I'm having an interesting time making interconnecting cables for the stompboxes on the pedalboard I've made. I've gotten some great ideas from folks in the New Users forum, so I'm learning how to use Blender to make the cables. There is a learning curve, though! :)

Here's the latest render which shows monitors, mic and stand, and my nemesis: The Pedalboard.
Scott
Wow, you are really going for realism with all those details. The results are great, too.
Not at all, I am well aquainted with chronic pain and totally sympathize!
Thank you! I need to fix a lot but it’s coming!
Scott
Thank you! I hope you’re coping well. If it wasn’t for my wife, I don’t know how I would cope!
Scott
Yes, for the most part its well managed and most of the time I'm good. I'm still able to be very active (which actually helps in my particular situation, the more active I stay, the less it hurts) I also have a great chiropractor and massage therapist lol. Thank you for asking!
You're quite welcome! I'm glad your pain is under control. I start physical therapy next Wednesday so that should help immensely. Daz and people like you and the many others who have commented and helped make things better. Now, to learn more about Blender!
Scott
Here's a render with some stage lights added. I may add additional colors but right now, they're blue and red. I have mixed feelings about the result.
I also used "Fit Control" on the jacket because the fit on the right breast did not look natural. Interesting--it's a G3 jacket!

Cool work on modeling details like the pedals. It is enough for me to figure out Hexagon. I am afraid to even delve into Blender as it seems to be non-intuitive for beginners. Nevertheless, making your own models is rewarding. It is also fun to see how a project develops with each little improvement.

Brian,
I didn’t make the stomp boxes, I bought them. I wish I had the skill to make them, but I’m having enough trouble making interconnecting cables to daisy chain them together. I’m learning a lot and may use Hexagon for the cables because Blender is way foreign GUI-wise and the keyboard commands while cool seem foreign, too.
I used to write CG algorithms for a living, so all I had to provide was documentation for inputs and let GUI folks have at it. So almost naturally, everything dealing with being a user is sometimes foreign.
Scott
Here's a tip on learning to use Blender. Once you get a fair handle on Hexagon, i.e understand what the main things do. if you still want to learn to use blender, watch some of the beginner you tube videos on blender and follow along. You will be surprised at how much more sense it makes once you are somewhat competent in one. It does transfer over and by following along and doing the modelling with the video, your brain makes the translation a bit easier. At least, that's how it worked with me. Once I had a very basic grasp of Carrara modelling, both Hexagon and Blender got a bit easier to understand althouhg I am very much a rank beginner.
Thank you! I've got the cables made in Blender and positioned, but I think I'm kind of going to have to start over with exporting the pedalboard. It seems to import flattened meaning that even though all objects appear in the pedalboard and can be seen in object lists, once I save and export it out of Blender and load into DAZ, all surfaces are lost and nothing but the pedal board and all objects can be selected.
It seems likeI have start over with exporting the pedalboard for use in another program. I need to read Hexagon and Carrara tutorials, as well. This is where I wish I had two monitors so I could have the tutorials on one screen and the target program on the other. It is possible, but impractical right now as I'm pretty much forced to sit on the couch and work that way as working at my desk is just too uncomfortable.
Or, until I'm fully recovered, I keep the pedalboard as is.
Scott
Make sure that you stop by the Carrara forums, they are a super helpful bunch and can generally answer questions involving Blender and Hexagon as well. They may be able to help with the import and export issue you are having.
Thank you, Sonja! I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for your support and suggestions. One thing I've noticed is the tutorials for Carrara are really old. I hope the folks in the Carrara forum can tell me why .duf's from the current version of Studio cause Carrara to hang. Chances are there are some unsupported features that cause the program to go bonkers. :)
Scott
No problem at all, happy to help. I've recieved plenty of help here myself so I'm always happy to pay it forward lo.
I am sure someone over there can they are very passionate about Carrara and really, some amazing people.
I finally got the cables done! Now, onto working on the scene! I found I was scaling incorrectly. Lesson learned!
Scott
This is very impressive! Great work on the hair and expression.
Thank you mmitchell_houston! I'm working on an Alienware laptop too, complete with the AGA, as well. Heavy for a laptop, but fast as all get out. I wish the AGA would allow the internal graphics card to be used in tandem with the one in the AGA--my only complaint, though.
Scott
Here's the latest render. This time with a new pose and of course, the corrected pedalboard.
I'm having an issue with the floor's surface I originally chose. I'm using Render Studio for the backdrop and floor. The original floor I chose would sometimes not appear in renders so I chose a floor that was included with Render Studio. I don't know why this happens.
Scott
Edit: I added a second guitar, guitar stand and played some with the figure's hair. Unfortunately the hair morphs don't really support something I wanted to convey--head banging. So, for this I moved the figure's left and right side hair forward and used the wind from the rear morph to move the hair further forward. I even tried to use "HairForce" on it, but it explodes for me. The hair if from the other site and is called "Avenza Hair". I really like Prae's work on curly hair, though. I plan on using "TyneHair" on another figure for this scene.
Bass player or singer? This is something I just rendered. Too cute? Thoughts?
Scott
She looks like a singer to me..
Thanks, Sonja. I'm not all that happy with the result. The figure needs a lot more work.
Scott
Here is the singer in a stock pose, black background. Remember, this is the 80's. :) Character is Anastasia G8, hair is Prae-Tyne worked with UHT2 color mixer. Light is a single, over-bright or too close Emissive plane. Lighting will be different if used in the scene I'm constructing. This is definitely a work in progress.
Scott
That hair is perfect!
Thanks again! I really like playing with UHT2, it’s a great hair tool.
