Nope. Nope, not buying another female. (But she sure is a cutie. I did cave and put her on the wishlist, though.)
ETA: And my comment in the sales thread was not a poke. It was free advertising!
Oh, thanks, that's beautiful! And that's the tree that comes with it? It looks a lot like the dforce tree...
I'm rendering Epiphany Annie https://www.daz3d.com/epiphany-annie-for-genesis-8-female now and I really like her! She seems different from other models and almost has a personality!
(BTW, I don't know why all my forum responses are double quoting, weird...)
Here is a screenshot of a portion of the image of Epiphany Annie that I'm rendering. She looks like she'd make a good rebel but I'm sure if I play with her expressions more, she can look really sweet too. A lot of characters start to all look alike, but I think there's something unique about her. And she triggers the free $10 of Daz O's too!
My little cat woke me up at 12.30 am and I couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to do another render. However, I was obviously still sleep deprived and I couldn't find Eilish because I was spelling her name incorrectly and she wasn't actually in the folder in my content library. So I did the next figure in the G3 folder, Hye. Of course I've found Eilish now, so my list is going to be 11 G3F characters.
This is Hye for Mei Lin 7 and I treated her to my latest hair purchase, Kinley Hair with dForce for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s). I didn't use dForce on this figure, the hair comes with lots of shapiing sliders. I really love this hair, even though I've on had this one quick test to trial it with so far. Hye is very elegant in her promos, but she also makes a great teenager paired this style and colour of hair.
To counteract the very latest hair, I put Hye in this older G2F outfit, Ninja Keiko for Genesis 2 Female(s). I used Fit Control for Genesis 3 Females to help with the shaping and textured the outfit with DG Iray Fabrics of Asia Shaders and Fabric Factory: Realistic Texturing - Iray Shader Presets. I stopped the renders a little early, but I think they are clear enough for this.
I think the pants are probably more suitable for a toon-style figure, but I can see lots of uses for the top under jackets and hoodies. On the portrait render I realised the ribbing was going in the wrong direction around the neckline, so today I've leant how to rotate in the Layered Image Editor.

@Novica and @Wonderland, thankyou for pointing out Grace and Epiphany Annie. I've added them both to my wishlist, even though I clearly have far too many girls! Today it's been a case of looking at those more expensive shader sets that have dropped to within my price range in the sale. That's after I told myself sternly yesterday that I needed to keep what's left of April's Daz pocket money for other things!
@Mollytabby, Check your messages.
That is the dforce tree - the original tree is nice as well, but I wanted cherry blossoms :-)
Off topic, I just spent some time in analog space, away from incorrectly discounting carts and such, getting my new mini-allotment ready for the growing season. Also, the forsythia on the balcony has just burst into bloom.
*wanders off humming a Tom Lehrer tune*
Off topic : forsythia brings back great memories to me so thanks for showing it. It's lovely.
Grace for Genesis 3 & 8 Female Louise Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s) dForce Clothing Set 01 for Genesis 8 Female(s)
Keep in mind I don't use dForce, so didn't have a clue what the presets mean. I did open the Simulation popup (through the Panes) and before I did that I clicked one of the presets in the product. Can someone look at the presets and explain those? The ReadMe has no explanation whatsoever. This is without using dForce, it made sharp shards.
I have a couple questions.
@ati If we don't use the full name of the product (like (Gen3F / Gen8F) instead of writing all that out, does your app know to link it as a forum reference on the product page?
General question for anyone- if I make a custom category in Content Library (such as duplicating and putting People>Genesis 3 Female then when I buy new gals, do they only show up in the original location, or are they also added to the Categories one? I am assuming putting ! in front of the file name would definitely result in the content not wandering into the !People>Genesis 3 Female folder in Categories. I'm tired of having to drill down to People up there in Daz Studio Formats>Daz etc.
You can use any name for it you like, as long as you link to the product.
@ati Thanks. I figured it was the link but got to thinkin' about it too hard.
On the dforce clothing you still need to follow a couple steps. Go to your tools and click on node weight map brush. This should show the dforce applied to the item i.e. blue/purple stays in place, orangepink moves. If its not there go to Create/ new dforce modifier weight mode and then check the node weight map brush again. It should be there. If its not, then go to node weight map brush section and click on add map. That should apply the correct mat. If all you see is all orange/pink, it didn't apply and something is wrong.
Just to clarify, what @IceDragonArt says above may be true for the dForce Clothing Set 01 for Genesis 8 Female(s), (I don't have it and can't check, but I assume Sonja has.) However, there are dForce products that don't use the weight maps, relying solely on the settings in the material zones. I've checked. Also, there are several weight maps. It may be possible a dForce object doesn't modify the first one, Infuence Map, but does use one or more of the others. I've checked when working with purchased dForce products, though, and so far, I haven't seen one that uses any of the alternate maps. (I haven't worked with all the dForce products I have yet, and of course, I don't own all of those products, either.)
Check to see if Smoothing is disabled. dForce will disable Smoothing to simulate, so it might be possible the vendor has smoothing off by default, expecting you to simulate and then turn it back on. Also, dForce simulates at the Base resolution by default, even if the object has subD applied. If subD hasn't already been applied, go ahead and apply it. I know that's not "out-of-box" but it will help.
As for those "shards," WTH? I've never seen bits of clothing break off like those appear to have done. Again I ask is smoothing enabled? (I'm wondering if the fabric is actually inside the figure across the back…)
You will have to add them to the "Categories one" yourself. (I don't do the custom categories, but I did try for a bit, with characters, on this machine. So this one I know the answer to, from experience.)
Maggy for Genesis 3 Female Queen of the Deep Outfit for Genesis 3 Female Creech Evolution
Is coming up. I love my Alienware51. I'm actually rendering AND using the internet ROKU to stream and watch the Masters at the same time, and no lag!
If you are still shopping today, wait until you see this outfit. It's actually really neat! 76% at 20 minutes.
Maggy for Genesis 3 Female Queen of the Deep Outfit for Genesis 3 Female Creech Evolution
I took a chance on that Creech Outfit, and glad I did. It's exotic and has so many intertwined materials! You can use it for all kinds of sci-fi or aquatic characters. It's rather hard to know where to place the hands on the hips if you're just using a pose preset, because so many strands and thingies poke up at the waist/hip.
I'm rendering just Maggy's head and will add it here in about half an hour.

