Who Are Your Favorite Render Artists?

Hi everyone! :D

I love to watch art, both for an aesthetic purpose and to learn observing!

So, I was wondering: do you have any great artist to suggest me on DeviantArt?

For example, I like these artists I've found (not a classification):

New favorite, discovered thanks to you (not a classification):

If you're interested, these are my favorite renders in particular: https://www.deviantart.com/tgfan4/favourites/79083166/This-Is-Awesome-Art

So, you don't have any favorite artist? xD

  • SixDsSixDs Posts: 2,384

One possible reason why some may be reluctant to respond is because singling out one amongst many deserving individuals is difficult and implies some sort of order. In fact the term favourite itself is defined in the Oxford dictionary as "preferred to all others of the same kind". So technically, there can be only one favourite. For myself, there are many things I like, and many I do not like so much, but ranking them is difficult and subjective, and something I am not altogether comfortable with. So, if I were going to make a list, it would need to be very long and comprehensive, and need to include some discussion of why to have any real meaning.

I realize that it was not your intent to compile anything exclusive, but that nevertheless tends to be the result. At the risk of being presumptuous, I would be more comfortable with something along the lines of "here are some people whose work I have found and admire, does anyone have any suggestions for others that I might want to familiarize myself with?".

There can be more than one favorite, even hundreds of them!

Indeed, the ones I've linked (specifying that this is not a classification) are the ones I know and I prefer. I can't prefer them over someone I don't even know, that's why I'd like to know more artists! :D
It's not to offend anyone, but I've seen many galleries I don't like at all, and so yes, I prefer some artists over others!

It's perfectly fine if you want to make a list of people you admire!
I guess you agree with me that that sentence is too long to be an actual title ^^

Thank you, a great artist! I'm browsing his/her gallery!! :D

Okay then, here is one that you may wish to have a look at:

    https://www.deviantart.com/laticis

He hasn't been terribly active recently, but he has some interesting renders in his gallery, and a large number of rather useful freebies available as well. Definitely worth a look.

Honestly, using professional 3D models made by many professionals and two styles of professional 3D renderers means almost everyone is producing technically nice renders that I like were that to be my only criteria. If isn't, but I still don't have a favorite because no one really produces the type of render all the time I find interesting. LOL, I can't even make renders I find interesting most of the time despite all these expensive professional tools and models I have and the ability to choose my own subject matter for the renders; that I'd expect someone else to isn't that reasonable an expectation. If I had to choose one though, I think SereneNight's renders in her thread come closest to being consistently my favorites although there are individual renders by a smattering of different artists that I've liked better on a one off basis. Most of SereneNight's renders are 'normal' people doing normal things (well they are some sort of bionics). The written story she makes up for them when asked are really well written too.

I just sort of browse SereneNight's thread, the DAZ Galleries for everyone else and that's it. I don't really like browsing threads in the Art Studio forum because the images are so slow to load and then I'd have to remember which threads I've viewed & which not. In contrast the DAZ Gallery is comparitively fast to load although you can't favorite individual artists' galleries there. As far as browsing DeviantArt or other places for art I don't. Most of what I've seen there are tutorials and freebies. I understand a lot of the art there can be very deviant so it's not really my cup of tea then anyway.

Indeed I remember seeing some renders from IceDragonArt on this forum, and they were amazing, but then I forgot who he was!
That's one of the reasons why I like DeviantArt: there I have my favorite folder and I can find artists back when I want to!! :D

    Thank you for sharing!

Do they have a DA account?

I'll check SereneNight out, thanks! ^^

I don't know what you're thinking, but NSFW content is just around 5% of DeviantArt. It's the historical hub for art of all kinds.

Then, a great technique is the base for everything, but who cares if a perfect render doesn't give you any emotion? I think "artist" is a complete differente term.
I see models like colors: you want to do your own colors? One more thing you're great about then, but that's not what I care about the most.

Wow, I'm feeling very honored to make the list!  (although I am a girl lol).  I have a long list of people I follow over there as well, as soon as I have a decent break I will add some links as well.

Oh gosh! There are so many outstanding render artists, so being able to list all the ones that I really like would take multiple posts and take ages to list them all. I'll take a crack at posting a few of the ones that I watch (though this is by no means a complete list of my favorites, also these are not listed in any particular order):

    Ikke46: https://www.deviantart.com/ikke46/gallery/

    DeathbyCanon: https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/users/110435/

    DrawElfMorwen: https://www.deviantart.com/drowelfmorwen/gallery/

    kmcbriarty: https://www.deviantart.com/kmcbriarty/gallery/

    KarismaCGArt: https://www.deviantart.com/karismacgart/gallery/

Algovincian: Some of his renders can be found here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/324736/algovincian-non-photorealistic-rendering-npr-2019#latest and Here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/68493/algovincian-non-photorealistic-rendering-npr/p1

    VAlzheimer: https://www.deviantart.com/valzheimer/gallery/

(Not Safe For Work) BestmanPi: https://www.deviantart.com/bestmanpi/gallery/

Those are just a few. There are a lot more great render artists that I'd love to add to the list, but the list will just get massive if I don't stop. lol

    As for my faves...

    Madaigual: https://www.deviantart.com/madaigual (NSFW)

'Vadrus' on Renderosity. I won't link to his gallery as it's rare for his figures to be wearing anything. He's aiming for photorealism and is slowly getting there, playing with & tweaking the skin shaders to get them right. Having just this morning seen the shader builder spaggetti for the dzDimpleSkinShader supplied with DS4.10 I am more than a little impressed that anyone can follow it, let alone tweak sensibly.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Or if they use some particular light sets. Those lights are fantascientific for me!

I know that VALzheimer uses Octane and she's created a light set that she sells here.  I have a feeling a lot of them use Octane and create their own lights.  And a lot of them are very good with Photoshop.

About half of my renders are Iray still, although I do use Octane often, simply because it's faster on my machine and can take mor egeometry like cat fur :) For an example image linked here (which is one of my favorites too, so thank you ^^) is made with Octane, but lots of my recent ones are Iray. I usually leave that info in description of every image everywhere I post :)
