    I wanted this one to be my first new year render but that didn't work out so well cause I have so many issues with the lighting and backgrounds!!!

    I was also checking out some new stuff I got lately!!

    Done in 3Delight no postwork!

    Psst:) If you're using a standard pointlight for the fire, if you select the light and go to parameters and check "show hidden", you will find a greyed out shadow softness parameter. So yes, you can have soft shadows with pointlights;) The softer the shadow, the more shadow samples it will need (in render settings editor).

    I made something really different this time around!!

    The background in this render is my sisters painting she does in real life that she takes pics of to sell on the net! She gave me permission to use it.

    Another render with my sisters painting in the background!!!

    I just love using her paintings for my backgrounds it just adds some beauty to my renders!!

    Done in 3Delight and taken into GIMP for retouching and adding my WM!!

    It was great to finally get the Antonia dress (I think it's called), because I've had the textures for it since 2019, or something. I refused to buy it, because I  knew it would come up in rotation as a freebie one day!

    May I offer some constructive critique on this one? It's a bit dark, and the figures blend into the background a bit. If you have the scene saved, you could try adding a couple of spotlights, and aiming one at each character. Maybe you know this already, but it took me some time to figure out: In the drop-down list were you select Perspective View, or Camera etc. you can select the spotlight to see exactly where and what it's pointing at. Dial it into the position wou want, and play around with intensity, spread angle and colour, found under "Light" on the right hand side. Since it's for a contest, it's worth the extra effort, IMO. It's a very cute picture! smiley

    I am also going to give this one another go and change the background as I think it is a bit to busy and you loose sight of what is the focus!!

    But I do think I did better with the lighting on this one!!

    I am working on it right now and will post the newest version when it is done rendering and once I repost it in the contest!!

    Well I had to wait to post this because I had to rush out this morning and did not get back untill about 11 pm this evening!!
