The only thing I didn't like about Argos is his facial normals. Too much scowling for me. Fortunately I replaced those with m8s and the skin works well. His own anatomical elements is cool.

The Day After HDRI is my new favorite thing. It renders so quickly, and produces a nice edgy environment and scene.

Here Owen and Boyd are wearing SdeB's New PantherG8M suit.  I just replaced one of the patches.

    Very nice!

Thanks. I really liked those hdri. Great for rendering dark scenes and they render fast.

His included elements is unusual, but you can attach them, and then reapply the skin, if you need to.  The wet skin looks really good and it is easy to apply and remove.Unfrotunately the wet skin... It does not apply to the genitals at all I'm not sure why.. am I missing something?

If the wet skin is a geoshell, it wouldn't apply to the genitals. Geoshells don't generally include settings for geografts.

If the wet skin is settings without maps, you can just copy the torso settings and copy them to the genital surfaces.

It doesn't appear to be a geoshell. Oddly when you use it, the script insists on naming your figure Argos to apply the wet skin. The elements are... done differently. I will see how the skin settings work.

That's not true, geoshells cover geografts.

Well, after all that, I had to pick him up. (Honestly, was going to anyway.)

The first thing I noticed about him is that he loads with his legs in T-pose rather than A-pose. It hasn't made any difference for the few pieces of clothing I've tried so far, but it's weird. The way the elements are handled is definitely a bit unusual (and the shape is ... a lot).

Oddly, his chest tattoo is an LIE preset, but his forearm tattoo is an actual material preset. Wonder why?

Unlike everything else, the wet look is a script, rather than materials -- DSE instead of DUF -- so the reason that it doesn't work on the elements is simply that it wasn't written to do so. I'm not sure why they chose that method. It's easy enough to save the wet look settings off as a shader preset. (I really wish they'd called their scripts "Wet Look" and "Remove Wet Look" instead of "Wet Dry Look" and "Wet Wet Look"; that's just confusing. Same goes for his hair -- Hair, Beard, Goatee, Moustache, Soul Patch, all by themselves, would have been more clear than that the way they handled it. Also, shorter.)

I like his poses. Who knew you could divide 10 poses and mirrors into so many partials!

I agree with you about his face. I like the lines around his eyes -- very older surferdude -- but his forehead doesn't really work, I think.

I like him. He's definitely a different sort of package than we usually get.

Probably better to have said that because a geograft is a separate piece, if the vendor doesn't include settings for the geograft as well as the body, it will simply be white or transparent (depending on how it is or is not handled).

Here's Boyd with Argus's skin and M8's normals. I changed the lips since I prefered some color- Argus's lips are very matte for someone as  fair- like he's wearing pancake makeup. I used photoshop to replace Argus's lips with Boyd's old lips.    Removing the normals, got rid of the squinty brow. I then darkened the skin using MAXX's color tones, since none of Argus's skins were dark enough. To make it more Boyd-like, I restored Boyd's machine silver eyes.

Here's the Wet-skin Look. I had to return to Boyd's previous Anatomical Elements. When you see it, you'll know why. wink

Well ... it would have been interesting to try to put it in a swimsuit, that's for sure.

Okay so on the subject of men's content, sPECtacular G8M has some nice chest/pecs morphs. What I found with this products is a little goes a long way. If you dial in pecs on the guys at 100 percent, be prepared for some pecs suitable for nursing baby mammoths. Well- maybe not that big, but at least a good sized bear. But A little of these morphs is all you need.

I don't know how they fit really with clothing. But I think they look great to add a more sexy, pinup look to all your sort of squared off looking dudes.

Here is M8, with Some muscularity already dialed in. The second image, shows the pecs morphs, dialed in less than 50 percent.

Rural Virginia is a lot hotter than I thought. Boyd is from around there... Somewhere.  I'm just testing out the Rural Virginia  HDRI

Does anyone recall the name of the DAZ utility that let you view Iray previews that were less memory intensive? I know it exists but don't recall the name

Are you talking about the Aux viewport? It is only less memory intensive because the aux viewport window is usually much smaller than the regular viewport. Aux Viewport is a pane that you can dock if you wish. Find it in the Window menu.

  • Draw Settings lets you cotnrol what the preview does, separately from the render, which may allow you to save memory.

  • There's also Render Throttle for Iray.

That was it! Render Throttle. I knew there was a product, but I was not recalling the name. Thanks Richard.

Okay, here we are again, taking a look at men's outfits. This one is dForce Modern Shirt and Blazer Outfit for Genesis 8 Male.  It is a blazer, high-waisted jeans, jacket and tennis shoes without socks. Accessories include sunglasses and tennis shoes.

It handed dforce well, no problems. There was a fair amount of pokethrough, partially solved by enabled smoothing, which is off by default. The tennis shoes Deformed quite a bit with toe movements, so I had to zero the feet. they still look kind of... lumpy.

The ensemble reminds me a bit of Don Johnson's Hawaii 50 outfits. Its a bit of a mishmash of styles. There are some different color options, including alternate clear-glassed sunglasses and textures for the watch.

I actually saw a guy heading to work in that exact combo last week. I blinked a couple times, but as he walked to his car, it grew on me. It is an okay big city look. I saw the guy another day, and he had a totally different look. So, I think he likes to change his look throughout the week. Kind of cool that guys can do it too now.

I have bought the outfit but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. But before I pulled the trigger I looked to see if you had checked it out first Serene Night. You give good reviews.

The Rural Virginia HDRI is an intentionally seedy, kind of Deliverance-y-Apocalyptic set filled with ramshackle buildings, old rusty vehicles and strangely exotic red striped wallpaper. But don't worry. Owen and Boyd are going to stay the night there. What could go wrong?

On the subject of women's clothing that works for men, here is Some of the Aeon Soul's Everyday 2 poses with the shirt. It works pretty well on the guys. You need to change the scene ID to G8M instead of G8F to retain the morphs and do some additional tweaks with smoothing and size. But if you are a tweaker, you should be able to get these to work.  There is a slight moobish quality to the shirt, but it definitely works. I'm going to check the pants.

The pants were easier to deal wtih on G8M due to the lack of breast morphs. Just load 'em into the scene, change the scene id, and fit them on G8M.

Did you get the "get dressed" or "get undressed" set, or both?

Separately: did you get the new LI Crew Cut hair? I've got it in my cart and have been circling around it. I keep thinking, this generation has something like 3,785 crew-cut or crew-cut-adjacent hairs; do I really need another one? And then I think, well yeah, but Laticis does good work. (Although the hairline is slightly odd -- that hairline on the side front bit should be rounded, not a point.)

I got both. It was a bit pricey, but I tend to use the undress morphs and poses a lot. The guys always seem to be getting undressed for some reason....wink

I will test that hair. It was a trigger for the 65 percent off category for several things I wanted. I'll load the hair and let you know what I think.

Okay, my opinion on the hair is it needs a hair cap. It looks thin and fur-like on Owen's really pale head

With the hair cap from the Touseled hair cap, it is doable, but the hair pattern is not the same and so it looks a bit off to me. Now the hair is super dense, and looks wolf-boyish. The temple areas are noticeable where the pattern doesn't match up.

OK, thanks. I may see if I can tinker with the cap opacity map for tousled to make it match better; that's been something I've seen on a few different hairs. (Which, to be sure, isn't its fault for not matching hair it wasn't meant to work with.)
