling over this, plus still waffling over Aubrey. I guess it's my week to waffle. Like the Aubrey character and poses. Hate all the clothing, except the Doctor Who / teampunk Victorian outfit. Would probably waffle less if it actually had a good deal on the freebies you can get with it.

Edit: Can't manage to spell Aubrey the same way twice.

I have it @firewarden, but not tried it yet. I just finished a render, and I am loading G8F and will test it out.

While I wait for G8F to load, this is my first 'Stay Home Spread Hope' render using UltraScenery, the AM Squirrel and HiveWire's Red Tail Hawk. This is two scenes on top of each other and I had to shrink it down from the original size to post it.

Wow! Just gorgeous! Makes me very glad that I grabbed all the Ultra Scenery products. I plan on totally changing a current project to build it around them.

    @firewarden, thanks!
So here is my test of Dial Control. I loaded G8F, and then played with three morph packages I had bought, then added morphs from characters, put her in hair and clothes, posed, then used skin from Miah and kept it simple. And then loaded Dial Control and not everything can be seen on my snip (too many things selected) but, it gives you an idea of what came into play to create what you see. Interesting, body morphs from charactes first, then the youth morph, clothing support, and then individual head bits. The indvidual morph packages were FSL Everyday People Shapes, SY Unusual Features for Genesis 8 Female, and Oodles of Faces Morphs for Genesis 8 Female(8)

Where I think this is valuable, is if you want to find what package, there is a little arrow next to the percent, click on that and you will be taken to the actual slider that controls it. Or if someone asks you what a mixture was for a morphed character that you created a year or so ago, load them up, run Dial Control, and it should give you the packages, percentages. Another idea is if you want to take that character and age them up or down, slightly, or otherwise change them, to add a sibling or child to a story, or another relation.

Depending on how much you morph characters and play around with them, will determine how valuable this tool is for you. I found it extremely easy to understand the use, and operate.

Very good info! I majorly morph many of the characters I use, so I think this would be really useful both in current projects and modifying old ones. I've struggled to find ways to leave enough notes so that I can remember everything I did when I come back to a project down the road.

    Thank you kindly!

    • Follow this link to your Product Library for the Daz Studio program.
    • Once the page has fully loaded, scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will see the resources file listed.
    • You can then download the file with the blue button and install manually or, theoretically, click on the green button to install using DIM.
    • If the product does not show up in DIM, try typing this filter into the search field: sku::13176
    • The product will show up in one of the three tabs.
      • If you don't see it, enable the Display Hidden options. There is one for both the Ready to Download and the Ready to Install tabs of the latest DIM. (You may have hidden it accidentally.) If Daz Studio is in your account, so is the resource file.
      • Download and Install if the file is in the Ready to Download tab.
      • Install if the file is in the Ready to Install tab.
      • If the file is listed on the Installed tab:
        • click on the Uninstall button. Once uninstalled, the file will show in the Ready to Install tab.
        • From the Ready to Install tab, click on the tiny arrow to the far right of the listing and select "Delete the Default Resources for DAZ Studio 4.9+ …" Once DIM has deleted the file and synced with the server, the file should now show up in the Ready to Download tab.
        • Make sure the "Install After Download" option at the bottom of the tab is enabled, and click on the Download button for this file.

Let me know if this doesn't resolve the problem for you. If you can't find the file in DIM with these instructions, there is a workaround. I'll walk you through it, if it comes to that.

Thanks!  Oddly enough, the default resources were installed.  A fresh installed did the trick.

@L'Adair, I have more thanks to you. While I tried to use your directions on my desktop, I was unable to. I then followed your additional instructions to download a fresh copy of Default Resources to my desktop computer and still it did not work. Opened my laptop where it did work, and I found the paths were different. Investigating, I found the desktop, which I had tried the Beta DazCentral on, and then uninstalled it. Apparently, it added C: paths to not only DIM but also to DS Content Directory Manager. I fixed my CDM and the saved everything, opened DIM and uninstalled DS and all its support programs, and Default Resources, then loaded them again, first DS, then the others. And still, a C: path got in there again! I think I have it all out, but the only way I can access the sun dial is to click on the file path in the info box below the icon in Smart Content.

So, you helped me find more tentacles left by that program, which I thank you. And now I have both computers able to use Sun Dial. :-)

I'm glad you found the information helpful. I looked at what the new Daz Central was supposed to accomplish and immediately decided to stay away from it. I totally "get" DIM, and I'm in control of it, not the other way around. I want my utilities smarter, not "central"…
    wink

With everything I've read since, I'm really glad I shied away from it.

Now, on the other hand, if you ever need help with DIM, don't hesitate to ask.

Sometimes my head is not in the game for sales at Daz.  Fortunately, I didn't miss the possibility of this last one.  There has been so little that has grabbed my attention in the last couple of months that a GC never crossed my mind. cheeky

Well, you're one of the lucky ones if you got your gift card code. So many of us didn't. And I still haven't. It just hurts their sales when folks can't use their gift cards.

Yeh, I haven't gotten mine either. Definitely not happy and not much interested in buying anything until I do get the card. I filed a complaint last evening but no response so far, except the automated acknowledgement.

If you want anything from today's sale, here's what I'd do-

Take a screenshot of the promo banner
Take a screenshot of the gallery page of products in that sale.
Put what you want in your cart, screenshot it- get the final price.
When you get your gift card, submit that to Sales and tell them you want that deducted from your gift card balance, and the products put in your account. They are very good at working with people. If they aren't willing to do this, I'd be surprised.  I personally am NOT going to buy things and take that money out of my pocket, to be reimbursed later. Not when they're slow as turtles.

It's very disappointing when you buy a gift card to use in a sale and can't get the code, I sympathize with your situation.  It must only be affecting certain areaas tho as I bought a gift card last night and my code was in  my email almost immediately. first one I have bought in months and I only got it for the 30% off I didn't even plan on buying anything right away as I have far too many items already that I have never even looked at once they were jpurchased.  I am working on trying out all my other purchases before anything new.

True; But it is still discouraging when youspend a lot of money and have nothing to show for it -- Makes me feel like not buying anything else.

If Daz hasn't already provided them what they need to work from home, that's on THEM and it shouldn't be on US, they've literally had months now to prepare for the virus situation. Also a reminder-  things get fixed when reported on the sales thread, and mods report it to help fix it or remove it. Working from home isn't new, they've already provided the technology for website issues.  Granted, working on web issues is different than getting into people's accounts, but again, DAZ is responsible for getting that technology to them. This virus has been around now for months and not going anywhere anytime soon. They  have to get with the program.
