    Tangien Corner
    http://www.daz3d.com/tangien-corner

    Lights:
    TL Dusk: 4 Distant Lights
1 distant light says UberEnvironment2 Dusk
NOTE: 13 minutes for 84%. Compared to 3-5 minutes for 100% (18 minutes for 96%) for most of the other light sets that also had UE2. So if you use this, be prepared for about 20 minutes!

TL Overcast Same, only UE2 says Overcast. 20 minutes render time.
TL Twilight Same, only UE2 says Twilight. 20 minutes render time.

Due to long render times, will not be doing the other one unless time permits later.

I really hate the DAZ forums layout.
I keep forgetting this gem is here!
You should really start a worpress or blog or something.
I think I would remember that better. :)

Awesome review on the light presets.
Especially some of the $1.99 ones. :)
Do you have a favorite yet?

    Keep up the great work.
I'll check in next year when my memory kicks in again. :P

Why thank you! You're funny! I'll have to PM you and say, "Hey, remember me??? I'm waiting for you over in the art studio...."
The ones that stick out in my mind are toon ones- I was quite surprised. SereneNight was ahead of me on knowing about those- as she said, she bought Jason just for the lights!

Take a peek at these two- they're in my top favs- nice glow and yet I could still add spotlights to the side to bring in emphasis (and could lower the intensity of the existing lights to really make them different.) I really like the way it lights up the hair. With any long hairstyles, that is going to look really nice:
    Jasmin http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19756/P960/#401690
    Toon Amy http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19756/P975/#401875

Garden Escape Well light is brighter but I think if turned down a bit, it will be one I'll use often to tweak
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19756/P1005/#403449

For mystical Lantios Lights 2, numbers 09 and 10 I thought were "out of this world" lol (I favor 10 over 9 just because it's really glowy)
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19756/P990/#402638

EDIT: My night one would be Royal Stairs http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/19756/P975/#402245

My number one choice, have to go with Jasmin. She makes Chiara look like a soft fairy princess, very regal though. And I like that I can add lights to what is there, without having to dim the others.

    Okay, your turn folks!
Pick 2-3 for daytime/portrait/what you'll use the most
    Pick 2-3 for mystical
    Pick 1-2 for night
    Pick your favorite.

    Start thumbing through here:

    The Study
    http://www.daz3d.com/the-study

No surprise, it's a big room. Chiara just happens to be right where a lot of the lights are I think! If you need a golden glow for a large room, keep this one in mind.
    Lights:
    14 distant
1 lonely spotlight, asking "What did I do to deserve this?"

    Toon Transport- Cars
    http://www.daz3d.com/toon-transport-cars

    Lights:
    10 Distant (wow)
If you look at this, you'll learn something cool. Lights are black/white/black/black etc! Combinations of black and white. Face seems a bit splotchy though?

    West Park Basement
    http://www.daz3d.com/west-park-basement

I've tested this three different times, with other renders already proven, and this one is indeed grainy. Can not recommend for portrait work.
    Lights:
    9 Distant Area lights

    Willow Spring
    http://www.daz3d.com/willow-spring
(there is also a bundle with the Lorez Statutes)

While I adore this set (as you know) it is NOT good for DS lighting. Fixmypcmike explained in a thread these are Poser lights. So I am only posting one so you can see what she means. I tested all of them previously so not doing it again. They are not good for World Center use and in DS the entire scene was yellowish.

    FLASH SALE-
    Another idea-
This is flash sale, I'm buying it- and am going to try it on swim suits! Some of these exotic patterns are really neat, and for small pieces of material such as bikinis, I think it is going to be fun. Thought I'd mention it as it is $13.18 instead of $32.95 The bundle includes 1 and 2 which would be 21.95 +21.95 regular price, or $8.78 + $8.78 with the 60% off.

So when I start posting those fabulous textures, I don't want to hear a word. :) You had your chance! Marieah has fabulous stuff.

EDIT: changed to read flash sale. I edited it as I was saving and it didnt go through.

I edited the last post- it is flash sale, not fast grab. My edit didn't go through as I was saving.
Here's another one that is worth it's weight in gold from what I've read on the forums. Had it wishlisted for months and months. You can make SO many outfits with this!

http://www.daz3d.com/silkessence but there's one for DAZ and one for Poser, be sure you get the right ones.

    And these:
    http://www.daz3d.com/the-lacemaker
http://www.daz3d.com/the-fabricator (I already had this one. You need it for the Lacemaker)

Don't forget to pick up Diner Food 5 as the freebie.

http://www.daz3d.com/the-tholopolim is one of the two main sets I'm going for in this flash sale group. Look at the thumbnails- so many different scenes can be made :) Was $34.95 and is now $13.98. Be sure to take a peek!

http://www.daz3d.com/the-necropolis-of-agarii is the other one. Wow, can do some great closeups with the amount of detail.

I'm also trying this one- with 22 props, and a lightset- http://www.daz3d.com/the-cistern $7.98 instead of $19.95

Don't know when the flash sale is ending, so gotta go check out. :)

I posted these back in the "reserved" spot but you won't get notified or know unless I point them out. Both were unsatisfactory.
I knew the Willow Spring would be as several of us had this discussion in this thread, remember? fixmypcmike pointed out the lights for Willow Spring are for Poser. They all do horribly in DStudio.

Remember how I do my own patterns in the Diffuse? I have twiddled with the bump and displacement quite a bit (like with the Ice Garden) so I want to get these and not just rely on what the vendor has for the settings. I think by increasing the bump/displacement some of those are going to be stunning :) I wish I had time to try some for you, but I have to go see my mom (she's 85) and get her some stuff before the stores close.

