  • Loaded up V1.5 on my machine last night and had a bit of a play, trying to use the new sculpt 'smooth' tool to get something I wanted to see. Mostly achieved complete nonsense, but that's by-the-by. The new jungle trees option was a nice surprise producing a mixed forest as you painted, and it was nice to see a few cats as well as the other new creatures in addition to the V1.4 ones. Not convinced by the waterfalls. Took me ages to find the new 'PixelForestGames' save file location so I could copy across all the saved versions. I was simply not expecting it to be immediately below 'PixelForest' in the directory tree.

  • There are some amazing images on the Reddit FlowScape page which can be seen here: https://www.reddit.com/r/FlowScape/

There is one that left me totally awestruck that it was possible to create in the tool we have. That image is here: https://i.redd.it/pw47r8f60hh31.jpg . It is the sort of image that needs a couple of tiny figures in the centre foreground to round it off, but otherwise.. Just stunned.

I picked up this software through STEAM for a mere $17 something.  It's certainly a game changer.  It's built on top of the Unity Game Engine.  Very intuitive.

@richardxxxxx : You're right ! Wonderful pictures on Reddit Flowscape. Very inspiring !

@FirstBastion : Thanks for your comments. Why to buy $17 on Steam if $10 (+VAT) on creator's website ?

Cool backdrops for Daz renders, no ?

If someone already has an account on Steam,  its quick and easy,  and you don't have to give your credit card to purchase. The money still goes to PixelForest.

  • I got FlowScape in the UK, went for $11 + $2 VAT from Itch paying Paypal. Ended up costing me £11.42p. Current Steam price is £11.39p. Not a lot of difference in it...

Plus I should mention the $17 is Canadian dollars, which is around $13 US.  And worth every penny/cent.

Ah ? OK ! Canadian dollars !!! wink

    In France it was $10$ + $2 VAT = $12 <=> 11,22 euros !

  • Looks good, 6R.

I wonder if someone could point me where Ansel might save it's files. I have just put in a new (to me) GTX 1060 graphics card, and Ansel seems to have been installed at the same time as the drivers. So, I thought I'd try to create an HDR with it. But I can't find the file. Does anyone have any idea where I should look? I'm on a Win 7 PC.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Hi, for me the files was in the same place, where FlowScape was installed.

I have read somewhere, that Ansel require GeForce Experience to be installed,

but I have used it without and got the screenshots.

Maybe with GeForce Experience one could get .EXR files, that are not all black.

I installed the Geforce Experience. The file I was expecting wasn't there. Ah well. Doesn't really matter. Can't get on the machine to look again, currently I have a daughter putting 4 elephants on the back of a huge turtle, is bemoaning the lack of a ready made disc and needs to decide where to put the fifth elephant. You may gather that she reads Terry Pratchett.

    Richard.

Check your Videos folder, there should be a Flowscape folder in there where Ansel saves all your captures. However, the resulting .exr files are still black unfortunately.

  • Yep, finally found them, and they are all black. Was hoping that v1.5 had fixed this. I knew v1.4 was a problem.

    Richard.
