Early morning. Got a call from the woman that thought Eevie came up to her pation door in November (who still has my cat crate under her porch, high and dry, and leaves food out all day and night.) So I went over at 8:15am this morning. Apparently the big black cat we trapped (and released) has befriended this other black cat. We didn't find Eevie (but a gray cat was enjoying the woods food) but I drove around and went to the sprawling residence next door (with the huge pasture down to the creek) and saw the black cat (or A black cat) and it isn't her. (If that was the same one.)  Then the man with the critter cam was outside too and he's still watching weekly. People are SO nice to still be keeping an eye out for her.

For the first few weeks after Eevie went missing, I'd check this thread for news before I even looked at the day's new items for sale. Good news on the Eevie front is still the first thing I'm hoping to see when I open the thread. I'm glad people are still looking for her. I was reading the other day that black cats are the least adopted, the reason given being that they don't show up on selfies! Our local vet posted this on Facebook (adding a link a few days later to an organization offering free neutering to black cats on the strength of it). I commented, saying that such people are probably the last that the cat would want to own anyway, but sometimes... there just aren't the words.

The good news is there are NO dead black cats on the roads, and Eevie is a talker and very friendly, so I'm thinking someone is at least feeding her or has taken her in. I look at it this way- the lady with my crate leaves food out 24-7, one street over there are TWO men who have feral cat colonies who feed, neuter, and keep (6) and (21) cats who are feral/strays, I leave food out 24/7, so I'm sure Eevie has access to food, water, and shelter. There's bound to be someone in the other directions that leaves food out, just in case there are animals that need it. I hope everyone does. In the summer, leaving out the plant bottom trays (you know, those round, shallow dishes) for rabbits, possums, raccoons, squirrels- helps them when the temperatures soared during the day. (Change the water daily so mosquito larvae doesn't stand a chance.)

    Thanks for caring. :)

That reminds me that I need to get my water up and running. I use a horse waterer with a float and put rocks in it so it's not too deep. I don't want anything to be able to drown. I should have started it a while back... thank you for the reminder!

Its so nice that people are willing to take care of the strays.

On another note, I'm really disappointed that there is such a good discount on the gift cards but absolutley nothing that I need in today's selection.  I feel like if you dont need a female character you are just out of luck.  Too bad, although I certainly don't need to buy anything else at the moment.

Yeah, I had a two-hundred dollar gift card in my cart, but it was all female stuff except for the Piano, and sadly, I just didn't need any of the ladies content. The male content is also genesis 3 so I will need to convert it. I probably will buy it, but I do wish the PC club would make fits for Genesis 8 since thats the current male figure.

I ended up going elsewhere, where I bought a new hot dude for my runtime, and a few other things.

Plus, it was a bit expensive to get the gift card. Three things, and yep, all women related.

OT How was everyone's weather today? In 70's and gorgeous here.

Also, prayers to the families and friends of the 17 students and staff killed at the Florida school today. At the Olympics, the American figure skating couple dedicated their skate to the victims, which was very touching.

Really disappointed in today's sale as well.  It actually has some stuff I want but there is no discount if you buy more than one which makes it too expensive to get everything I might have otherwise picked up.  I don't need anymore back catalog stuff so there isn't much incentive there either. And things seem a LOT more expensive to begin with.

Okay, this is just downright cool. Whether you like snakes or not (I really do, they keep the rodent population in check, and also other varmits) you have to love the athletic ability of this one. Keep watching as it gets to the post, that's really talent!

I'm not a fan. However, that is an amazing video. Or should I say, an amazing snake!

This has been a don't-believe-what-I'm-hearing night. On Monday, my neighbor across the street was shot 8 times in the stomach by her boyfriend. (The neighbor who let her dogs run loose and killed my other neighbor's dog)   They've induced a coma and she is in stable condition. It didn't happen in our neighborhood. But that's one phone call you never expect to get from another neighbor.

Not a good thing, but glad she's at least alive and in stable condition.

I hope it's the last of it's kind. So sad. I hope she recovers completely, but eight bullets? There is undoubtedly a lot of damage...

    Sci-Fi Interior Kit 3

I've got to get some sleep as I have a CT scan tomorrow morning for my sinuses (I've sounded like a frog for months, got tested today and it's not allergies. Yea! Was worried it was the dogs or cats. I have ZERO allergies!)  He's sure it's a severe sinus infection so we're checking that out.

Meanwhile, want to comment on this lovely product by @Mely3d, This vendor has some really neat features with this product. Here's a few!

    1. the wall is separate, you can hide it, and have easy camera access to the room off the corridor.

    2. he made the red square (that says E) a separate material zone so you can put your own print there

    3. the screen in the hall is also a separate material zone so you can put your own print but it has really nice detailed print that you will like.

You'll really like the lighting and the textures too, there's a good variety and wonderful attention to detail.  Like I said, I have to get some sleep (2am) for an early medical appt, but hopefully other folks can share their renders. It's a great expansion for the other sci-fi set.

I don't usually do sci-fi renders but this looks like a really nice set (and sounds like a lot easier to do renders in than some other sets I've seen). Hmmm Might have to start doing more sci-fi renders. lol :)

Really liking dForce Frolic dress by @AaveNainen and the Addon set by @Fisty and Darc. A cute dForce outfit for both G3 and G8 that works for the 19th c period and has a modesty insert for those of us who don't want our female characters to be falling out of their dresses. I couldn't find material presets for the corsage thing in the addon set, so I filed a ticket about it.

Very late on the reply...  but the corsage uses the same matfiles as the hat, it's in the readme, for what it's worth.

You are not going to believe this! A help request I wrote 3 years ago (February 27, 2015) was just fixed! I reported that the the Back to Class props were not properly scaled to match Daz Studio figures. They have adjusted the scaling.

I haven't heard anything on my Kagiso ticket in 9 days. Guess I've only got 1087 more days to wait. (Good thing I made my own fixes! lol)

  • I have two questions: First, can anyone else who has the Guy 7 confirm that he does not have SSS maps for his arms and legs? And second, does anyone know any good tutorials for creating your own SSS maps?

I'm not sure why they are labeled SSS, when they are used in the Translucency settings, but you don't need those maps for the arms and legs. What they do is lower the amount of translucency where the Guy 7 base materials have hair: just Eyebrows for one skin option; and Eyebrows, Stubble, and the hair on the top of his head for the other option. He doesn't have hair on the skin materials anywhere else.

An equivalent "SSS" map for his arms and legs would be a solid white image...!

Well that gives me hope for my June 2016 still-open request! (Mine is about shadows/reflections not working in 3Delight for instances of high-res objects - actually I ought to retest it in the latest version of DS just in case it got fixed and nobody told me)

All right, that's good to know i guess. I just asked because I like to try and use the dual lobe specular settings on G3 skins, to see if they look any better, and I noticed that when I did that with his skin, using the tan-line torso map, I got a distinct seam line on his upper arms. Which would be fine if he was wearing a longsleeved shirt, but I wanted to see the tan lines, so no shirt. And glaring seam line.

I tried applying Dual Lobe settings to Guy 7, but I can't see a sharp line like you have. I tried BOSS Pro lights and Sun Sky.

  • @barbult What settings are you using for the dual lobe specular? Maybe mine are wrong, as I often am.

I just copied some values from an existing character. Make sure all of the skin uses the same values, but I'm sure you already checked that. The line you noticed is between the torso and the arms.

I'll futz with it some more. It's not like I don't have the time.
