Help with Genesis 2 Male Eyes
Does anyone know of a good tutorial that will help me give more life to Genesis 2 male eyes? I used the Phillip eyes material, but still the eyes look lifeless. I'm rendering in Iray and have already applied iray uber base to my figure. I have Eddie eyes reflection material but unfortunately it's only for G3M.

If you want something to reflect in the eye, there must be something that can be reflected. That is particularly true for Iray renders.
What is your secene setup? Is it just the character, or is there any "world" around it? If you look into the yes of a real world person, you will always see a reflection of his/her surroundings, perhaps even yourself. So, what are you giving your character's eyes to work with? :-)
Also, if you just did a basic conversion, or did you use the optimized G2M Iray conversion preset that comes with DAZ Studio, and is found under Genesis 2 Male --> Materials --> Iray?
Here's Philip skin after applying that conversion, just using the default HDRI:
EDIT: A link to one of the early threads about Iray and skin. It also covers eye settings, and if you are really interested to learn, it's certainly worth a look. A fair word of warning, though: there are a lot of posts in that thread. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/54239/fiddling-with-iray-skin-settings/p1
Don't use "eye reflection" maps, that ought to be rule number one.
Select both the cornea and the eye reflection materials, apply the Water Thin material from the Default Resources for Studio 4.9.
Then as BeeMKay said, make sure there is "something" to reflect, even if its just a light.
Thank you so much @BeeMKay and @evilded777. I changed the eye color to Phillip's green and applied the water thin material, adjusted the spotlights again and I'm finally seeing the spotlights reflecting in his eyes! Hoping the catchlight will improve in future renders.
Thanks again!
If you increase the Eyes Cornea Bulge: max out to 1, the result will be even more natural. Also, sometimes the defaultr camera light plays havoc on the scene. It sometimes helps if you drop a spotlight into the scene and switch it to "off" during render.
Very good advice.
Thank you! Turns out this is in a G2M morph product in the Daz store. Fortunately I found a similar item free on ShareCG.
I do have the headlamp turned off for my camera and in render settings, so that should not cause an issue.
Thank you!
I never realized that was in the morph pack...huh. Well... its just so essential, kinda assume everyone has it, I guess.
Ah, sorry about that. The Head and body morphs sold in here in the shop are used in many characters also sold here and elsewhere, so they were one of the "essential buys" for me.
