You Should have 3 folders for content.

Content (This is the DS3 default folder)
My Library (This is the DS4 default folder)
My DAZ 3D Library (This is the DIM default folder)

All three should STAY sep and NOT be inside another folder. The Content folder in a DS4 zip is NOT needed by anything except DIM. You put the folders inside the DIM>Content Folder in My DAZ 3D Library Folder. Then in DS you list like this

    DAZ Studio formats>
    FULL PATH BY ITSELF/Content
    FULL PATH BY ITSELF/My Library
FULL PATH BY ITSELF/My DAZ 3D Library
    Poser Formats>
    FULL PATH BY ITSELF/Content
    FULL PATH BY ITSELF/My Library
FULL PATH BY ITSELF/My DAZ 3D Library

Full path being like your C:Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library.. NO Content folder can be IN another.

WOW 7 users logged on .....guess I will give up..........................................................

Yes weekends can be very quiet. It's actually 7 + whoever is logged on as an anonymous user, but still not that many.

Jeff has been awake all night so has now retired to sleep the day away. Neil is a bit tied up with other stuff, but I will see if I can give him a nudge.

I think we need to start again

Do you have a any other drives on your computer apart from the C drive that you have room to install Daz studio and the content on.

I would suggest that you uninstall Daz studio and DIM and delete the my library folder so that we can start again from scratch.

when reinstalling DAZ studio download the EXE from your product library so that you can do a custom install and set the path for the install and the location of the content.

Now I personally don't install these programs to my C:\ drive I put them on my D:\ Drive as in D:\DAZ\DAZStudio4
for my content folder I have that going to D:\DAZ\DAZStudio4\content just to keep it all together. You don't need to do the same but you need to put yours in a place you are happy with.

The poser runtime with be inside this content folder.

then you will need to reinstall DIM I have my DIM download folder set up on my F:\ drive as in F:\Incoming\Poser DAZ files\DIM (I can have weird fill paths) you may just want to keep yours to Drive letter:\DIM ( you may need to create this folder yourself and point DIM towards it).

when you set up DIM you have to make sure that
    1) It knows the path that you have installed DAZ Studio to is set up correctly and that is in the applications tab. if its not showing the correct path change it.
    2) under installations it is showing the same path that you decided to install your Content to for me that's D:\DAZ\DAZStudio4\content but for you it will be for what ever path you set up during installation.
    3) Under downloads change Download To to your now folder (if you decided to change it) and select the type of content you wish to see,

To check if this is all working correctly I would suggest only downloading the 2 Genesis essentials packs just to give a little bit of content in DAZ studio.

In DAZStudio make sure in the Content Directory Manager that under both the DAZ Studio Formats and Poser formats it is pointing to the same path the one you set up during install.

Now you just need to check if everything is working.

Trish I wish I could help but as I'm in the middle of setting up a new PC I can not do Images right now. No PSP or PS installed yet.

That is a Default DAZ Studio Install. DAZ Studio Automatically creates the C:USER NAME/My Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library folder. The DIM when Installed AT default setting will make another folder and it will be C:Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library. The DEFAULT DIM is All I used in DS4.6. I let DIM install all as it wanted to WITHOUT changing a thing in DIM. That put ALL my content in the My DAZ 3D Library folder. All I did was POINT the DAZ Studio paths to that Folder. And ONLY to that folder. I never Touched anything except that until after I learned how DIM worked.

Use DIM at Default, Use DIM to install all content at Default. Point DAZ Studio to ONLY that folder as DAZ Studio Format and as POSER Format. That is this just like this and ALL I did to install to DS4.6 or DS4.5. I install ALL plugins BY hand not with DIM.

One thing doesn't look right to me... on your DIM Installation tab, under "64 Bit Software," the path should probably be "C:/Program Files." At least, that's what it is on mine. Everything else looks correct.

In the DAZ Studio software (once it's installed), when you go to the Content Directory Manager, it should look like Jaderail's most recent screenshot. If yours looks different, post a screenshot of that too.

That's where mine is as well: C:\Program Files\ for the 64bit programs.

    Screenshot

    DIM is on the left
DS Content Directory Manager is on the right
The red lines I added to show that the address of "My DAZ 3D Library" is the same in both places.

    Notes:

    1. this was done on my secondary computer, which still has DS4.5 (I haven't installed DS 4.6 on it)

    2. Also, as you can see I have DIM and DS open at the same time here. From what I've heard, it's actually recommended that you not do this. I believe this is because there's a risk that the database will become corrupted. If I were using my primary computer I would be more careful. ;-)

    3. As you can see, I have other directories listed in the Content Directory Manager. It's fine if you do, also fine if you don't. The important thing (if you're using DIM) is that the DIM install location is listed there.

Lass, you are making this harder than it really is. There really is no right or wrong location, it is just a matter of setting up Studio's Content Directory Manager to see the location. The default paths are just arbitrary locations DAZ picked based on generally accepted guidelines for the Operating System of the computer. First DIM, the Download and Installation folders are fine. The 64 Bit Software slot is for programs not content therefore should not be pointing to your content folder location but to C:/Program Files. Of course that is assuming you want your programs in the Program Files folder, ever since MS added UAC to their OSes I have preferred to not install to Program Files whenever possible. All my 3D programs, content, and personal files are in sub-folders under C:/3D. Now Studio, I don't recall what content is installed with Studio but if you want one unified library you should un-install then re-install Studio and change the default for Content Directory to be the DIM content path. Because un-installing Studio doesn't un-install content you will still have the 'trish1' library, don't delete it but do delete everything that is in its "My Library" folder. Use the 'trish1' library for saving your personal files you create with Studio, this way if you ever feel the need to re-organize and start over with your content library you won't loose your personal files.

That all looks fine to me, I think. I don't have the InstallManagerFileRegister file at that location (in your last sceenshot), but since everything else you have looks okay, I don't think that's necessarily a problem (might just be an artifact of your previous attempt at installation?)

To be on the safe side though, can you open up your My Library folder and show a screenshot of that also, in order to make sure you don't still have nested content directories?

From what I can tell, I think you're good to go with DIM. :)

If you want to have access to those scripts, you'll need to add the "My Library" directory to the Content Directory Manager in addition to the "My DAZ 3D Library" one (similarly to how mine is set up...see my screenshot).

I may not have a chance to get back on for a while...my three young kids are all awake from their naps... Good luck, I'll check back in later tonight.

Open DS a go to the Genesis Figure in the Content. Right click the Icon and DO browse to FILE location.
That will show the NEW file path for the My DAZ 3D Library you now use.

Go to the Edit Menu and in Pref's in the START section LOAD File needs to Point to the New Genisis.duf. Just browse to the one you JUST saw.
