Garibaldi hair seems to need less RAM. I made a lion mane for a sabretooth cat with Garibaldi hair,  on a 4 years old PC with 8 GB RAM, it renders in about 15 Minutes, Book Cover (3000 pixel on the small side)..

Manes are not very large......full body hair covering is

(also...dHair is made from Garibaldi..DAZ bought it and made more out of it)

  • Does this have been tested on 4.10? I purchased this a few weeks back but the fur is not loading properly

There should be no problems, if you run into anything please contact DAZ right away.

I also can't render the Snow Beast. It uses all 32 GB RAM and extended RAM. Machine Slows down Render 0% after 30 Minutes. Grafik: Geforce GTX 1070.

So what is the solution? Can you post the best way. Thanx

The only suggestion I can give is to lower the "Additional PR Hairs Density (cm^2)" to a lower density until it works for you.

The fur may not cover as nice though, but it should ease things up.

For a more detailed solution, you would have to talk to DAZ, maybe their techies have other ideas

(I should note that product was made on my old 10yr old computer, so if that one could render it, most computers should have no problem)

It's a while since I worked with Snow Beast. But at the moment I create a Scene with Snow Beast and Bear Clan. Just to recognize that I still have the same Problems.

So I upgraded the RAM from 32 GB to 64 GB and the GPU from 8 GB to 12 GB.

But still the same problems. The Characters use alle the RAM and if it starts to render (which happened bei 1 from 3 attempts) it falls back to CPU and needs Hours.

So is there anyone who doesn't have this Problems? If Yes: it would be nice to get your Render Settings etc.

You can lower the density on the hairs till you find a level that works for your system

  • I don't get it. Works great with the default render settings on mine.

@AgitatedRiot - Thanks. Your log shows that the scene also needed >32 GB RAM.

@RawArt: is that normal or not? (NS: I have a lot of your characters and most work fine "out of the box")

  • The ScreenShot of the GPU-Z shows it only used 14920MB of system memory and 6457MB of VRAM. However, the logs do show 32 MiB being allocated for the task.

Not sure what is "Normal"....I try to make my characters as system friendly as possible, but everyone has different systems, so there are bound to be times when things wont work as well for some people. There really is no "normal", there is just finding a balance between what looks good in a render and what is easy on different systems.

Generally a full body fur is going to be heavier on system usage, but I tend to throw in alot of tricks to lighten the load, so they should be fine for most....but if not, then lowering the hair density is the easiest way to reduse the requirements.

As suggested I reduced the Hair Density from 2 down to 1:

RAM Usage with that 32,9 GB before 64 GB

Render with the RTX 3060 uses 6,7 from 12 GB - before > 12 GB and CPU Fallback.

Unhappily the result does not really satisfy me. Maybe I start some more experiments, when I have more Time.

Could you be so kind and make a screnshot of the "hair" settings. Because that looks much better then my renders. Looks like I changed the wrong parameters.

  • The hair is set at 50 density and the render before was the default load out of Snowbeast, and the render setting was default setttings.

Is that the Density (GSM) Parameter in your Screenshot?

  • Yes, but it didn't like 500 so I went with 50.

Here is where you can lower the density

since the forum wont let me post a screen capture...in your surfaces tab, select all the fur surfaces and scroll down to "Additional PR Hairs Density (cm^2)"   in the purple dials.....you will see 50 as the value, make it something lower till you find a setting that works for you

Works fine with the Bear Clan. Still trying to find good parameters for the Snow Beast. I will report the Parameters. But this will take a while.
