How to make Mirror reflective?

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,404

I bought HomeStyle2 Iray Shaders and it comes with a mirror shader. I have an environment that has mirrors and I'd like to make them reflect images. In the Scene Tab, Mirror isn't a "child" of that wall so i can't select it there. If I go to Surfaces>Fitness Room>Mirror it is there. I'm just not sure what I need to do to apply the mirror shader. Which one of those doesit apply to? Any help would be appreciated.

Select the model (the Fitness Room) and the surface (Mirror) then double-click the preset you want to apply.

For a materials preset (such as a character skin or a textures et for clothing) you need only the model selected as the preset has a list of which surfacs it should change; a shader preset can apply to any surface so you need to tell it both which model(s) and which surface(s) on the model to affect.

Thanks Richard. I was pretty sure I'd have to fine one specific area to select like "Refractice Specularity" or something like that. Didn't think it would be that easy. One thing I did notice. I do have an environment selected of a city scape in my environment tab. The mirror doesn't reflect what's out the window. Should I use a plane instead of are mirrors just not that powerful?

Yup! That's what I had to do. Just had to play around.
