I have a question.. which may have been answered earlier in the thread but I honestly wasn't able to read through all of the pages (sorry :) ). I am on a 8 gb ram computer, with a GeForce GT 730 nvidia card. Will that be able to handle this this product?

It should be OK, I render on an old Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM and no nVidia card so it's all CPU. Daz Studio usually tops out at less then 4GB RAM used during render.

I saw new pines product. Jumped for joy. Saw requirement of non sale product. Sat back down. It's going into wait pile.

UltraScenery - Pines has been released... unfortunately the store page is currently showing "Mossy Hollow Botanica" as a required product and that is incorrect. The set requires "Nature Trees Pack 4" by Andrey Pestryakov.

Will post this on the front page of this thread until it is fixed.

Glad, that you have mentioned works with Nature Trees Pack 4 previously,

so I have had enough time to grab it, while on sale.

Now the Pines extension looks like a must for me.

    Just one small request:

Could you please create "No features" preset with the water.

It will simplify making UltraScenery with custom height maps.

I have tried solution posted by Barbult - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/408551/ultrascenery-experiments-and-experiences#latest

and suggested by TangoAlpha, but could not get it to work.

Hope that you could consider such feature in your future updates.

I felt this too, a pine add on was something I wanted, but an extra 20$ is quite a price booster. I am surprised they did not put the required item into the related items sale.

I bought the pines set at 7:50 am (United Kingdom time) this morning.  Unfortunately, it will probably be the weekend before I can properly do battle with it.

At the rate Howie and Tim are bringing out extensions for this set, I'm going to need a hard disk just for their stuff!

    Cheers,

    Alex.

P.S. I've just worked out, with the aid of my poor man's Cray, there are now 748 possible combinations of terrains and ecologies!

Their downloads are not that large - compare it to Now-Crowd Billboards - 182 GB.

Be still my Alpine heart.  Man, I've been WAITING for something like this for over a decade now!  I grew up in the Pacific Northwest (North Idaho, USA) and have lived a lot of places all over the world, but always missed the pine forests. THANK YOU!!!

First render, of MANY to come.

Yes, @Gogger, thanks for posting that great pine forest image! I'm eager to see your "MANY to come". Post them all!

I'm so glad that Howie Farkes gave us a heads up on the future (now released) Pines ecology, so that I bought the pines when they were on sale at the time. They render beautifully.

It's great that you are including other artist's products! I have a bunch from MartinJFrost, so hopefully you'll consider a set with his in mind. smiley

Cos it's still flagged as "New". New products won't/can't go back on sale until after the new period is over (or why would you buy when they first come out?). It's bound to go on sale at some time down the road though, but if you can't wait till then, I'm sure Andrey will appreciate a little boost :)

I saw an addon for UltraScenery and in the cart it went. Checked out with it, too, even though I don't have the pines yet. I'll get them soon enough. In the meantime, more addons, please.
    smiley

I second the suggestion for using plants from MartinJFrost. A significant number of those have been weekly freebies, too, so a lot of us will already have them. Not sure how that would fit into the Addon format, but there are a lot of woodland flowers from him that would fit right in with these ecologies.

I used MartinJFrost palms in my tropical ecology (when I edited the JSON). His plants are beautiful and varied, but he makes heavy use of displacement and surface subdivision, which is a killer for my graphics card. I have to set displacement to 0 to counteract that.

Some promos show a mix of trees.  Can we do that  now?

Some of the ecologies in this pack also make use of the trees that come with the UltraScenery base product - that's why there are mixed species.

Ugh. I bought Pines and have been fighting with it to make it render. At first I thought it was my render settings. Then I thought I was out of memory. Now I see why it isn't working for me.

Unfortunately I missed that Pines intro by a day, but I'll get the latest add-on anyway and wait to use it... the Pines set should be out of "new" status by the end if the month and I'm hoping there'll be a multi-PA catchup then!

You won't be disappointed! The pines work great with UltraScenery.

    Different issue...

Prior to the last update I was able to render extremely fast. Everything fit into my video card memory and the render zipped along. Today I am unable to render even the simpest scene created with the script:

2020-06-16 16:23:49.211 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.4   IRAY   rend progr: CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER): Processing scene...

    2020-06-16 16:23:49.319 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.0   IRAY   rend info : CPU: using 16 cores for rendering

The requested memory size seems abnormally large. 11,815,847,772 bytes? The test scene I generated was just a simple empty Grassland ecology...  Previously I could render a full up scene with no issues.

EDIT...  Disregard. Now it is working. Another reboot resolved things, even though I had rebooted a couple of times already. Even the memory use seems to have resolved:

    2020-06-16 16:55:04.425 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.7   IRAY   rend info : CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER): Scene processed in 0.898s

2020-06-16 16:55:04.431 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.7   IRAY   rend info : CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER): Allocated 1.688 GiB of work space (2048k active samples in 0.000s)
2020-06-16 16:55:04.431 Iray [INFO] - IRAY:RENDER ::   1.7   IRAY   rend info : CUDA device 0 (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER): Used for display, optimizing for interactive usage (performance could be sacrificed)

I rerendered the fishing scene with Pines 1 and Pines 2, to see how the different ecologies affected the scene.

Did you buy the required product (the pine trees themselves, Nature Tree Pack 4)?

Howie mentioned the product page lists the wrong required product. Here it is from the first post:

    "*** UltraScenery - Pines ***

UltraScenery - Pines has been released... unfortunately the store page is currently showing 'Mossy Hollow Botanica' as a required product and that is incorrect. The set requires 'Nature Trees Pack 4' by Andrey Pestryakov."
