Instead of "What are you doing?" go with "Whatcha doing?" and make it melodic and drop your voice on the "doo"  and raise it on the "ing."  And make sure the phrases sound completely different in melody.  When I say "You're my baby." I lower my voice on "baby."  (Which is the last word. So Whatcha doing? goes up, "You're my baby" goes down.) My hubby just recorded Finn really going to town, but we can't get it off his phone. Won't send as a message and he's trying to chop it up to send in an email, the file is too big, etc.

Cute bird setup. Thanks for the tips!

By the way, after using Daz Studio for years, I just learned you can do simple math in a numeric field (like on the Parameters pane). Click on the field and type +  -  *  /  then the change.. For example, if you want to move something a little bit type +1.5. Want to move it a lot, type *10 or *100. How many times I could have used this! May be common knowledge but was news to me.

No problem, it is a big hassle. I ws thinking same thing you suggested. I think I need to try and do a sing-songy Swiss, Scandinavian, or some other European accent and in that case since I want to use English I'll go for a Scottish accent as they always get a laugh (well except in the isles where I guess they are normal accents to hear).  And in that case there is a CD of how to speak in Scots that I'll order from Amazon for $20. The 3 I have now might not take to whistling or talking but the lutino I will be buying should. I say Hello & Bye-Bye everytime I enter or leave the room. 'Come Here' to step up & 'Go Home' to fly back to his cage / cage top.

They are getting so tame, even without wing clipping... I'm surprised.

OK, here they are pictures of them today.

Rio (grey pied male cockatiel and bald headed!) is often with ruffled feathers and I'm not sure why but being 15 yo maybe it is age to stay warm. When he next molts I hope he grows back in all his flight feathers so I can exercise him more and teach him more tricks.

I just got Jill (the aqua colored female budgie) to step up on my index finger via strategically placed millet spray and hands. Get her to step back down using millet spray too so I wouldn't scare her getting her off my finger. Exciting!

Jack (the lime green male budgie) was out of his cage and then went back in today which is just as well because it made it much easier for me to entice Jill to step up on my finger.

Again, the house is being DIYed by myself a non-carpenter so excuse the mess. That room will be my weight room.

This is Ella and Dragon.  Ella is now about 13 1/2, she was born in our house, we owned both of her parents a well. she still runs and plays and will chase a squirrel across the yard full tilt.  Dragon is close to 18 he is a pound resuce, when we got him he was about 4 weeks old, not really weaned and his lttle legs were like toothpicks.  He was so fierce and determined to come through the bars of his cage and coime home with us.  We alos adotped another kitten the same day, Drake, but he passed away a couple years ago.  Not from the same littelr, Drake was about a month or two older.  He taught Dragon how to use the litter box and clean himself.

They are pretty, I am so tempted to get a Dalmation or German Shepherd but won't. There is an Australian Shepherd in the neighborhood that has been visiting every house in the neighborhood for 10 years now, particularly if the house being visited has a dog too.

My husband grew up with Dalmations.  I've had a couple German Shepards growing up.  Ella's dad was the first Aussie we had, and we really fell in love with the breed.  Not sure if we will get another, I really want to pick a rescue dog the next time around.

There are some really great deals in today's offers. Sonja is a big fan of Jepe's Cinematic Poses and Props series, and today, the second one is PC+ for a Day and only $1.99. (Lots of good products in there today.) Then scroll on down to the Featured Sales section and take a good look at the third graphic:

    image

Or just follow the image link above, which opens in a new window.

There are 229 BUNDLES in there, and undoubtedly some of those are on your wishlist. But it gets even better. There are 65 Daz Originals, and the 65% is stacking with the 50% member discount for about 82% off. I was thinking about getting the Ice Vacation Bundle, a while back, when it was down to $33 and change. It is currently $16.61 in my cart. (If you simply can't find a qualifying new release, the combined discount drops to "only" 75%.)

I put so many bundles in my cart last night, I would have used up more than half of the Store Credit I have left. I had to toss a lot of things out of the cart, or risk running out of money in the next day or two. I'm still waffling on a couple of items. For me, this offer is the best of the Anniversary sale, so far.

Thanks for the reminder L'Adair. I forgot to scroll down that far and there are a lot of bundles on my wishlist in there. Like you, I'm going to have to pare it down.

I want to thank everyone who liked my latest image https://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/661761/

You're welcome, @RGcincy. The prices on those bundles are practically insane, so I suspect the offer will change tomorrow. Seemed like a good idea to bring it up in here.

xmasrose, you deserve the honor of the top banner with that image. I loved it the moment I set eyes on it. Well done.

Congratulations and you're welcome! I loved the humor of the image. I can totally commiserate with the shock of getting hair a different color than what you expected.

I've had green. Yes, I HAVE. Too many experimentations of trying to get the right shade of blonde, changing my mind to brunette, then back to blonde a couple times. Had to go brunette to cover the lovely olive hue. I was 18 at the time. :)   @xmasrose  Well deserved!

Definitely a good idea. I had shopped there about an hour ago and gotten the Single Homes Bundle 5 and Collective3d Neighborhood Block 1, along with the Ice Palace bundle. I'm like you, I had eyed that one before, but other than showcasing it, I really don't NEED anything so now I usually wait on higher priced products. I got Rachel Hair as the qualifying product, I like the looks of it. Very realistic.

