I think it is definitely worth it, especially if you are dog lover. Ahem, which I am. Too bad more energy wasn't invested in bringing the chi's to DAZ dog.
I don't have many poses for the dogs, so I think I'll have to make some. The poses seem sort of breed specific. You can apply other dog poses, but like the pup boses look weird on the older animals. Both HW and DAZ big dog, have some flaws... They both have some horsey qualities which make me wonder. But I love this one, and will use him often I think.
okay, this is a very useful freebie: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/free-tears-for-genesis-8-female/79570
It is designed for G8F but Autofits well to G8M. I rarely like tear products but the"water in the eye" tear Attachment looks pretty good. It says it is commercial use as well. I experimented with different shaders, but didn't feel joy. There are bloody, and inky options for your vamps and makeup wearing figures. Enjoy.
^ Thanks pointing this out, looks good!
The Standing Embracing Poses for Genesis 8 by AtrillionGames work well on male couples with some adjustment. This is Pose 11. I have gotten to like the script based posing. Although it does take getting used to.
What is script based posing?
To pose figures using those sets by AtrillionGames you have to be using daz studio 4.12 and to click on the two characters you want to pose in order of where you want them to be. Then you click an icon that represents that pose and it takes both characters, puts them in a group and poses them together. Grouping them is convenient, you can then move them around. It also gives you the option to reverse the poses- all by applying a script.
I picked up these poses this morning and the seated ones the other day. They take a bit of getting use to, but they can be saved as pose presets if you want to bypass the script later on. Also, despite the promo images showing two different sized characters, two same size characters work quite well. I like them both.
On the subject of Women's clothing that works well for men, I picked up a couple of women's sportswear/active wear outfits. This one is https://www.daz3d.com/x-fashion-activewear-02-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s
It comes with a sportsbra, leggings, and tennis shoes. The shoes and pants fit well with a touch of smoothing.
This is X-fashion Activewear (01 ?).https://www.daz3d.com/x-fashion-activewear-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s It lacks the waist morphs of version 02, which you can use to seat the workout pants lower. You can use Fit Control of course. It includes a nice pair of flat tennis shoes much like 02 and a sports bra. I am kind of wondering why the second one is a new product instead of an expansion. Anyway. It looks pretty good. Great with a tennis shirt or a sleeveless t-shirt
Chieftain Jewelry is quite nice. The jewelry can be adjusted or reduced to fit better. Although fantasy and historical imagery is not my thing, this is something I certainly will use when I dip into that genre. Nice
It is somewhat unfair that Boyd gets to wear the Chieftain jewelry and Owen gets a loincloth, so next time, We shall have to reverse things. I removed one of the two nose rings here, and made the one that remained a bit smaller.
On the subject of fun female products that can be used with men, here is: Display Boxx for Genesis 8 Females
It is basically an emissive vending machine/box, where you can put your figure. It comes with Genesis 8 female poses, and a ton of really good shaders you can use for other things.
The rendering time wasn't too awful. But I made it smaller so that it could be done in a half hour. I am going to have to see if I Can find some appropriate poses. Most of the ones I have are 'tanked people' or cryo frozen people. There is no water in this set, and it is way too hot to freeze.
Oh man... I thought I was safe from needing the HW dog! "It's only got one breed," I used to tell myself, because I didn't know about Philosopher's Egg. Boyd and Owen seem to have succumbed to temptation though! I hope another pupper won't be too much exitement for our bold adventurers.
Yeah, I really like the things Philosopher's Egg is doing with their Doggos, especailly the smaller breeds which get no love anywhere. The fox is really cool too.
Bitty is very self sufficient. She probably handles things quite well while Owen is away. Also there is Granda, and Boyd's parents who probably would like to Dog-sit.
I made this pose as part of a summer set. However, because of the height difference, I had to make some adjustments. Boyd is very close to 7 feet tall. Owen is about 6'1.So I had to move limbs around, until Owen was sitting on Boyd's leg, otherwise the arms wouldn't work well.
Happy solstice everyone. =-)
The popsicle's are part of Antfarm's popsicle set. They have an annoying bug, when you apply the iray shaders, it recolors the stick, the same shade as the popsicle. In the years that has been in the store, it has never been fixed. The set is otherwise awesome.
Here is Casual Guy for Genesis 8 males. It includes, shirt, shorts, socks and shoes, and belt. The shirt has a texture option to remove the sleeves.
The shorts and socks are my favorite part of the outfit. The shorts have a nice slim fit, and although they have a bug. (you can't select them or the belt in the view port), the textures are nice and show realism. It was pointed out to me that the shorts have no belt loops, and I can confirm that is so. Which does make one wonder how it all stays up.
The socks desperately needed a ribbed texture, so I added one.
The absence of the shoe soles on these leather loafers, make me really wonder, as does the collar of the shirt, which has no stiching and stands upright seemingly by magic. It really needs a hem or something to explain the way the shirt looks stiff like that, without any particular reason. There is a texture expansion.
The set loads without textures, which is an annoyance. Especially since it is difficult to apply textures to the short and belt. But you can do it. It just would be so much better if it loaded with a texture applied.
Happy Father's day! Yes, there is even a burger there with bacon on it. Since that's the way Boyd likes them!
Can you believe the hotdog textures were 4k? I couldn't.... LOL.
That's a really nice scene!
Is all the cookout gear and food from the set that came out with Tristan?