She has beautiful irises. Click on those tentacle thingies to see the details. Click to enlarge.
I am going through boxes and found a fun birthday card from two years ago. For those of you approaching 60 or in it, here ya go-
At 60, fine cognac has not reached it's peak.
A table has yet to become an antique.
A tortoise is only a youth at that age...
And a cactus is still in its juvenile stage.
So think of yourself as experienced and smart...
And just getting off to an excellent start!
@wonderland I agree, she has a unique look that radiates determination and she isn't a copycat of any character. I love the dimples too! Thanks for sharing.
@mollytabby Hye looks feisty! Agree about the pants, they look toony. Different lighting may really change that- except they're a bit "balloony" at the bottom. Nice to see vendors trying different things.
Nyao is a fun and cute character. She comes with an expression set that seems to work well. I like the light blush that can be applied. She also has a lot of nude/light pink lip color options. Here she is wearing Cady Hair and Cherry Blossom Outfit. I also used Hinky's Hair Salon shaders. The first render has a tame expression and has no special lighting. The second shows her with more 'tude, and I've used tonal rage lighting. I love the shader and the lighting.

Well, time to stay 60 again and again. :-)
That's what I keep telling myself ... and occasionally there are some discount perks, or 'concessions' as they call them, for some services and entrance fees.
@worldsedge Nyao looks really good with that lighting. It's subtle and effective, muted a bit. Fits her character.
This the Bar Room Interior 2018 and three billboards from Insta- Crowds and a Genesis 3 Male.

@Wonderland, I am sorry I haven't gotten a chance to make that tutorial on the folders for you yet, been a really crazy week over here. It has slowed down a little and I will try to get it done for you tonight.
@Worlds_Edge, I like Nyoa's character. Another one to add to my list - I have a few Aiko 8 add on characters but she has something about her that you've really brought out in your renders. @Fishtales, I've never used billboard figures, though I do have the Christmas freebie. Do they make a big difference to the way the scene is set up and rendered?
This is Eilish for Genesis 3 Female, with French Twist Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s). I've used Fabric Factory: Realistic Texturing - Iray Shader Presets on the top from Street Casual Outfit for Genesis 3 Female(s). I then used DG Iray Surface Builder - Leather Suede Velvet - Shaders and Merchant Resource on the capri pants from Cardio Gear for Genesis 3 Female(s) and the sandals from Casual Summer for Genesis 3 Female(s).
I had to play around with the lighting for her. I don't know if I have the wrong materials setting perhaps. She is pretty much straight out the box with only the eyeliner and lip gloss option selected.

So, mission accomplished. She is the final figure in my 10 (now 11) GF3's set. It was a useful and interesting exercise and it's made me more aware of how many characters I haven't used. Mainly because they came with free brundles. There are some really lovely figures, plus some I'm not sure I will use again. Also, I've learnt not to automatically follow the style of the promos because some interesting looks can be created with a radical change of hairstyle and clothing.

@Mollytabby
They are good for filling in space without having to set up more figures which takes time and uses memory. Whether it speeds up rendering I'm not sure. Also you can make your own for specific purposes as I did with cows to form a herd :)
That's interesting, I never thought about making my own billboard sets. I must look that up!
Don't know if you all read over in the Sales thread, but y3kman pointed out three new figures coming, it was listed in a hair product. Girl 8, Penny 8, and Edie 8. So more gals coming apparently.
