DAZ Install Manager - content goes to the "wrong" library

I'm new to Poser and Daz Install Manager, so maybe I'm missing something basic.

I've bought and DL'ed a few things with DazIM. So far nearly everything appears in the library and is usable, but sometimes it ends up in a wrong-seeming library.

For example:

  • Amarseda Hair: this hair appears in Figures instead of Hair; the materials appear in Poses
  • Basicwear for V4: this clothing appears in Figures instead of Props; the materials appear in Poses
  • Sixties Dinette Set: these props appear in Figures instead of Props; the materiasls appear in Poses

I assume DazIM is just putting things where the package tells it to. Two questions:

  1. Is it right for some reason that a table prop (for example) needs to appear under Figures?
  2. Is it possible and safe for me to manually move things to the right-seeming library?

Items with bones generally get placed in Figures, sine theya re, while items without go in Hair (for hair) or Props. Poses are used for all sorts of settings, including materials, since when people first made Mat files there was no Materials library (and in Poser 5 theer were no Material Collections).

You can move things - but you will break any metadata/categorisation they have.

  • Thanks, that explains why it seemed semi-random. I'll just get used to looking in the most likely 2 or 3 libraries for a given entity.

The readme should have the paths, assuming it exists (some older content lacks a readme) - click the i buttom next to the product in Install Manager. You can also right-click on it in Install Manager and select Show Installed Files to get a full list of what was placed where.
