Hmmm .... Look at my Hair AFAIK works fine with 4.5. They update most if not all product pages to reflect the most recent release of D/S.
A new release of 4.6.1.something is expected out in a few weeks so before going to all the trouble of installing 4.6.0.something, "might" want to wait.
If you Hand Install DS4.6 from the Downloadable exe it will Uninstall DS4.5 For you AND keep all your settings from DS4.5 for you. As for your Content is anyplace I'm lost as DIM installs to its Default My DAZ 3D Library in the proper file structure for content to work unless you have changed it yourself.
Just checked the page and yes it'll work with Studio 4.5.1.6 or higher. AND it's on sale today at 50%off!
Patience55; I can't get the hair player to install it sent me an error report and I sent that to daz...Yes I bought it...Happy about the sale
Jaderail; yes I am a dummy ....(I know) I got confused reading all the posts and here is a screen shot I don't think this is right????? There seams to be stuff in two different places c users public documents and the one it installs to has all of these files should it be putting these here???
Ah. That is a bit of a Mess. What you have done is Change the Downloads path to your Content path. The proper Downloads path was correct when it said C:/Users/Public/Documents/DAZ 3D/InstallManager/Downloads. That would HOLD the zip files, until you Installed them. You now just have the ZIPS in your Content. This is the Path you needed to Change to YOUR My Library Folder. And that should be all you changed.
Jaderail; ok I am double checking to see if I understand this correctly...under downloads tab...I type c users public doc daz3d install manager downloads
and under installation is where ...c users my name doc daz3d studio my library goes have I understood you correctly?? What about poser stuff what do I need to put for that???...I never set that part up?? another dumb question do I now need to go move all of the folders to the corrected paths??? I promise when I get this fixed I will stay away from the buttons.....Trish Oh and if I haven't told you thanks a million times
You are correct. The poser stuff for DAZ will all go in the Right place, DIM does that. Be sure to USE DIM to install for the BEST results. You are very close now.
To Put your Trish My Libray in click the Little PLUS in my image ADD your Path and then use the little MINUS to remove the other one. You will get a Popup saying this folder has Content Blah blah just Ignore it. Everything will still install.
jaderail this is what it looks like now....When I click the + button I get this pop up......(confused on this part???)) ok wait I just re read what you wrote....Hold on a sec ok now this is it??? it has a bunch of updates listed am I good now???? One more question please what do I do about Daz 4.6????
Any Name Only DIM sees it.
ok check it now am I good??? we were cross typing it is above....... what about Daz 4.6???? If you could please...help me with that I promise not to bother you for a couple of days I will be playing with my real hair purchase
With the content tab selected click on the Display Active Panel Options button (looks like four lines with a little triangle) select the the Content Directory Manager and clack the Arrow(triangle) next to DAZ Studio Formats and make sure you have the same path set up as you do in DIM for you content.
if you don't select new and add it.
here is mine you may notice I don't use the my documents option as it does not matter where you have the content folders as long as they are mapped the same in DIM for downloading and DAZStudio for accessing.
Neil ; Where did you get that screen from ....(lost again) how did you get to the content directory manager??? Nice web site by the way and cool renders
thank you
Make sure you have the content library tab selected
click on the Display Active Panel Options button.
then select the Content Directory Manager option
Ok Neil I found it and it does not look the same to me and why are there 3 paths........and in picture 2 that's maybe why this came up I am just guessing here....?? So I just add the new path or do I need to delete the others?? I appreciate the help you would think after all this time I would know something about Studio but I always use Bryce.....
Here is what I have now it still can not find the above content and most of my smart content pictures are gone ....What am I doing wrong????
Heres what happened when I tried to load the new hair purchased it said I was missing data.......Please Help
I hate this reliance of having content in the documents folder:
remember the image with 3 different paths in it it looks like the top path of those 3 was the correct one
failing that I would like to see a screenshot of the folder that the content is in so I can see the actual path to map
It shouldn't be necessary to have content in Documents - I don't - as long as the paths are set correctly.
I don't ether, but poor bullit35744 is having to many problems for me to even suggest moving it.
Yes we Brycers find DS is very confusing.
Sorry Neil: I am back now how do I find the content??? You are probably gone now I had to get some sleep....maybe some body out there knows ........??? Please...
sigh, okay ... I'll wait some more then.
Patience55; Yes me to its killing me to try the hair creator...I am sure glad I don't have your screen name ...LOL
Ok What if I just uninstall the whole mess and start over.....??????? Mike,Jeff, Jimmy,Richard,Neil...anyone???
Ok I am going to bed its midnight here.....goodnight...oh I did do more screen shots maybe this will help someone help me...???
Well I'm "around" atm ... hehehe ... chose my handle to remind myself constantly to have some 'cause, well you know ...
One item I was wondering is how and/or if you have tried installing the LAMH "manually" [not using DIM] because AFAIK DIM doesn't install .exe files and LAMH is a plugin. [I have no idea if there's an installer or just folders for it].
I don't use DIM so can't help with those details.
I manually install folders and manually tell D/S to go look for them.
Then I usually end up looking for stuff in the regular content library as not everything comes with metadata that works with whatever edition of D/S I'm running. Some have duplicate references 'cause one is for 4.0 and the other for 4.5 ... or 4.6 ... funsville.
One more screen shot everything comes up as a box shape now.......It keeps saying my data is missing and the product might not work as expected.......................
Okay ... think you have files being stored in two places. I have "My Library" for the stuff ... if your edition is using "Content" instead of My Library, then reverse the "what I'd do" suggestion.
............
Hopefully if everything is in 'one place', the files will find their parts.
At least you appear to have nested content folders, which is something Daz Studio can't deal with. E.g. the "data" folder should never show in the content manager if configured correctly, nothing from that "data" folder is ever supposed to be loaded directly - it serves a similar function like some usually hidden "Runtime" directories, like "Geometries" and such and also contains the basic morphs for example.
It looks like you have something like
with each of the "Studio", "My Library", and "Content" folders probably having their own "data" folder and likely a "Runtime" structure within them.
If you need separate content folders, then you probably want all the "Studio", "My Library", and "Content" folders on the same level on the file system (at least not nested) and add each to the content directory manager. Another option would be to merge the separate content folders into one, not sure if that breaks something though like created scenes.
Either way, Daz Studio has trouble to find the specific data due to the multiple content directories and the nested structure and that is why you are getting lots of broken content in the end.
There is likely more broken I am afraid, as you had other directories added as "Daz Studio Formats" folders before, like e.g that you have now other folders with "data" / "Runtime" structure within them and which are not added to the content manager anymore or yet, but that is a bit hard to tell at the moment. Potentially these can also be merged into one, if you only want to have one content folder.
Overall for myself, personally, I am keeping it simple with one content directory for everything, but that might not be an option for you if you want to organise your content differently.
Renpatsu; what I want is to be able to find things but that does not seam to be working out too well ...instead of everything showing up as boxes now and it asking me to locate stuff it sort of works I added another path........probably wrong but at this point I can half way find stuff..What I want to do is a complete re-install and be done with this mess and use 4.6 so I can play with my "look at my hair" purchase...Trish p.s. you know how judi garland in the wizard of oz said " theres no place like home well to me theres no place like Bryce7Pro
