short focus

I have strugeled with this for days and reading lots of step-by-step but I cant get camera to make a short focus. For example figure in front sharp and background of focus. Could someone send me a saved sceene so I can check all settings on it I would be most greatful. Mail to: [email protected]

Are you trying to use DoF (depth of field)?  Are you familiar with how to set it up?