And I also thought about these for the stockings! (sheer stockings, I think it's called.) Consider having them with the dresses or the outfits where not much of the leg is showing. Could be cool!

Or on this: http://www.daz3d.com/towel-set-for-genesis and you could have some neat beach towels!

There's also a set in this flash sale with pillows- out in the open air, and can try it on that too. For $2.69!!!!
http://www.daz3d.com/sweet-dreams so you could make pillows too, and for the main lounging area if there is one that isn't too "busy."

So I plan on testing the heck out of it, lol!

    Sweet Dreams
    http://www.daz3d.com/sweet-dreams

    AOIBL Lights:
Got those weird colored hatched squares again. Did it twice, same result. Can't recommend. But IBL does better. (Does the face in the second one seem a bit splotchy to you?)

2 Distant including UE2, White. 65% Intensity,100% Intensity Scale. Occlusion with Directional Shadows. Saturation and Contrast are both 100% if that helps explain it?

    2 Spotlights

    IBL Lights
2 Distant including UE2 Same as above only gray light
    2 Spotlights

EDIT: Remember, this only shows what it will do at World Center. I think this would light the scene beautifully- and it's only $2.69 at this moment on Flash Sale! Plus, you get the set!

Those hatched squares are caused by Deep Shadow Maps...it's a problem with the 3Delight render engine. Happens more nowadays than in older releases of DAZ Studio (these older releases used older versions of 3Delight, which was much slower but had fewer problems with DSMs). For best results, if you see these, check each light and when you see Deep Shadow Maps, change the shadow type to Raytraced. Raytraced shadows are more realistic, anyway.

ARTCollaborations products usually include light sets, and I've found that they're often very good! My favorite is the AOIBL preset from Andrea for Young Teen Julie. Do you have that one?

Tips for using it: Load the light set. Change your view to look through the "Specular Only Spot" light. Change it's Y-translation so that it's centered on your character's face (it's designed for Andrea, who is shorter than most characters). Do a test render, and then alter the intensity of the specular lights if desired (for some renders I think they're perfect as is, for others including the one I'm posting here, the default seemed a bit strong so I turned it down). That's it...in my experience, results are consistently great.

For Totally Bazaar, so you don't have to look it up:

You can find new icons for loading this product in the following DAZ Studio Folders:
    " Shaders:Fabricator:Totally Bazaar"
    Smart Content:Presets:Shaders:Totally Bazaar 1
    Product Notes
To apply, just select your scene item and surface and click the preset. Use the tiling size and H and V offsets to adjust the texture.
To use the feathers and hanging shells, which are mostly transparent, you will need to layer a suitable clothing item over the other clothing in your scene, then carefully adjust the size and offsets until it looks right. It will not be suitable for use on all clothing models.

Thanks! If I get them again, I'll post the original result (which is the purpose of this) and then check for those DSMs and do a render with them changed over to raytraced. :) All of these are from World Center but feel free to post any lighting presets you really like and what to do to tweak them :) Share anytime- much appreciated.

When I get time, I'll go back and redo those two that had the twinkles, lol. I'm trying to do the Bazaar thingie at the moment so people can see it, hopefully before the sale goes off.

EDIT: yes, I have her. Haven't gotten TO her though, lol

Scott pretty much nailed this. I haven't altogether been successful at eradicating artifacts no matter what shadows I use. Some light sets seem to have problems and cause the rendering engine to spaz out. Most of the time it is not an issue.

    Thanks SereneNight.
Change of plans- I'm trying out the Fabricator first as it's right here. It's also on sale.
Okay, easy to use- best to use CONTENT LIBRARY folks.
Went to Daz Studio Formats>My Library>Shaders>Fabricator

    Here's what it looks like.
If you're liking this, get it before that store goes off sale!

Easy smeezy, just click on the pattern (with your shirt or whatever selected) and done!

I've got Totally Bazaar and will post some example renders in a few minutes...it's a good set. :)

Here they come...this is with V6's Garden Party Dress (because that's what I had loaded at the time), and some of the Moroccan presets. Keep in mind I put no time into this, and have very little fashion sense. ;-)

Next is some of the Native American options...

For number 3 I switched to some free Genesis clothing by wilmap...these are Afghani presets.

    4: African.

    5. Switched to a closeup view...more African presets...there are so many cool fabrics...

Okay, to use this, be sure you are in Actors/Wardrobe/Props then in the Surfaces Tab. Use the Surface Selection Tool NOT the Universal Tool. Click on the item, then on the Fabricator pattern, and that's it. :)

This is without messing with bump or displacement. You can make the fabric crinkly, raised, more silky, etc. Check back in a minute, will post more images here (and you won't get notified as edits don't show up.)

NOTE: You should get Sweet Dreams just for the tons of pillows!!!

#6...switching tactics again...Pharaohs of the Sun dress, six different Egyptian fabrics shown. I love how that green one on her chest came out...that could be useful for all kinds of different objects.

#7...Arabian. You can really see the displacement in some of these. Of course all of the bump, displacement, etc. settings are adjustable on the Surfaces pane.

#8...Indian. This time I only showed four fabrics...two of them are shown twice so that you can see the tiling options (look at the size of the pattern in the copper and green fabrics). Those are very helpful...

    ...And now off to bed!

    OOOH I like that!
I just posted a note in The Commons so other folks can take advantage of seeing what we're doing. These products are wonderful! Thanks so much for helping- post more if you have time :) I'm still going with the pillows, lol. More images will be posted here.

Hmmm, when you render you'll get some surprises. Two of those looked alike in the little thumbnails (in the first picture!) Those would be Paisley 2 and Paisley 3.

I think that fourth picture- the pillow in the upper left (white) would be a beautiful elegant dress texture.
