DAZ's 3Delight...Does it support Hyper-Threading?

Hi, I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong section, but I'm still a beginner with daz so I feel like this is where I should post.

I'm going to be upgrading my cpu solely for the purpose of faster rendering (I'm not a gamer and apart from DAZ the most processor intensive thing I do is listen to music)

I'd like to know if its worth the extra money spent on a CPU with Hyper-Threading vs one without, so does anyone know if the version of 3delight DAZ 4.6 uses will take advantage of this feature?

    At this time I'm running an i7 Hex and DAZ Studio will and does use all 12 threads for rendering.

    I currently have a 2 core i3 4130, does that mean I'm allowed to hate both of you a little? (kidding) I'm upgrading to an i7 4770 soon (fastest cpu supported by my current motherboard) looking forward to seeing how the rendertime is affected

    I think it's the same as yours, I am totally lost about what are cores, what is hyper-threading on CPUs nowadays ... gimme a good ol' 4.77MHz 8086 ... ;) I suspect it's a 6 core, hyper-threaded beastie.

    And here is the official word on the matter, direct from the 3Delight FAQ...

    10. How are the number of cores counted in relation to the number of CPUs?

    3Delight only looks at the total number of cores on a given computer. It means a computer with two dual-core CPUs will look the same as a computer with a single quad-core CPU: a computer with a total of 4 cores.

    11. How does 3Delight take into account for hyper-threading?

    3Delight does not look specifically if hyper-threading is enabled or not. It only asks the computer how many cores are available. It means on a quad-core computer, if the user has NOT enabled hyper-threading, 3Delight will be told there are 4 cores available and if the user has enabled hyper-threading, 3Delight will be told there are 8 cores available (even if only 4 cores are "real" and the 4 additional cores are "virtual" cores).

    And since Studio is basically unlocked, it will take as many as you can throw at it...

    Wish I had a Hex core, but I can attest to my fully hyper-threaded Quad core i7 rendering any scene I throw at it, utilizing at least one whole core without as much as a hiccup.

    LOL!! So close. Her name is Frankie which is the Feminine version of Frank-N-Box. She is a custom Build just to my spec's. Now if I had MORE cash she would rival the Totte monster machine... Maybe next year.

    My new MacPro won't show up until late april, will only be dual quadcore Xeons (will have he other machines still though, but dual Firepro D700 so I can finally render with Luxus in OpenCL mode. And Jaderail, to quote Pete "I hate you in the best possible way" ;-)

    I don't hate anyone. I'm GREEEEEN with envy, but I don't hate anyone. Of course I see everything and everyone in green (sorry Jade, you do look better in blue), but I don't HATE anyone. ~shakes head no~

    I would love an itel system that is capable of 12 core. At least I've never seen one. That don't mean they don't exist. I always thought macs were the power house of processing power but still prefer my i7 6-core hyperthread. I would love to get my hands on Jaderail's PC. I was drooling when I was trying to figure it out. I'm gonna ubild me wife one similar but with only 32GB of RAM. Can't let her have more RAM than me.

    My HATE is 100% pure envy nothing more... Hides other Sharp pointy things... I would never ever think of hurting my friends in any way... Do these people know what a Drow is? I'm just the Friendly blue helpy guy... blood, murder, redrum, suppress those natural urges you fool... We Drow are NICE people really. All those rumors about us being a cold blooded murderous people are just spread by those that want to see us fail... at taking over the realms and enslaving you all... So I just wish to point out I do not HATE anyone... It's not in my nature at all.

    That's Right folks the Great and Powerful Frank was he who designed my Frankie for me.. the only possible way to build better IMHO would have been well out of my price range... Think GOD BOX Frank I have been...

    Jad so true now that I have 4 cores I can still wait 12 hours for a render if not more with doing more advanced stuff....but for me I am just loving what I can do that I couldn't do before.

    Just rendering an image for my story (Miriel surfing the enchanted stream on a shield, you know Elves are such show-offs). 848x1200 / SR:0.3, at 37% for 45 minutes, so it can take a long time even with many cores.

    And I cheat, I don't by my machines privately, they are my development boxes happily paid for by my company ;-)
