Henryhor : Excellent render.
My second entry : Winter silence.
Henryhor - very beautifully done winter scene.
adbc - I took it for a photo. Looks incredibly realistic - except the sharp shadows from the trees on the snow. You may want to try soft shadows - it will take longer to render but I think it would be well worth the time.
@ Henryhor: Beautiful scene. Like a calendar sheet. Very well.
@ adbc: Wonderfully realistic scene. I agree with Horo, soft shadows would make it look even more real.
Horo : thank you. I agree that the shadows are a bit sharp and I'm working on it.
drachenlords : thank you.
Henryhor: Very nice winter scene. I hope the waterpump is not frozen!
Thanks to all for the kind comments.
@ adbc: very nice scene. Like the sky. An easy way to reduce shadows is just to reduce their intensity if soft shadows takes too long to render.
Henryhor : thanks. I must admit that at first I had not a clue on how to reduce the sharpness of the shadows. What I did was : enabling soft shadows in the render options and RPP to 144. In the skylab I reduced the intensity to 80 and the shadow softness to 30. I think (for me) that it looks much better.
adbc - perfect. Remember that sun shadow intensity is a global control and affects also other light sources like radials, etc. Reducing it makes all objects in a scene (partly) transparent to light. Shadow softness also works in regular render mode but it usually takes longer to render. Depending on the roughness/bumpiness of the object the shadow falls on, 9 rays per pixel (rpp) can be already enough, I never needed more than 64. A good strategy is to plop render a part (here lower right corner) and start with a low rpp setting and increase it one step at the time until there is no pixelation visible in the blurred part. Each higher rpp step doubles the render time. As for the setting, the bigger the scene depicted (big landscape), the lower the setting, for a still life it usually needs a higher setting. In your scene, I would have started at 25 moved up and down in 5 steps. I think you got got it right here with 30.
adbc, great work!
Horo : thanks for your comment and the interesting explanation.
Slepalex : thank you !
adbc Ecellent image - 2nd one is (to me) much better.
Super, AdBc...shadows effects way much better, and can hear the crunching of snow underneath one's foot.

Dan Whiteside, Jamahoney : thank you for your kind comment.
adbc: very well done scene. Second version is indeed much better.
Hansmar : thank you.
Henryhor - beauiful
@ adbc: Very nice. With the soft shadows it is perfect.
drachenlords : thank you !
@ adbc: much better
@ mermaid010: thanks
A last entry: The little match girl.
Thought I never could upload it. Internet was broken for about two weeks.
@ Henryhor: very nicely done. Humor like Charles Dickens would have liked and I like him too.
Henryhor - that's a lovely work. I agree with drachenlords about Charles Dickens, it seems also about at that time.
Henryhor : Excellent render, very detailed, well done.
Thank you for your comment.
drachenlords, Horo, adbc: thanks for your kind comments. Forgot the credits: victorian street (Stonemason), victorian Xmas tree (Merlin), Mother Goose for Laura (Mada, Sarsa, Thorne), Regency for M4 (Ravenhair)...
Henryhor: Wonderful render and indeed, very Dickensian.
Henryhor: Excellent image. Interesting twist on the HC Andersen story.