And wouldn't that get the bacon edges all burnt? (Genuine question, I haven't been anywhere near a grill in longer than I want to think about.)
I just love how you add so many details. What's the story with the little girl?
The BBQ set includes, the BBQ, a hutch, and a propane tank, and the 4k Hotdogs and some utensils. I removed the back of the grill and the hutch so that my painstaking work posing all the food on there, was visible. LOL. There was a 'grilled texture' for the hotdogs, but I didn't use it for some reason.
The buns, patties, and bacon came from this set:https://www.daz3d.com/american-diner-60s the poses came from the 'grillin pose set' by feral fey which parents the spatula and tongs to the hands. It also parented the hutch and bbq which I could do without. The reason being is I didn't realize until I was nearly through that Boyd's foot was too low for the deck, and when I moved Boyd the whole grill went up, dislodging the food So I did minor surgery on Boyds's leg to raise his foot up instead.
The whole scene is a kitbash, since I love food props.
The cups came from a coffee shop, the cooler a beach set, the ketchup god knows where. I just searched ketchup and it showed up. LOL I stacked all the props in there and since my family always grilled the buns I put them on there to toast I painstakingly added all the burger buns, then stacked the buns and patties on one side. The hotdogs were already grouped on that plate, so I can't take the credit for that.
There is even some bacon grilling there, but you can't see it well because of the angle.
One thing, that disappointed me was the tongs could not close. I wanted Owen to be picking a wiener dog off the grill, but it would not grip.
They are grilled but resting on top of the burger so they won't get too dark. That burger is ready to come off now, so I think the chances it will burn are negligible, unless Boyd is distracted by his coffee. The dog is much more likely to nab a patty if the little girl doesn't nab one for her. Not that Bitty really can eat hamburger patties but, she has code that gives her a slight mischievous streak which had the consequence of teaching Owen not to leave his socks and good food lying around. Just like... A real dog.
Bitty does actual consume some food. Simple sugars. They fuel the nanites that run her machinary, so she tends to consume flat sugary soda.
I have never fully decided what little girl Owen and Boyd were to adopt. There are too many orphans after the war, and it is possible they foster several children through the years. Owen is very good with kids, and Boyd is learning from him.
When I saw Janet in the store, I thought she was cute. I aged her down a bit with the child morphs. I was disappointed to find most of my recent purchases of black women's hairstyles that would look good on a child were all dforce. I find it time consuming to do.
Boyd and Owen foster the girl, and a boy who was misbehaving in his last school, but whose parents were killed by the aliens.
They also have a biological son, who looks a lot like Boyd.
I like that scene as well. We always baked the bacon when I worked in restaurants to avoid the spatter when it gets hot. Also you need so much of it for the customers. We did have a few authentic barbeques with pork ribs, beef ribs, chicken, and some type of beef cuts at that hotel. Those were always exhausting as I'd have to work 36 hours straight through the entire barbeque and my prior shift in the restaurant proper.
Okay so here we are: Ytar for Ashan is so far my favorite shape and skin tone. I'd probably add some HD to him, but this wasn't included so I left it out. He's wearing Action Hero Hair which I converted over using the Hair converter. Seems to have worked out pretty well.
Abasi HD comes with highly defined head features and a really cut body. The body I like. I'm not sure if the head is just needs to appear a bit younger for my tastes. Nevertheless, he's got a great physique and an awesome skin.
Astraeus is noticibly wearing makeup at default, including some high gloss lip stick, and eyeshadow/liner. His skin is darker than the others. His eyebrows look unnatural to me, and I would likely replace them. I think the color is too bluish black for me and glossy in a way difficult to describe. He comes with some nice options, including glowing makeup and eyes which remind me a bit of Stargate. He's okay, but not my fave.
The one detail I like is the veins in his hands. Thats a feature many pa's forget
Ashan himself can look dark, or light depending on translucency I already rendered him dark in his designated thread since that is his default textures, so I ran a test with him lighter. For some reaon he simply looks bleached out. Almost like a different character. Definitely this is the texture they used in the main promo since He's not this light by default. I Can't really decide if I like his look or not. I think I prefer him better darker. This simply looks desaturated, and I like color.
It seems to me like his head pushes right to the edge of Stylized and his body ... does not. They kind of don't fit together. That said, I still like him, but he feels odd.
I think one way or the other I would've been good with, but both together, it doesn't match so well. I do think he has the best body of the whole lot though. So.... Perfect for mix and match.
Dacre is the final character in the lot of Ashan's. He is the lightest, of the group I purchased, with a caucasian skin. He has the Ashan longer thinner face shape, and some very pronounced abdominal muscles. He includes some warpaint/priest style makeups and eyebrows. I like him. He's a solid entry and I have no complaints.
That wraps up the Ashans that I purchased.
Everyday 2 set by Aeon Soul. It has 3 texture expansion, each with a different theme and several texture options, most of which aren't shown. The set includes the option to twist the top behind the shoulder for a short bolero-style top. All pants and shirt art the same style, capris with a t-shirt. There are no shoes. The set is dforceable, and includes settings to make it happen. Fortunately it is not required, since I dislike dforcing tight mens things.
Overall, I do like the set. I do wonder what they are supposed to wear for footwear especially on the space ones. Some of these colors will be hard to match. Dare I hope for an everyday set 3 to solve the mystery?
All textures can be applied to the Bolero-style worn shirt.
If you are wondering about everyday 1, it came out for genesis 3 males.