Before the Select Places and Things Bundles Sale goes away, I want to showcase two I bought today. I had to use the Scene Optimizer heavily to get this into my 6GB GPU memory. The only thing in the scene that is not part of these bundles is the puddle on the floor and the backrop outside the window. The puddle comes from an SY Rigged Water Iray product. The scene is lit with the Sun-Sky render setting.

    I agree well done

With twenty years of working as an auto tech I can really relate to it

You should post it in this thread as well https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/57610/car-and-bike-lovers-thread-mark-iv#latest

The Retro Vehicle Bundle is one of those I ended up removing from the cart. I sure hope Daz has another GC sale, and soon. I'm running out of "monopoly" money!

  • @barbult I was thinking of getting that vehicle bundle, I was just wondering if the windows can be wound down on the cars?

Thanks, Rich and Robert. I'm doing a closer view of the Workbench in the Workshop now. The Workshop textures are OK for distant shots, but they look very low res and over textured (too much bump and normal) for closer work.

Robert, I'll post it in the thread you linked.

I'll check after my render finishes. I did notice that the control to rotate all wheels on the muscle car doesn't work. I'll submit a help request on that one. The steering works, and the doors open.

I haven't tried the other vehicles yet.

the car looks fantastic! I really like the light at the back, coming in from the ceiling.

The texture on the ground looks....odd.  Like, maybe it needs tiling or something?

The floor textures suffers from a couple issues. 1) The original textrure looks pretty lores. 2) I had to use Scene Optimizer on this scene and cut the size by 2X.

Here is the closer view of the Workshop and the Workbench. Both show some issues with low resolution textures and too much bump and/or normal map for this distance. This render did NOT reduce the textures with Scene Optimizer, so this is what you get out of the box. As jakiblue mentioned, the floor looks odd

Jepe's Art Deco Statuettes for Victoria 8  LY Leonine Pro HDR Lighting Vol.2  Short Afro Hair for Genesis 3 and 8

Jepe's statuette product is Still New, but it should lose that status at Daz Midnight. I'm really happy with this one. (And I try not to buy G8F stuff unless it includes both genders or G3F. Best is when it works for both genders of both generations.)  Besides the poses and the props, you can choose one of 15 preset "props" for an instant statuette. The cool thing is, it uses the V8 figure, so you can use moprhs on it to change the look.

This is the #06 preset but with different shaders from the product applied, a different face, and the afro hair with the same shader as the body.

Art Deco in Bronze & Gold

Art Deco in Bronze & Gold

The fabric, pedastal and lamp glass, (the big white circle,) all have multiple material zones. I used a white semi-opaque glass shader on the front of the fabric, and a gold metal shader on the back. The glass round has a front, back and edge zones, so I changed the edge to gold to match the fabric. The pedastal has one main and two edge zones. I added the gold metal shader for an accent of the pedastal.

Here is a close up of the statuettes face.

    Face Detail Art Deco Statuette

I dialed the V8 head morph to zero and added 50% of P3D Hailey Head and 47.8% each of some male head morphs I made back when the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread was in it's infancy: the base G3M and Darius 7. (Please don't ask me how I did it. I don't think I could repeat the steps no matter how much I wanted to.) I also used the G8 Head morphs to further change her nose.

@zombietaggerung the windows don't roll down. The hood and trunk don't open, either. The pickup tailgate doesn't go down.

Edit: I just noticed that the windshield glass of the pickup (haven't checked the others) has too much distortion. Look at the way the seats and truck bed look through the windshield. Changing the glass shader from solid to thin might help.

Edit, OK, here it is with the Glass- Thin Clear shader applied. I imagine it would look better with an outdoor HDRI to reflect.

Edit: OK one last image. This is the truck with thin glass windows in the Mud Road HDRI from HDRI Haven. It looks pretty good to me. The lights might need some tweaking . They look kind of fake to me.

I'm really surprised, but the places and things bundles are still there. Although the new graphic doesn't say "bundles"…

Anyway, it looks like this offer is still good for at least one more day. (But this is Daz, and there are no guarantees!)

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,887

@barbult   That car and workshop are very nice!  Thanks for showing the different textures, the bump does seem very pronounced when the camera is closer. DId you notice when you had the Thin Clear glass applied, it looks like there is someone's ghost with arm stretched across the back of the seat in the truck?  (inkblot test LOL)

@ladair   Love the statue! Your changes to G8F are excellent, a lot of character.

Okay, decided since Finnigan is such a good talker, to give him his own YouTube channel. I haven't used Camtasia in about five years (or longer) so it took awhile to figure out, and this still could use tweaking but at some point I have to say good enough or I won't get the next videos done.  Here's Tiel Time With Finnigan     BTW, tonight he said Step Up when I put him in his cage, and when I bobbed my head, he said "Boogie!" So yes, they do associate words and actions. My husband had asked that less than half an hour before Finn showed him two actions/associated words!

Why oh WHY do I always end up doing more than one version of a render, and than have a hard time deciding which one to use *bangs head on wall*

*rants over, continuing banging head on wall*

On another note, I LOVE Ravi... he's amazing! Georgous looks, versatile for many different scenes, and easy to work with :)
